I looked high and low to find Solid Carbon Filters for my new LG fridge with craft ice. Yes I’m a baller! I used to sell Mulit-Pure pure water fillers so I know what I’m talking about. What you want on a refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser is a solid carbon polishing filter, ideally made from coconut carbon. These so-called coconut filters are found on the last stage of an RO water systems and filter down to 5 microns for incredible taste. 99% of all fridge filters are granulated carbon which are basically useless and allow foul tastes and odors to pass right through. The only downside to a solid carbon filter is that without a pre-filter stage they don’t last as long. However if you’re on city water they work perfectly fine all by themselves. Very easy to monitor, when the water flow drops to low … change the filter! I live in Hawaii and these filters bring the taste & water quality back to the volcanic aquifer source. Bought a 3 pack a long time ago to have backups and tried installing one today to only find out the internal valve piece is completely different from the correct one even though the filter was the exact same model number. Was also suspicious because the font on the stickers was bigger than the originals. Can’t be installed properly on LG fridge, just pops off and floods your fridge. Very disappointed, wish I would have checked right away. Update with pictures, the one on the right was the correct one and the one on left is the fake one. As you can see the nipple on top is completely different than the old one and hence won’t screw on properly.Read more

I just got a new refrigerator in January, so it was time to replace the filter. In the past I learned OEM replacements are always more $$$. Basically it is a plastic cartridge with carbon filter media, so why pay more?! Most important to me, would it fit perfectly, it did. Would it leak, it did not. Does the water taste good, it does. It is a win, win because it works just as well as the OEM however, I was able to buy 3 of these for the half the cost of one OEM. One tip, I did save the OEM filter i took out, in case I need a service call, I will stick it back in, in case that is a warranty breaker. Installed easily. Great price. No problem for the first 30 – 40 days after installation of thie new filter. Then we had some gray ice cubes in the ice tray. Yuck. Fridge is only a year old and never had this problem with original filter. We emptied the ice tray, and haven’t seen problem reoccur, but concerns remain of course. If it happens again, I’ll be tossing these filters and buying something else.Read more

This filter removes the taste and smell from my water that the original LG filter didn’t. Excellent quality and value for the money. Edited on May 22, 2021: I ordered a new set of filters, since I was satisfied with my first experience. The top of the new ones is different and they are extremely hard to rotate in the refrigerator assembly to fit. I was afraid that it might break the assembly. After quite a bit of effort, I was able to rotate and lock it. In the picture, the old one is on top and the new one is at the bottom. The old one was very easy to rotate. With this new design, I will definitely not recommend it.Read more

Would have gave solid 4 stars but just like other reviews said, they now have a different top and its harder to install. When I say harder I mean you really have to push and rotate to where I was hoping I wouldn’t break anything. Not sure why they changed a design that was so simple to install before. Other than that these filters work fine, good taste but I always replace way before the 6 months recommended. Starts tasting funky at about 4-5 months for us.Read more

The filter doesn’t seem to filter anything. Also it is not NSF certified. The water tastes and smells exactly like the one coming out of the tap, so there is no point to using the filter. Chlorine smell still there. Switched to original LG filter which is NSF certified and there is an immediate and noticeable difference. So I’d rather pay full price for original filter or drink directly from tap which is free than use this filter. Regret purchase.Read more

The price point is awesome. The taste is definitely better than tap water but it’s ok. I’ve bought other filters off here and they were 10 times betwer in flavour. My only complaint is the white flecks that float around. Yes I did flush over 12 liters of water when I switched it. No other filters I’ve bought have had this problem.
