First let me say that I was very hesitant to buy a dog shirt like this online without being able to test the size. We have a 75 pound pit bull that has severe anxiety. In a edition to terrible separation anxiety ( panting, pacing, barking, licking, chewing etc.) she is generally a nervous dog. She walks in reverse around corners, can’t do stairs or walk on tile/hardwood, vacuuming sets her into panic and she refuses to move if any furniture is rearranged. Well that was before buying the AKC anti anxiety jacket! We bought it in preparation for moving to a new house. As soon as we put it on our dog you could see the pure relief in her face! Instantly she started going around corners in forward ( no more walking backwards like Tow Mater!). I let her wear it around the house just to get use to it. When we moved this weekend, our dog is a new, HAPPY, not fearful dog thanks to this shirt! She walks on hardwood, mastered going up and down uncarpeted flights of stairs, and the constantly moving furniture and boxes is not phasing her. Our dog hates thunderstorms and fireworks especially. Every year he is a shaking mess in July and of course our neighbors make it a week long affair. I ordered this for him just in time to come in for the 4th and he literally laid down and went right to sleep with it on. I tried an ace bandage wrap on his body last year and it didn’t do anything so I was skeptical. But I’m glad I decided to try it out anyway, he had no problems this year. For sizing, his neck is about 21 inches, so I ordered this in a medium (he’s a fat shih tzu, about 25lbs) and it fit great in the neck, but it fit just barely around the stomach. I was skeptical, how in the world is a piece of cloth wrapped around my dog going to help? I still don’t know how, but it definitely does work! My Golden Retriever became scared of thunder in his old age, he started pacing and panting constantly during thunderstorms, and tried to wedge himself under the bed. A friend of mine said this worked great for her beagle so I thought I’d give it a try since the price was right. With the first use my dog stopped pacing and panting. He even went outside in the yard (in a thunderstorm!) to do his business–I was shocked! He now starts to wag his tail when I pull this out of the closet to put it on him, he loves it! My only complaint/suggestion is make sure you measure your dog first–this is almost too small for him despite carefully measuring. I secure the two straps with the minimal amount of velcro possible to ensure it is long enough to wrap around him. The problem is, the exposed velcro is now completely covered with his long, fine hair and it’s impossible to get out. Not a huge deal since there is still enough useable velcro to keep it in place. Also you have to leave the neck strap quite loose for them to be able to lay their head down. When I first put it on him I made sure it was tight, but noticed when he laid down he wouldn’t lay his head down–he tried but kept lifting it back up and it finally occurred to me that the neck strap was too tight. Once I loosened it a bit he was good to go! All in all this is a great product, I would highly recommend for anxious pups!!Read more

This thing worked great for my dog. But the main reason for my review is to offer advice when choosing the right size for your dog. I chose a medium coat, because it covers the weight range that my dog fits into. When it arrived, it was way too small. When choosing a size for your dog, it’s best to use the chest size.Read more

Wow!!! i had heard these helped with loud noises, thunder storms etc. My lab mix, maxx, 13yrs, had become nervous, stressed, would not leave my side. i had lost my happy, jumpy always ready for an outside activity pup. His back legs are getting wobbly, and the vet stated this was normal in older dogs. I was devastated. i looked online for anything that might help my pup. i came across the body wrap and how it helps calm your dog. I have some significant concerns about durability. This is designed to help anxious dogs, but I’m not sure it can withstand the abuse of an anxious dog. I used this on my adopted, at the time, 7 month old Rottweiler/Greater Swiss Mountain dog mix. He wore it for a few hours for 2 days while I was working with him before the first hole happened on the back and less than a week before it started tearing at one of the seams. As for performance? That’s a crap shoot. It was hard to tell if it did much of anything, but each dog reacts differently to different things. I really believe if I used it now, it may perform better because after a lot of work, my puppy is more controllable now where before it was pure fight or flight response. I did love the material and the look of the product. It fit well and was extremely soft. Maybe on smaller breed dogs the durability would be less of a concern, but on my large puppy it definitely didn’t hold up.Read more

I’ve had this for two days and I’m already regretting it. The quality is just awful, and the Velcro is already coming off the fabric, see photo. I’ve put it on and taken it off maybe 4 times. Unfortunately for me, I bought three of them. I’m reluctant to return anything that’s been clearly used and since these dogs have worn them they are full of hair. I don’t feel right returning something like that, but at the same time I just threw away 90 Bucks. Spend your money on something more quality.Read more

Had some real trouble getting my youngest dog to relax lately, she stresses easily and starts to scratch us for attention… Not fun for any of us. Only had it a day and found it workes very well! She relaxed instantly…. But unfortunately after a couple of hours of wearing we found it had damaged her skin around the seams, we are now dealing with blisters and sore skin!! Although this is the right size for our dog it still pinches her skin! So over all not happy with the quality of the product and could probably make it myself from an old t-shirt, not worth the price tag. But the method of using a snug jacket to calm your dog works great!!Read more

Realy helped my staffy/Akita she gets so upset with big noises, fireworks, banging car doors, thunder and lightning bless her didn’t think it would help but I needed to try it, she has calm drops, we have the adaptol plugin, and with this she calms down instead of shaking it was so upsetting xRead more
