Update Oct 2020: 17 months later, I have had zero problems with this cable and its performance. The computer it is connected to is powered on 24×7 therefore the cable has been in continuous use all this time. It has worked admirably, flawlessly, without any perceivable lag. I still see no need for USB 3, considering my use case. As an IT engineer, I’ve known since the late 90s that USB had cable length limitations of 5 meters / 16.4 feet. Enter my 2019 challenge of needing USB cable that’s significantly longer – and without pesky USB hubs in the middle. This cable was perfect for what I needed and it has been consistently reliable. It’s running from my Network/AV closet, into the attic, and down a wall to the living room. On that side of the cable is a Plugable USB 2.0 Hub. Attached to that Hub is an Xbox Wireless Adapter for Win10 and a Plugable Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter. This gives me the ability to do work on my PC (let’s face it, I did it so I could play PC games) from the living room while keeping the equipment out of sight in a properly ventilated closet. I did give pause to consider a USB 3.0 extension cable, however none of the devices I’m using are USB 3.0, and I was unable to justify the jump in cost for “future proofing” .. what amounts to Bluetooth & Xbox behind a wall. 2.0 is still going to be around for a very long time and considering my use case, it was the sensible and cost-conscious way to go. Here’s what I have attached to the cable – since it worked out great for me: * Plugable 4-port powered USB 2.0 Hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P2BY5I * Plugable Bluetooth 4.0 LE Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ZIILLI * Microsoft Xbox Adapter for Windows: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZB7W4QURead more

This came in very handy for my home security system. My genious installer mounted my camera system dvr in the attic, with custom cooling fans. He ran a 50ft hdmi and this extra long usb cable to my bedroom hdtv. This allowed me to use a wireless mouse in my bedroom to control the camera system. Best part is if a thief breaks in, they are never going to find the dvr. Lol. Thanks Amazon for such a great quality productRead more

This is for the AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable Type A-Male to A-Female Long Cord – 32 Feet. Wasn’t sure how to review this. I think it is a good product but it didn’t work for me. I ordered this to connect a USB scanner to my PC from across the room. My PC wouldn’t recognize the scanner with this cable. However, I found that that I could use any cable more than about 36 inches long. So I am thinking that the scanner has a very low power USB port. I kind of knew this going in but thought the active amplifier in the cable would overcome the lower power. I didn’t. Amazon took back the cable no questions asked. So while I didn’t really get what I wanted, the overall experience was positive.Read more

I used this cable to connect an Ant+ dongle to my computer and recieve signal from an external device. While my cable was able to make an initial connection to the external device, the computer continuously dropped the signal whereas there were not drops when the ant dongle was plugged directly to the computer. I suspect this is either an issue with the cable itself, though have had only good experiences with Amazon Basics products, or the sheer 32 ft length, despite being active, was not strong enough to carry the signal. Either way, not a knock on Amazon Basics, but would review your usage requirements since this cable may not do the job.Read more

This cable isn’t supposed to work. Per the USB spec, I should need a hub every 5m to not break the propagation delay limit. But here I am with a 10m cable driving my Schiit Modi (audio DAC) from my Macbook all the way on the other side of the room with absolutely no issues. I’m guessing that there’s a simple hub at the Rx end of the cable. The cable also looks pretty good. It’s relatively thin and flexible. I haven’t done any testing to determine just how good this is or just how non-compliant the cable is, but for my application, it works like a charm. I’m also blown away by the ($15) price! Well done Amazon!Read more

I bought this to extend the range of the wireless headphones that I use with my desktop PC in my spare room. They used to cut out right in front of the refrigerator 15 feet away down the hall. With this, I was able to relocate the dongle at the end of the hallway near the fridge. Now my headphones work everywhere in my old, small two-bedroom house. I am very satisfied with the results. I chose this one in particular because the cable was black, rather than transparent/translucent. Also, I figured customer service would be easy with and AmazonBasics product.Read more

I installed a home security monitoring system with the cameras mounted around the roof and the recording hub in the attic. I needed long HDMI and USB cables to bring the video feed and mouse control into my home office. This Amazon Basics USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable withstood the stress of being pulled through a narrow conduit and is now working fine giving me mouse control to the system at a distance. Very pleased with the outcome.Read more

At this point there’s nothing for me to dislike about the product. It enabled me to extend a HUSBZB-1 Z-wave/Zigbee controller stick closer towards the center of my house for better IoT device wireless connectivity, which saved me from installing another computer for my Home Assistant home automation system. My Home Assistant server is located at one end of my house and while adding additional z-wave/zigbee repeaters was an option, this extension cable was a much less expensive solution. It suited my purpose.Read more

I got this 9,75 mtr active usb cable (very good quality) almost on a whim of an idea to extend a webcam from the PC room to another room. It works perfectly with an old MS 2000 little webcam then thought , why not put the cam out of a window to test. Using OBS Streamer App on my PC with the record video button it was surprisingly good , video and audio saved for as long as I want then check and delete as required . It runs fine into a 2.0 or 3.0 usb socket on a PC ..no loss of signal at all . I might drill a hole through a wall and seal it up with the cam outside under a soffit and the connection inside . So for 12 quid and an old webcam I got me a full on home security system.Read more

I was a little apprehensive about how this extention might work being so long and going in to a USB splitter (passive). However, everything work well without hitch or problem. I am glad that both my keyboard and mouse are working as they should, however I have not tried anything more demending of this set up so don’t know if there is limitations with other devices.Read more

These USB extension cables worked perfectly. We wanted to extend our Mouse, CCTV Screen, and be able to plug in a memory stick from time to time. I can’t account for amperage loss, but functionality was not effected by the extra long extensions. Great product, working like a dream. thank you.Read more
