This was perfect for connecting constant power to my Ring doorbell camera. The cord is very long so installing it and running it over to the electrical outlet was easy. I drilled a 1/4in hole through bricks from outside to run this through the wall to connect power to the doorbell. Saves me the headache of the battery going dead on the doorbell because I forgot to charge it. I’d recommend this if you’re looking for a power supply for your Ring doorbell.Read more

I purchased this 24 Volt Transformer as a plug in power source for my Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Installed the transformer and attached it to my ring doorbell and everything worked fine for about 19 hours then the ring stopped working properly . The ring would not hook up to the WiFi. I at first did troubleshooting using online resources and based on that, the initial conclusion was that the 24 volt transformer failed or stopped delivering the required power. Based on this, I initially gave this product a negative review and purchased another power supply. The second plug in transformer also failed to get the Ring doorbell to work, so I called Ring Community Support for help with this issue. After numerous failed attempts to get the device to work, Ring finally sent me another door bell which works properly. The ring device failed, not the 24 Volt transformer. The 24 Volt Transformer now powering a properly working Ring Video Doorbell Pro works as advertised. I tested the transformer using a multi meter and the device delivers a consistent 24 Volts. The four stars is in my opinion the wire is a little on the thin side but otherwise this is a good product.Read more

The instructions are very vague. I have a 3rd generation Nest thermostat, since my Rc was already in used, I used the Rh instead, but I got an error and the thermostat was stuck on the error message, so I learnt the two white cables are not the same they have different polarity there’s one with black lines that one is power and the other one goes on C, so I used Rh and C that gave me an error that I was allowed to ignore it, but nonetheless the error was there so I kept on researching and tried putting the power (black lines cable) on Rc with the one that was already there, that way the Nest doesn’t detect anything on RH an uses the internal jumper to close the circuit, I guess I could have used the jumper that comes with it, but my solution was better in my opinion, see in the photo attached my configuration, is working perfectly

I used this in a little different format than most. My Payne furnace has a C-wire but during each heat cycle there is a blower delay timer, when the furnace runs the fan and circulates air. During that time the voltage to my Ecobee thermostat would drop and turn the unit off, resulting in a delay to the next heat cycle and the thermostat losing connection to the remote temperature sensors, wifi, etc. I plugged this unit in back at the furnace, disconnected the C-wire from the furnace board and connected that to a wire on this unit. Then connected the other wire to the RC terminal at the furnace. (completing the power loop) Whalla 25 volts to the Ecobee thermostat through the blower delay cycle. Such an easy fix and no extra holes in walls. Worked perfect!Read more

I’m an engineer, and very experienced with stuff like this. Have installed internet thermostats in all sorts of oddball locations, including line voltage 220V baseboard heat. But for installing basic Honeywell internet thermostats, this solution will not work. Its a perfectly usable 24V transformer, but unfortunately, it cannot function correctly as it cannot provide an independent “C” wire, ie, common wire that will work with the 24V that most HVAC equipment supplies. It does a perfect job of completing a circuit with itself, ie, connecting it to C as well as Rc/Rh will create a wonderful enclosed circuit and will indeed power up the thermostat. What it will NOT do though is complete the 24v circuit with the HVAC equipment itself to actually turn it on or off. So the screen looks great, but it doesn’t close the circuit with the AC or Boiler controls, as its a completely separate 24v circuit. You can in fact rube goldberg the whole thing together if you wanted to, but its very complex and not worth the effort. So yes, its a lovely 24v transformer, expensive, but works perfectly fine. But it will NOT work for most thermostats that need a complete 24v power plus ground/common. I could see it working perfectly fine for things like video doorbells and such, but not for most thermostat applications.Read more

Date of install March 13 2019 I’ve ordered the Ring Video Doorbell and first thing was to look into hard wiring it. I didn’t want to deal with having to keep recharge when battery was to ever get low. First thing I did was to recharge the unit with USB cable. After it was 100% charged, I went ahead and ran the power cable to the unit and hardwired everything. Plugged the extra long plug to the outlet and pulled up the system health screen on the Ring app. Shows 100% hard wired and steadily changing.Read more

I thought this was the solution to my two-wire boiler system vs Nest 3rd Gen Thermostat issues I have been having. However, Nest Thermostat do not work with stranded cables, which is what this has when you shorten it to the proper length. The photos on the page are very misleading. Wasted money if you are trying to use this as a common wire adapter for the newer Nest Thermostats (I can’t comment on whether this would work with some of the older Nest versions or not). I am not the only one who has had this issue– unfortunately I ordered this before other reviews went up.Read more
