This is a subjective opinion derived from my own private testing, but our testing led me to believe that even so-called drinking water certified hoses may not be safe because the legal mandates don’t cover every toxin that may be present in these hoses. After reading a report at ecocenter.org/search/node/garden%20hose I came to the conclusion that PVC based hoses are the riskiest to use. Rubber is better, and polyurethane is best. Far more expensive, but ‘what price heath?’. Unfortunately the popular Camco brand was not tested so we tested ourselves. The lower cost Camco drinking water safe hoses (that use brass fittings) failed the test. However, the more expensive Camco PREMIUM hoses (darker in color and zinc coasted brass fittings) did pass the test. Interestingly, the premium hose is still made from PVC, but did test safe in our testing). I ended up keeping the one Camco Premium hose, but next time a drinking water certified hose was required I bought an ELEY polyurethane hose. It has brass fittings, but this hose is listed in the aforementioned report, and levels were very low.Read more

I read lots of reviews before buying this hose and therefore had low expectations. Maybe I am only thrilled with this sparkling white lead-free totally functional hose because the hose I was replacing was in the sorriest state imaginable. It’s true the bar was set low, but still I was impressed with this hose because so far I have had none of the issues other reviewers had. Mine does not leak at the connection (and I thought it would, because this seems like a problem I would have) nor is it too firm to coil up (although I do live in an inferno-like city where temps routinely hover around 110 degrees). I wanted a white hose to lessen the likelihood of burns from the hose and hot water. I fill water dishes for my animals using the hose, so I liked the “drinkable” factor, although I am not sure how this differs from other hoses as surely they all must meet minimum lead levels. I have no complaints about this hose and only wish I had gotten a longer one!Read more

Short water hoses are hard to find, I use these short hoses as leader hoses to my watering station with multiple timers. I can get several summers out of each hose. After a couple of years of use they all seem to break the same way: the plastic connector breaks off from the hose when I try to remove it from the spigot. I have hard water which is rough on the plastic connectors. Brass connectors last longer but I have not found a four foot hose with all brass connectors yet. One thing to be aware of is that this hose is not as wide as a 5/8″ garden hose (it 1/2″ hose). This reduces the water pressure that the hose can generate. This is to be expected with 1/2″ hose but figured I should note this as heads up as the first time I got this hose I based my purchase on the length not width and was surprised. Needed a longer water hose for the 5th wheel and decided to get this one. It’s just like the one I had for the older RV but longer. Depending on the site you are on, sometimes my 20-foot hose was stretched a bit long, so this one solves that problem. I like that the end has a larger star connector which helps make for an easier and tighter seal. I add a water purifier inline on mine into the side of the RV and water taste just fine right out of the faucet. One thing I recommend is to rinse the hose out before your first use just to make sure is clean, and when done attach the one end to the other to prevent any water left inside from leaking out into you camper storage area while in transit or storage. Keeps bugs and debris out of it. I do wish it was a bit softer/ more flexible but again it’s made to last and I can’t fault it for that. I under any obligation to write this review. Stiffest most inflexible hose i’ve ever purchased. I seldom write reviews, but this hose demands a review. I bought it in December and found it extremely stiff, but thought warm weather might soften it up. Didn’t happen. Now late May and still to stiff to use. Remains stiffly coiled, won’t even straighten out. Should have returned it when I could. Double dumb, I bought two of them! Will find a better hose and junk the two Camcos.Read more

This thing is a POS. I had it less than 6 months and came home to a flooded backyard. It’s not like I even tugged on it. It just broke off. My previous one I bought from Walmart lasted over 10 years until it started having a slow leak. Do not buy unless you want a flooded yard.Read more

worst item I have ever gotten from Camco. The male end of one hose was not crimped on properly so it just plain fell off. The other hose leaked and would have come apart under pressure at the same spot. This is not fun when a freeze is coming on and you are trying to winterize and the plumber is on site. Good hose. I needed something not that excessively long, to refill my 55 & 40 gallon aquariums in the rec room – instead of having to haul countless pails of water. Also the fact that it is a drinking water hose, means it’s safe for my fish. It’s flexible & you can wind it up fairly easily for storage. What I did was attach a nozzle on the end of it – so water isn’t spilling out from laundry tub to the fish tanks. You can get an adapter for your faucet to attach the hose to. If you’re worried about chorine from the tap, add some Stress Coat anti chorine as you fill the tank. Another idea – if you have a huge amount of houseplants like I do, or even over winter a bunch of plants in your basement area, you could use this – with a multi position sprayer – to carefully water or mist your plants. Just have a mop ready in case you over spray!!!Read more

This is the first time I’ve purchased the Camco 5/8′ inch fresh water hose and I would buy it again. Previously to purchasing this Camco Fresh Water Hose I’ve always used Teknor Apex AquaFlex 1/2″ water hoses for my RV. The Camco water hose material seems to be the same as the AquaFlex hose without the blue stripe. The biggest difference between the Camco brand and AquaFlex is the size of the hose 5/8″ vs 1/2″ and price. The Camco fresh water house is thicker with a larger inside diameter. This provides greater water flow and is faster for filling or draining water tanks. The price of the Camco house is also 30% cheaper than the AquaFlex hose. Both Camco and AquaFlex are good fresh water hoses. Based on price and quality … I prefer the Camco water hose and would purchase it againRead more

I am done with these crummy crinky hoses. They can only be a best seller because there is no quality alternative. The fittings are also cheap and will get bent out of shape, leak or spring holes within the first season. Not worth the money.Read more

I have 2 of them and they work well. The only weird thing is that they do not easily straighten out or if they are straight, they do not easily coil up for storage. I put it out in May and take it in in October. May be more flexible in warmer weather. The reason this is a concern is if you try to roll up a straight hose, it will bend (kink) which worries me. I do not want hose to break. I have older ones ( starting to look ugly on the outside) that coil and straighten out with ease.Read more
