I have had my Briggs and Stratton 6.75 hp mower for 15 years motor has out lived 2 mower decks so far….Thought it had finally called it quits when even after replacing the carburetor, the primer bulb the mower would not start when it was cold. After some research I noticed that when I was depressing the primer bulb I was not seeing any gas spraying into the carb. Tried stacking gaskets between the base and the carb thinking that the base had warped from heat still no luck finally went and bought this part ….Well I was right about the base being heat warped since as soon as I put this on and primed 3 times mower started on the first pull. Price is right yes the baffle is plastic instead of metal but that does not affect the operation . Recommend this part if you are having cold start issue and your engine uses this type of primer base..Read more

I have a Snapper Hi Vac that had needed many extra pumps on the primer to start. However, when I couldn’t start it one day, I began to worry that I needed to replace the carburetor. So, I ordered a cheap carb, but I also remembered that when I had removed and cleaned the old primer base, the carb’s gasket was in crummy shape. I put the control on “Prime” and pumped the primer bulb and sure enough – there was no fuel begin shot through. I first put a new gasket on, but that didn’t work. I then removed the primer base, put the new gasket on top of the gasket in the new base and installed it. I pushed the primer bulb and – TA-DA! Fresh fuel! The mower cranked up instantly! Let this serve as a lesson to others – start with the less-invasive repairs FIRST! And check to see if your primer is working. Frankly, considering how cheap this part is, I’ll never try to replace a primer bulb again. It’s a huge pain and can be time-consuming. Now, I have a new carburetor still in the box that I’ll keep sealed “just in case”.Read more

I bought a different one of these that wasn’t Briggs and it didn’t work. This one worked. However I read that you should be careful with tightening the screws holding it in place as this can warp the plastic seal with the gasket. So on this one I was careful and didn’t torque it too much. The other one may have been OK but I used a ratchet wrench and torqued it a lot, so may damaged it. Anyway put this one on and it’s magic. Three pushes on the bulb and one easy pull and it always starts. You can tell if it’s going to work by looking at the little tube inside the carb. When you push the primer it should spray gas in the carb. You can see the tube by removing the air filter, this will expose the inside of the carb.Read more

This air cleaner primer base is 100 % complete. Includes rubber vacuum hose, carb gasket and primer bulb (Just As Pictured). It is also universal for Briggs engines that use same style carb air cleaner base plate that does not require a primer bulb. Also includes the plastic insert & instructions to close off primer bulb area if primer bulb is not required , and after primer bulb is removed, the primer bulb area plastic insert just snaps into place as the primer bulb retaining ring does. Very easy modification if primer bulb is not required on your Briggs engine.Read more

I replaced my old lawnmower carburetor on my 6.5 HP engine with this one. Very easy to do and no adjustment was required. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to install from start to finish. This includes removing the old carburetor. The lawn mower starts on the first or second pull and runs great … a lot better than before!Read more

I tried to be cheap repairing my old one .(double the gaskets, change the bulb ,clean screen and base with air and carb cleaner ) . ONE OUT OF 4 WORKED. bought a cheap primer base to save 5 dollars didnt work, no gas was going in the carb when priming. The one working perfectly. You get what you pay for.Read more

Exact replacement for my mower with one exception, the shield that extends over the opening for the carb is metal on my original, but this one is plastic. I don’t think it will cause a problem as that part doesn’t appear to be under stress or pressure, but I imagine it may prove to be less durable. I doubt the mower will outlast it, however, and I always have the original, so I don’t believe it will be an issue. everything else seems to be an exact match and my primer works again (yay!). I would buy again.Read more

Perfect fit for my craftsman lawnmower I replaced the original carb and used this as the original was sucking all of the fuel from the tank even when not running. I tried removing and cleaning inspecting the float and needle and nothing worked. Once replaced with new carb and a new airbox it starts with the key after 3-4 pumps of the primer. Life is easier and I get to move on with cutting the lawn 917.376741Read more

I had a hard time starting my old Murray lawn mover. I cleaned the carb, changed the spark plug, pressed the primer bulb 3x or 4x or 5x it wouldn’t start. If I used the Quick start spray it would fire, so I new the problem was with with the primer bulb. Replacing the air Cleaner Primer Base Replacement 792040 691753 496116 did the job. Now after 3 primer presses an one pull the engine starts and purrs like it used to.Read more
