Quick update: I’ve disabled hibernation in Windows 10 and I haven’t had any problems logging in at all. This side swipe works for me every time and I like the compactness of this. I had another one that I gave five stars too but it was three times the money and was made for an industrial environment (at least that’s the way it looked) and connected through a lengthy cord. With the BIO-Key SideSwipe it almost looks like it’s part of my Dell XPS 13 and as I said it works great. This thing works like a charm. Windows 10 does disable the device if Windows go into hibernation for a long period of time and I have to remove/add the BIO-key again but other than that the BIO-key side swipe works great.Read more

Pros: Compact, reliable, and works with Windows 10 Hello. Far more reliable than the touch version of the same productBIO-key SideTouch Compact Enterprise Level USB Fingerprint Reader for Windows Hello Biometric Sign-in . Cons: High price, and somewhat bulky looking on ultraslim laptops Other thoughts: If you want a fingerprint scanner that will work with restrictive EAS security policies that prevent use of Windows Hello/Login, then tryThumbprint Security USB Reader which maintains its own authentication mechanism.Read more

This handy device makes logging into my laptop using Windows 10 Professional a much faster experience. With the complexity of passwords required today by most companies, typing them in is a pain! This device quickly reads your fingerprint and completes the login process in an instant. I have found the device to be very good at recognizing my fingerprint–if it misses it is usually because I was lazy and didn’t use a long enough stroke of the finger. I also use this device for Roboform (the password management software)–which is also simplified greatly using fingerprint recognition.Read more

This scanner is connected to my Plugable docking station so I use it when the laptop is in desktop mode (lid closed). The late 2016 HP Spectre x360 has Windows Hello camera so I use the camera when the laptop is open and I use this scanner when the laptop is closed. Windows 10 recognized the device immediately and had 0 issue with the setup and use. HP camera does not always turn on for some reason but the Bio-Key works each and every time. The scanner can be plugged in facing the opposite direction (depends on your USB plug) and it works fine too by the way. Was a bit hesitant based on some negative feedbacks but highly recommend this and well worth the money.Read more

Use it on my Win 10 Asus Zen laptop. Got this because I’ve been pleased with a fingerprint scanner for our main desktop – from another manufacturer. Pretty consistent, though cold or dishpan fingers sometimes = problem. Makes intermittent laptop use significantly faster / more convenient, and it’s a more secure technology, at least in concept. Slightly lower profile would be more useful for the newer, thinner laptops. Doesn’t block the USB port next to it, though. My index finger opens one account. My third finger opens another user account. Wife’s fingers are registered in a complimentary manner. Handy.Read more

I’ve been using this product for about 5 months so far. It works better than I expected. The laptop I had been using didn’t have a native fingerprint reader so I gave this a shot. It reads my fingerprint 99% of the time, backwards and forward. I began using the Dell Latitude 7490 laptops at work which have the built in reader and the native reader only works 50% of the time. The only thing I didn’t like at first with this unit was it was a bit bulky looking. One of my laptops has the USB ports lined up right next to each other along with the ethernet port and this is a snug, but usable, fit. I have not used the software that comes available to download.Read more

Quality is great, much better than another one I purchased for $25 off Amazon. Works perfectly with Windows Hello. Compatible with RoboForm and enpass. It recognizes my fingerprint on the first try every time.Read more

Works well, quickly recognizes my thumbprint. No more typing in anything to log in. Sometimes I have to remove and reconnect the USB hub to which it is attached or it doesn’t work, but I’m not sure if that’s a problem with the hub, my motherboard, or the device itself. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.Read more
