Houseboats – boats in general – require different setups. Much like RVs, actually. But the thing about that kind of living is that kitchen areas are small and require that things be moveable/storeable. To get to the point, I cooked on both radiant and induction plates with two burners each so I did have a full-size stovetop, but they were easier to store when I needed the countertop for other things. Of the two cooking surfaces, I did find radiant cooktops to be a bit more versatile as induction requires that the utensil have a metal bottom so that the heat reaction would occur. Not that induction is bad, but it does require more thought in the preparation. Radiant heat cooktops are the better part of electric cooking – no coils that are exposed, a flat surface that stays that way (I have had a couple of stove tops that one coiled burner was slightly bent up) and is easy to clean. This surface was fairly easy to install – the electrician was here for right at 30 minutes as I had already removed my traditional oven/stove and replaced it with a Goodwill lower kitchen cabinet. The back of the cabinet was removed, the top I had already cut to fit this drop in unit and that’s exactly what I did and then let the electrician do his part to get this wired. Now, if you are wondering what I will be doing without an oven that went out the door with the traditional stove, I have a multi-use full size microwave that also air fries, bakes, and broils. I can fit two full size cookie sheets in my microwave unit and yes, I can cook with metal when using air fry, bake or broil. Back to the radiant heat cooktop – electrician gone, I had been waiting to try it out and grabbed a smaller skillet, a frozen burger and got to it! Radiant heat doesn’t cook faster or better if that’s what you think, but it works great and my burger was finished in a short time. The burner does take time to cool down, but that’s more or less a given with most electric heating. That is probably the biggest plus of induction over radiant cooking, in how it cools down; however, I am more than pleased with how this radiant heat cooktop is truly and completely flat. No knobs to turn/twist! The four burners have a touch-sensitive section in the front to pick which one you want to use and also, two are 1200 watt and two are 1800 watt so you have higher power for stir frying or the like. One last thing – as I mentioned, I had an electrician wire this cooktop because it had to be tied to a 220 breaker/30 amp load in my home’s circuit box. Being that I’m not comfortable working with electric lines, best to pay someone who knows what they are doing, right? So, bottom line is, if you are ready to upgrade your kitchen, this radiant heat flat cooktop would be a wonderful addition to your kitchen.Read more

I’ve always preferred to have these flat cook chops in my kitchen. The standard coil cookers are good at all, but they can become dirty and are a bit more of a hassle to clean. Replacing my coil cooktop with this one was easier than I expected and it was a very worthy upgrade. Honestly I prefer induction cooktops, just because I like that you can touch it with your hand without getting burned, but that’s definitely personal preference. Cooking on this feels digital, it lights up red when it’s hot and the light goes out when it’s off. You can easily wipe it clean without stuff getting stuck in any grooves. Honestly I’m not sure why anybody would want anything other than one of these flat cook tops in the kitchen.Read more

The flat cooking surface is so much better than the coil tips. With these you can just wipe them down and walk away where with the coil tops you have to pull the burners and scrub everything down. The temperature control works great. You can cook with any type of cookware. Ceramic, copper, iron, glass, I mean this is great for any type of pots and pans. I would highly recommend this radiant flat top cooking surface.Read more

Looks decent, well packaged, mostly good instructions for installation, use, and aftercare, and a great price. What could go wrong? I bought this for a house refurbishment for a person on a tight budget who wanted a clean look to the kitchen (I renovate and refurbish multiple properties per year). Although not a well known brand, this unit does look good when in situ. Installation: the cable thickness and position requires an additional cut out beyond the given dimensions to allow the unit to fit – although not mentioned in the instructions this is not a problem as long as care is taken not to cut beyond the unit footprint (I found it best to undercut the worktop at 45deg). Cable length is more than adequate for most installations and wires are pre finished with crimps for easy connection. Use: Luckily I hadn’t done the final fit of the unit. When first powered up all the LEDs flash and clicking can be heard settling down to no LEDs on and no clicking. Zone selection is clearly marked but can be a little fiddly to select and set to the required temperature. All relatively good to this point then click and everything turns off except the LEDs to show which zones are still hot. The instructions suggest this is due to overheating (auto cut off) so I double checked the ventilation gaps and clearances – all good. Conclusion: If you want a ceramic hob, buy a known brand. This unit might just be a one off but once bitten…Read more

  7. REVIEWED FOR YOU!

I opted for the 77cm one which slotted perfectly inside my existing slot. If you’re taking one out to replace, it’s a fairly easy install as it basically mirrors the existing one. But if it’s completely new, I would recommend watching some videos online first or maybe get someone out to install. It doesn’t take long but there are some fiddly bits. Once installed this works great, it’s all touch which makes it very modern! It has 5 Hob rings which are all different sizes making it great for all your mixed of pans. Adjustable heat settings and all those good bits. Very easy to control and loads of built in safety feature too which I think makes this item perfect. I actually really love this purchase and I think I got it for a very reasonable price point too! It arrived very well packaged for protection, my only one little niggle to the manufacturer would to put some infill the the cable parts are as they was rattling about.Read more

The COVERCOOK 2 zone electric hob is a great item for a utility or garage overflow cooker. I hate when my wife cooks fish in the house so wanted this to install in the garage to do away with the issue. She loves fish and so do I, but the smell lingers for days after cooking and I really can’t deal with it. This is a fantastic low cost solution to the problem, the rings heat up in no time, there are 9 power settings and the touch controls are very simple and easy to use. It even has child locks to prevent unauthorised use. A nice two burner hob at a very reasonable price.Read more

I like that it is compact, my husband installed it quite quickly with the instruction book,it is easy to clean and for me this it is very important,i dont like waste my time)) I’m happy with this purchase.ThankyouRead more

Decided to upgrade my gas hob to a ceramic one. I got this professionally installed for me. First impression is it looks very nice and minimalistic as it has no physical buttons or knobs, which keeps my kitchen diner looking modern. It heats it quickly and the food cooks well regardless of what I’m cooking. Very easy to clean and really safe as it has a child lock and timer on it to remind you. Energy efficient as well because you have different size cooking zones for your different pots and pans.Read more
