DC97-16782A drum support roller and axle, which includes the roller shaft and mounting clips, is used in dryers. This part holds the drum as it rotates on the support wheels. When the roller begins to wear out, it self lubricates, so no additional grease is needed. If your dryer is making odd noises then checking and replacing the rollers can be the solution to your problem. Make sure to unplug the dryer from the power source before beginning this replacement.

If your dryer has an awful squeaking noise, check these parts in the following order: *Rollers *idler pulley *belt If you can find a diagram showing you where the rollers and idler pulley are located, you can troubleshoot without taking the entire dryer apart. First, unplug the dryer. On most Samsung models, you can access the idler pulley from the back dryer vent tube. It is held in by a few screws. Reach your hand inside and disconnect the belt. Now manually spin the idler pulley and listen for noises. (CAUTION NEXT STEP IS DANGEROUS) THIS IS HOW I DIAGNOSED THE ROLLERS WITHOUT TAKING THE DRYER APART: Through that same hole, you can see the front two rollers. But, for this diagnosis, the dryer must be running. Put on a rubber glove to avoid possibility of shock. Now find a long firm stick approximately 3 ft long. While the dryer is running, take the stick and press firmly against each roller. Did you notice a change in sound? If so, it is a worn bushing inside the roller. You will have to be more clever to access the back rollers with your homemade stick. It can be done, but is more difficult. You won’t be able to see them. You can reach your hand up and touch them though. FINALLY, before installing new rollers, apply a thin film of high temperature grease around the bushing. Do not get any grease on roller, idler pulley, belt, or drum. Do not let this job intimidate you. It is very easy to do. It takes about 2 hours. This is roughly a 300 dollar service call so it is worth doing yourself. 95 percent of the screws are the exact same size. Use a ziploc bag to label any piece of hardware that you might forget and place in bag. Do not forget to plug in all of the sensors and control panel pieces. Clean out all lent buildup especially around the heating element.Read more

The replacement rollers seem to be a comparable quality, overall dimension and manufacture to the original factory parts. The factory shaft thread is metric M10-1.5 on my Samsung dryer Model DV48J7770EP/A2. The replacement parts received were a slightly finer metric thread M10-1.25. See attached pictures of the comparison. Unfortunately, the kit doesn’t include matching replacement hardware (hex nuts). If you happen to have a set of spare M10-1.25 nuts to interchange, there would be no problem with the parts shipped. A side note, the abnormal rotating noises made by my dryer were caused by a damaged belt tensioner assembly. I was going to replace the rollers while the unit was disassembled. As the parts didn’t fit, I just regreased the old roller shafts and bushings. After restart, the unit is quiet as new. The original tensioner design is flawed with a fixed shaft/bushing arrangement. The original nylon pulley had shifted position on the pressed bushing causing the issues. The upgraded replacement tensioners come with sealed bearings in place of the bushing. Also a build up of lint in the vanes of nylon squirrel cage fan wheel can cause vibration and abnormal rotating noises. This issue can be fixed with a vacuum and a check for interference with the surrounding sheetmetal. If the nylon squirrel cage is too deformed it will have to be replaced.Read more

I ordered these drum rollers on a Saturday after finding out two of them were bad, and not a single appliance parts place was open. Started making a God awful 14k Hz squealing. Got these on the following Sunday afternoon and got my dryer back up and running again. Model: dv45h7000ew/a2 The other reviews about the threading is true, but these rollers came with new nuts, which didn’t affect how these were installed. Can’t say for sure for other dryers, but these rollers work perfectly for said model above. Build quality is okay. Didn’t instill too much confidence that they will last. These will get you out of a pinch for sure, but can’t say long term yet. I will say once I installed these, my dryer sounded brand new as if it was brand new. Fun Fact: On this 4 year, almost 5 old dryer, I have upgraded the tensioner after a catastrophic fail, replaced belt, drum rollers, and the heating element. My previous 10 year old Maytag, only had to replace the belt twice. Goes to say I’ve become a pro at disassembling and fixing this dryer…Read more

It did not fit OEM nut, even though my dryer was the compatible list. For anyone curious, this roller takes m10-1.25 nuts.Read more

2nd set in 6months. Since they’re all possibly made in the same factory – we’re hopeful our initial set were simply defective. EASY TO INSTALL once you get the machine taken apart. PAY ATTENTION TO how the old once come off (position of washers, etc). Rollers are DIRECT replacement of originals, no problem with their installation….ran quietly once put back together.Read more

If the tensioner alone doesn’t 3liminate ALL noise, then you need to replace these 4 rollers. Save $400 from a service provider and do it yourself. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours to disassemble the entire drier to replace these. You won’t regret doing this – your drier will be like new!Read more

Although it’s the same part number as what I used to fix my Samsung dryer previously. The threads are fine not coarse and may necessitate purchasing four new nuts to install. Required almost complete disassembly of dryer to install. At least that makes it easier to clean all that lint buildup.Read more

Product arrived quickly after order. I had been informed via email from ATMA that these wheels would fit my DV45K7600EW/A3 model Samsung dryer. However, after having to take apart the entire dryer in order to remove the old rollers (horrible design on part of Samsung – I will never again by a Samsung appliance!) I discovered the existing nuts did not fit these ATMA rollers. I had to go to my local hardware store and by a new set of 4 nuts that would fit the threads of these rollers. It took me a total of about two hours before I had my dryer put back together. So far everything seems to be working good and the horrible squeaking noise the dryer was making before is now gone. It was an arduous experience but I am glad it seems to have fixed the issue.Read more
