I’m always leery of products like this when I read such disparate reviews. But I bought it anyway. I have some old movies on VHS that I want to bring over to MP4 and DVD. The install was very easy. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!! 0. DON’T INSTALL THE USB YET!! 1. Install the driver. DON’T REBOOT YET 2. Install the software. REBOOT WHEN DONE. DON’T RUN IT YET! 3. Plug in the USB (I had it in a USB 3.0 port) 4. Run the software as administrator (or it won’t work right I found out) 5. Do the configuration as shown in the booklet I plugged my VCR into the video/audio connections and fired it up. It worked great! The quality of the video is good considering the VHS I was copying isn’t the newest. Audio was great. I have quite a number of VHS tapes I’m going to move to electronic format. This seems to be the thing to do the trick. I’d certainly recommend it. Hooked upRead more

Let me begin by saying I am not technologically competent, which is why I purchased this particular program to convert my old VHS family tapes to DVD. I did not want to do a lot of fancy editing. I just wanted to preserve my old VHS tapes. There is a little paper booklet of instructions, and they are okay, but also leaves out some key details. There is also a more complete set of directions that download to your computer. Please use these directions. I was using Windows 10 so I know it works with this, even though some may say it does not. I understand because I almost returned the program several times. But, all the problems were the result of my not reading the directions carefully. Example, take off the power save option on your computer. My setting was for my computer to go to sleep after 15 minutes, and that kept screwing up my efforts before I figured that out. But, the crowning jewel in all of this is the tech department, specifically Tyler. I emailed him many times, and he patiently and quickly answered all my questions. He should get a raise! The end result is that I have converted all my old family tapes to DVD, and also copied them to flash drives which is really convenient.Read more

I have converted about 20 VHS videos so far with very little trouble. I have more VHS and others yet to go! It has stopped occasionally but a simple restart fixes it. It is not a video editor although it has some capability to crop, but for simply getting video from tape to digital, it’s super simple. I thought about just sending all the tapes to a service for transfer to digital, but I can get more value out of doing it this way, and I can see what I have. Some of the tapes only have a little bit of video, some I don’t care about, so I now know what I have and how to put it together. I’ll use a different video editing software for that, but the library I now have of all the old stuff is awesome. Using Windows10.Read more

What a terrific way to convert and share memories with today’s technology. I am able to eliminate all those bulky VHS tapes (and I have A LOT) and burn those memories onto just a few thin DVDs. I had never looked into this ability before and was surprised by how many choices there are. There are more expensive versions, but I opted for this product. It arrived within 2 days as promised and contained EVERYTHING I needed (except the VCR, of course). Easy plug & play installation. I was set up within minutes. Everything was perfect except I could not record any audio. After spending an evening trying everything, including a fresh install, I sent an email to the company. Within 1 hour, the owner contacted me back to assist with tech support. Crazy right? The owner! Keith was very patient and helpful and was able to assist me with my issue. Talk about customer service! So yeah, I selected the right product at the right price. And by the way, you can also convert ANY old VHS movie you bought years ago (although it probably is considered piracy and so, you didn’t hear it from me.) The software basically turns into a TV and so, whatever you play on the VCR, the software records and you own it. So, if the technology involved in converting your VHS tapes intimates you, this is the product to purchase. You have full support only moments away!Read more

It took me almost an entire weekend to figure it out, but once I did, it was great. I must say the directions booklet that came with this product lacked a few details as far as step by step instructions, especially for someone like me who is not computer savvy. After finally going on YouTube, a few details were cleared up for me and I was able to record all of my old family VHS tapes to DVD. Very relieved now that I no longer have to worry about these tapes deteriorating over time. It was worth the time and the $30 spent on the product.Read more

I purchased this in the hopes of converting all my parents and grandparents video cassettes into DVDs but when I tried to record a home movie from my when my brother was born an error saying that the media “was protected” popped up and caused the whole program to freeze. I can get the video to play on the programs tiny screen and hear it but if I can’t record it what’s the point?Read more

The USB device seems to be pretty good, but the “VHS2DVD Wizard” software leaves a lot to be desired and is very “buggy”. On one of my computers, the preview screen was very small and was truncated on one side so that I could not see the entire picture that was being displayed by the video tape player. I contacted support for the product and they promptly replied that I should lower my screen resolution and possibly move the application window to the far left of my screen. Changing the resolution had no effect but moving the window to the left did cause the entire video to be displayed although still very small. Both the “editor” and the “dvd burner” parts of the software and constantly hanging up when certain things are done. The software also cutoff the first 15 to 20 minutes of my capture for no apparent reason. Was able to use the USB device with other capture software that I have in order to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD. Would really not recommend this product to anyone.Read more
