I can’t say enough positive things about Blasphemous – I had a lot of fun playing this game through. Everyone should be familiar with metroidvania style games at this point in their lives, especially considering how many have been made since SOTN. This game hooked me with its visual style, man – I’ve always been fascinated by the creepy and evil ways some movies and comics depict ancient religious cults, entities, and art. You know, like when there’s “an ancient being with thousands of names possessing a person” type movies and they go to the library and find these old tomes with the evil looking pictures of ancient demons to figure out how to exorcise them? Well, this game embodies ALL THAT. As your character explores the world, you’ll see some f*** up s***! This game is pixel art at its greatest…you gotta see it for yourself. Gore, demons, zombies, ghosts, naked and wandering tormented souls, depictions of human suffering in monster form, insanely disturbing and beautiful backgrounds and levels, etc etc etc! Some of my other favorite things: – great sprite animations – you can feel the impact of some attacks due to how well they drew this game up. Very polished – the music is the next greatest companion to the visual aspect of the game – dark, old, ominous, culty-religious music makes you creeped out and let’s you know s*** is getting serious, like during boss fights – this game feels like it has a ton of symbolism hidden behind almost everything, like some of the enemy depictions represented how people were executed by ancient religious leaders back in the day. I was on Wikipedia a lot learning about this stuff just by playing this game. History is creepy AF! Definitely look it up as you play for an added bonus to your game experience – and the last thing I wanted to point out is the English voice acting is AMAZING. The voices really fit the style and mood of the game and thus does so much to compliment the art and music. – there’s a fun cameo by someBODY from Bloodstained ,another Castlevania-style game (see images for a hint). – cutscenes are cool but confusing the first time around … you’ll see

I have the european version but this american release is pretty good. I’m happy many people can get this game without paying scalping prices for the LRG release. I hope more games like Blasphemous get this retail treatment and pleople stop paying those absurd prices for “limited” games.Read more

Easily one of the best indie games on the Switch. Think dark souls + Metroid (style). Not overly hard but does have some challenges to it. Very creative game. Art style is amazing and it’s just overall fun to play. Highly recommendedRead more

Read more

The media could not be loaded. Read more
