This thing is…fine but it’s not really with $20-25. The little pegs that are meant to hold the strings don’t hold very well and they come out all the time. The clip at the top is fine but it’s not adjustable like the last one I ordered (which for some reason is now unavailable). The included strings are pretty bad but I guess at least it comes with something. You’re way better off getting some DMC embroidery floss for like 30 cents each. The board itself is inconvenient to hold. Due to it being slick plastic it slides around if you try to do it in your lap and the shape (more narrow at the top than the bottom) also makes it so you can’t hold it between your legs. Even on a table it slides a bit. All of this is manageable for me, an adult, but I got it for my daughter in the hope it will make it easier for her but she’s finding it hard to deal with. She’d be better off with a piece of cardboard with some slits cut in it like I used when I was a kid. (Since they have different models on one listing I included a photo so you can see the exact model this review is discussing.)Read more

I bought this as a birthday gift for our 10 year old granddaughter. She’s having lots of fun making friendship bracelets and keychains. It sits nicely on a flat surface ( doesn’t slide around excessively), helps her to keep the floss strands tight, and also helps to keep her place when she wants to take a break for a bit. She has felt more comfortable starting out with 6 strands instead of 10. The keychains she’s been making are 30 rows…so she timed herself and it took her 1 minute and 10 seconds to do 2 rows (with 6 strands she does 3 colors with 2 rows of each color)… so she figured it takes her 30 to 45 minutes to make one keychain (including breaks…lol). 30 rows is also a good size for the friendship bracelets she’s been making for her younger cousins too. I’m pleased with the quality and she’s having fun…so it’s a keeper and I recommend it.Read more

Omg I love this so much! I bought strings because I thought that this would only be the clipboard part and that the string storage would be empty. Was delighted to find strings in it! The strings are okay quality but the most important thing is that the stings don’t rip when you pull hard on the knot! Definitely recommend.Read more

I bought this for my daughter when she was much younger and thought she was just too young to use it. Then I recently bought it for her again at 12yrs old. The item does not work well. I simply wasted my money. My daughter is able to make intricate, impressive bracelets, so that’s how I know this plastic thing just doesn’t work well.Read more

I was hesitant to buy this, based on the bad reviews. However, I couldn’t find anything else like it on Amazon or Etsy, or anywhere else for that matter, so I decided to give it a go. The weight is decent. I like the white color, as it doesn’t look quite as childlike of an item. The clip to grip the thread works well. The down sides are: the drawer for the thread won’t hold a full DMC skein in each slot. It would be better to make it one big drawer, rather than little slots. The weight could be a little heavier. And I had to add gripper pads to the back side of it to keep it from sliding around while in use. Also, it would be helpful if the peg slots that hold the threads in use, held a little more snugly. I will likely try to find a thin fabric tape to put in the gap. All in all, with nothing else out there to compair it to (for adult use), I can’t complain. And I will use this quite frequently. I’ve used tape to a desk, a safety pin to my thigh, and a clip board. In my opinion this beats them all.Read more

Currently laid up post foot surgery so needed something to keep me busy. Keeps strings in order and clip holds them tights, comes with some extra thread that is actually pretty good. A little pricey for what it is, but what ya gonna do? Bought it anyway.Read more

I bought this for my 6 year old. She REALLY wanted a friendship bracelet maker, but most of what I found was for 8 and up. She can handle a lot of other toys in that range, but I was concerned about frustration levels if she had to keep track of each strand on her own. I was absolutely right – this one was a challenge (she let her babysitter finish the first bracelet after about a dozen rows). So we have a long way to go with this, but she was not completely frustrated and will come back to it and ‘grow into it’. I’m positive she would have soured on the whole idea if I had gotten her one of the kits that does not hold the strands. I also like that it allows for breaks, and I love the side drawer that holds the floss. I would recommend this for an eight year old, or a slightly younger child with really good motor skills and patience. It’s a great ‘first/beginner’ set that won’t overwhelm a younger child.Read more
