I’ve been experimenting with the set-up on some of my guitars both by changing the action and by replacing the bridges and saddles. Well, in the process of taking off strings and putting them back on, sometimes, they just don’t survive the experience. In particular, I’ve had a lot of problems with needing to replace the high E, and though they don’t give me a hard time, I feel a little embarrassed about going to my local store and asking for another individual string. For reference, I typically play D’Addario Super Lights .09 – .042, and these strings fit in just fine as far as playability goes. However, the quality control on these strings seems to be lacking. Sometimes, the string will last with the rest of the set, and other times, it doesn’t even survive breaking it in. I can tell that they’re just not the best quality as, the ball ends are falling off. They seem to be working okay with my Strat, but they haven’t been working well with my Jazzmaster at all. I know that different guitar designs will play with the strings differently, but I’ve never had so much trouble with my D’Addarios as I do with these. It’s great to avoid having to make that extra trip to the store when I don’t need anything else, but these really should be a lot more reliable, and I’m surprised that so many were satisfied with them. I’ll use these for now, but I’d have to recommend supporting your local guitar store, as these are too much of a roll of the dice, and you’ll probably only have to pay a $1 for the individual string, anyway, so you’ll lose money by the 12 pack, since some of the strings are probably going to be duds. Since some of the strings do work, I can’t really give a completely negative review, but I expected better. Update 10/21: I have since had this string break on both my Strat and on my Jaguar, so it doesn’t seem that the specific guitar makes so much difference after all. I can no longer give these strings the benefit of the doubt and would have to conclude that they are simply poor quality, so I am deducting a star from my score. I still have a few of these strings left, but at this point I would only use them in an emergency.Read more

Great value for the money and I am sure they will do just fine. I haven’t used one yet but will when my next string breaks. I have lots of guitars and on 9 of them I altered the saddle where I grinder it to give my guitar better functionality. I was breaking a lot of strings but the performance now is incredible. I also grinder better saddles to correct the issue and as my strings will break I will put the new saddle on modified with one of these strings and will write a separate review on how well they perform. I did receive these super fast and a day early. Update I just used my first one and the quality is just as great as Ernie Ball GHS or any other brand out there. I have played for 45 years now and have a great sense of feel for great strings. It may take me a long time to need more but I will buy these from now on.Read more

So far I haven’t had any issues with these strings. I’ve tried other strings like this and they failed me, but not these. Saved me several times from having to break open a new pack when I got too bend happy with my bottom string.Read more

After using up a 5pack of same gauge strings from a well known brand I decided to try this 12 pack since I insist on using 10ga and knowing that breakage is expected. The sound is just as good as the mentioned strings and they also last as long. I don’t know of a brand that lasts longer with heavy use. Yes, it’s extremely annoying to break a string, any string, but does anybody know of a brand that is nearly indestructible? If so say so or hold your peace. I will stick to these. I already broke 3 of them but like I said, I expected it. I’m not sure if going up a gauge would result in lesser breakage. I welcome suggestions from fellow guitar aficionados. Rock on.Read more

I had so many sets of strings with just the high “E” string missing due to breaking and I was able to purchase 10 .009 strings. I will probably need to use their services again. However, I haven’t yet used one of these .009 high E strings and after reading all the terrible reviews on how these strings break almost instantly after installation and sound even worse, I’m going to have to update my review, which I just did.Read more

I recently broke my 10 gauge high E string at the bridge after several months of playing. While the other strings still had a bit of life left, I bought these to bridge the gap between the full string replacements. I broke two in two weeks at the tuning peg. I would not buy these again nor would I trust their longevity in a gigging situation.Read more

B and E strings are the bane of my musical existence. Playing every other weekend in a metal band covering bands like Slayer and Pantera I go through these particular strings like a knife through hot butter. No more breaking up sets. just to get two strings replacedRead more

Great replacement strings or backups . I have ordered & use multiple sets(sizes) with good results . I run the 10 – 13 – 17 etc., Or 11 – 14 -18 and so on . Easily compares to Ernie Ball’s slinkys, Fender 250s, Dunlop the list is endless . Prices are currently low and affordable . Try them, buy ’em now !!!Read more
