This works perfect. I wrapped it around a glass cookie jar where I keep propagations and the temperature remains steady in the mid 80 degrees. The glass does not get hot at all when touched. It keeps the feel of a greenhouse very effectively. Highly recommend. If this review helped you in any way, please click on ‘helpful’ so I know. I decided to get this pad due to the continuing cold weather the northeast (where I live) that has made germinating plant seeds outdoors this spring pretty much impractical. Setting up the pad was easy, and getting it to warm the soil in small planting pods works very well – if you make sure to insulate it from floors. My technique to do that simply required taking an old baking sheet and turning it upside down and then draping the the pad over the sheet right side up. The air trapped under the baking sheet created a very effective insulator. I sowed pepper plant seeds into fiber pods that were placed on the pad and then thoroughly watered them. The last setup steps were to turn on a grow light over the pad and to place some clear plastic food containers covers over the pods to “tent” them to keep the air inside them humid. I watered the pods daily and by the 6th day I had dozens of germinated pepper plants. Bottom line: give seeds warmth, light and moisture and they WILL germinate.Read more

Pretty simple, plug it in and place the newly planted seedlings on the mat. I dont understand why others want to add a thermostat, this mat heats continually at low temps, never getting to the burn point, just plug it into a normal 110 outlet. I like that its very water resistant too. I’m using the extra space on the mat for my Puure water filtering pitcher I water with and slowly but surely it brings the water temp up a little above room tempRead more

In a 70°F room, with a covered seedling starter tray, I’m getting about 82°F in the tray on average. I’ve seen it as low as 78°F and as high as 85° while running without a controller. I just finished germinating this year’s first batch of peppers. First sprout was in 3 days and the last one came up today on day 7. Much faster than my previous unheated germinations. 100% germination rate too (though luck was also a factor, I’m sure).Read more

I purchased this item to test it out and see if it in fact helps with seed germination. And it does! I used the heated mat and set the thermostat to 75 degrees. I normally keep my house around 70-74 degrees all day. The veggie seeds started germinating after 3 days. The downfall is that I left the heating mat underneath the seeds until all sprouted which (I think) caused most of my seedlings to stretched. After about 10 days, I was able to plant some of my seedlings into a larger container as they had already started producing their true leaves. My soil used for the seeds was organic potting soil (3 parts), perlite (2 parts), and coffee grounds (1 part). I planted tomatoes, onions, broccoli, green beans, lettuce, cabbage, marigolds, lavender, coneflowers, cucumbers, okra, and yellow squash. Everything germinated between 3-7 days except the lavender.Read more

I purchased this mat to heat my Kombucha as soon as the temperature outside dropped this fall. The first one I ordered worked for a minute and stopped. I kept it on my jar, but it never heated back up. I returned it, and was sent a replacement. That one too did the same thing. I then ordered a different mat to try to save my kombucha. Well, my batch grew mold due to the low temperature. Now I have to dump it, losing the SKOBY I paid money for as well. I do not recommend taking your chances with this product.Read more

I will edit this later if needed but I am so happy with these heating mats. They came up to nearly 80 degrees in just a few minutes. I left them on overnight and woke to beautiful, humid trays this morning. My seeds are very happy and I wish I had bought this mat sooner. Well made and customer service is outstanding!Read more

I was surprised that this item came from USA. It had USA plug and not useable in UK. I tried using it using a plug converter. Within 30 mins it become hot to touch and not a good thing to do. You really need a voltage converter as USA uses 110 voltage which is different from UK. I returned it.Read more

If buying from the UK be aware that this has a US plug and is 110v so can’t be used in the UK without a transformer.Read more

I received 2 of these and plugged them in for 3 hours. One got barely warmer than the tabletop, not warm enough to even help seeds germinate. On the other, the far third was warm, but the first 2/3 of the mat wasn’t warm at all. I have 2 other brands of heat mats which work properly, so I know what to expect. Save your money.Read more

The media could not be loaded. Easy to use, place & plug. Tough little mat. We got a little too ambitious and ended up buying 6 mats for our flowers and vegetables. I was worried about the stiffness as the mat comes rolled up, and doesn’t unroll flat, but once you plug it in, it becomes malleable and becomes flat. Heats well and evenly but there are no heat settings or temperature control. It’s always on as soon as you plug it in. We add a thickness of cardboard between the mats and the plants to make sure we don’t overheat the seedlings. It seems to work fine for us. Please see photos.Read more

I bought 4 of these to supplement my 20 x10 inch seedling mats which were not large enough to cover off the base of my Floralight rack trays (i put these next to each of the larger seedling mats and thus all my seedlings are getting some heat for germination). So far. I am pretty happy with the mats – all work as expected and the heat is evenly distributed. A nice bonus was the durable bands and temperature “padsÈ that were included – I wont be using these mats for making kombucha – but they definitely would be something that I would use if I were ever to make some. The instructions are clear that the mats can be used on metal, stone and glass, but not on plastic jars. I will report back after using these for a full growing season (I start my seedlings in Feburary and continue until early September for my 3 season garden). I am impressed enough that I would likely buy the larger mats from BN-LINK as I replace some of my older mats.Read more
