This review was edited. This is the second time I use this product with all of winter between treatments The first treatment killed off some floating algae. The second treatment months later killed my fish. After two treatments the algae is still alive and my fish are dead

I wish I would have taken before pics, but we had a major algae problem in our koi pond. Once every couple of days I was skimming out large amounts of long hairy algae, along with surface blooms. I was hesitant to introduce any chemicals into the pond but something had to be done. All I can say is it’s been 2 weeks of treatments every 3 days per the instructions, and my algae problem is gone. I scoop up half a 5 gallon bucket of water, mix in the AlgaeFix, and broadcast it along the edges of the pond. The fish, snails, frogs, and aquatic plants are all doing just fine. I’m transitioning to once a week application now and we’ll see if that’s enough to keep the algae at bay. I also use this in a small fountain since the rocks were getting green. Formerly I’d mix in a little chlorine bleach, but this is a much milder solution to the problem.Read more

I wanted to find something for algae control that is safe for birds bathing or drinking in our pond. We do not have fish. This is the only product in years of having 2 ponds that does work well. Our pond is 100 gallons, and I have it set on a timer to run from about 7 am to approx 9:30 pm, from May until end of Sept. We have had 6-7 days of temps over 90F to 102F, and I put the required amount in the pond every other night, while we have this heat. When we get back under 90 degrees, I will add another day or two in there, before I do another treatment. Our pond is clear, and looks nice. EDITED: It worked good the first couple of weeks, and then it was a let down. Even when adding this every night to every other night, the algae was not being controled. I have to change the water about every week and a half, it gets so bad. Will have to find something else.Read more

Don’t use if you have fish! I bought this product for a 100 gallon outdoor water pond with fish and a few plants. I’ve used it now 4 times and it was a disaster! I thought it was safe for fish and plants but it spiked the PH level to off my chart levels. It killed all my fish before I could lower the PH to a safe level. Also turned the outside leaves on my water plants yellow. I had to buy new fish. Same thing happened again. Bought more fish. This last time, I used half a capful, thinking maybe I had overdosed. Same thing. Levels spiked and my fish started swimming on their sides in circles. Lost a few more fish before I could lower the PH. I gave it a chance to rule out other reasons the PH spiked, but I’ve decided it’s the product.Read more

Does not work ! I cleaned the pond algae out by hand. A 10 ft by 6 ft pond. A lot of work but this product was supposed to not let any more grow. It didn’t do a thing. A real waste of money. And a big disappointment. Since we don’t have fish anymore I tried putting in a stronger dose. Nothing. Don’t waste your money.Read more

I have a decent sized waterfall fountain in my front yard. Water started turning aggressively green. I didnt know what it was for sure (algae, etc)….i tried another product that kind of worked…it cleared up the water a little bit and brought the gunk/algae to the surface. I used that for a few weeks but I when i tried to skim off the top layer of crap, it was difficult to get out with a skimmer. I then switch to this product and used it…i saw results VERY quickly. Not only did it clear up the water, but it actually eliminated the algae and gunk…just disappeared. This product is the truth. Highly recommend. Pull the trigger…get it.Read more

Product works very well. I have a 700 gallon pond in my yard and the water was getting pretty murky I think because the heat creates more algae. I’m not sure but this product cleared it up almost immediately. We also have a cat and dogs who occasionally drink from the pond. I read the reviews of people being concerned about its toxicity for animal consumption. As with anything else if you dilute and follow directions just as stated on the bottle there will be no harm caused to any of your animals. The potency straight from the bottle will yes most definitely harm your animals I’m certain of that. That said, I do not have any fish in my pond so I cannot Comment on what it will do to fish. Cats and dogs are fine with this product as long as diluted as described and it’s a great product that I would buy it againRead more

Our water lily pond holds 250 gallons of water, so – based on reading other reviews and wanting to be very careful not to harm the baby water lilies – I treated for a little over 200 gallons, 3 days or so apart as instructed. On 7.21.2020, a day into the second treatment, all seemed to be going very well. Plants still alive and even thriving, water was much clearer. UPDATE 8.7.2020: By the fourth treatment, I noticed the algae was coming back, which is quite disappointing. It was quite hot here, though, during that treatment, so I gave it another chance. However. Three treatments later, and a much cooler spell with the weather, (which should really have helped), there is absolutely NO difference from number four. I know the algae is bad for everyone this year in particular, but I really do not understand this, as it seemed to be working so well at the start of treatments. PHOTOS: 1 = just before first treatment. 2 = second treatment. 3 = third treatment. 4 = fourth treatment. Fifth and sixth look identical to the fourth, so there did not seem to be any point to post photos of them.Read more
