This E string is just what I needed. My daughter is four and beginning a Suzuki violin program. I needed a violin in order to play with her as she learns. Being a viola player, I already had a viola and didn’t want to have to pay for a violin rental every month. I didn’t even know if an E string for a viola existed. A quick Amazon search, and I found this. I went ahead and ordered it. I was a little worried, as my viola is a 15 1/8″ size, that this would be too big. So far, it’s just fine! I bought the high tension since I knew I would be having it at a high tension to fit my viola. The sound is good! It’s quite rich on my viola and sounds even better than I would have imagined.Read more

These strings are simply amazing. Note that this string is the violin’s E string, made long enough for a viola. If you’ve a 5-string viola, you’ll need one of these in addition to the standard CGDA viola strings (it’s not included with the helicore viola string set). You WILL need a parchment or other similar bridge sleeve for this string, as it is fine enough (and tension on a 5-string high enough) that it will cut down into your bridge otherwise over time (I observed this on a maple bridge).Read more

If you’re the kind of oddball like me who has a 5-string viola (NOT a violin with a C string – I’m talking an instrument with a viola-sized body but with a fifth string tuned to the E of the violin), this is one of your very few choices. I’m usually not a big fan of Helicore strings, but this E does the job very well. It is strong and mellow sounding and does not stick out too obnoxiously from the tone color of the A strings. This high tension version delivers extra power.Read more

I re-string my viola once per year (whether it needs it or not 🙂 ). The Helicores provide consistent sound and, for the most part , require very little tuning once they are stretched , which takes half a day.Read more

My son insists on this specific brand of viola strings. They do sound much better than the value brand that our local stores carry.Read more

These are much better strings than normally come on a student instrument. Sound quality is better with the Helicore center. Would buy these again for student use.Read more

These are good strings at a reasonable price. Tuning is very stable, the sound is very articulate, which I think compliments the viola very well. Update: I’ve been playing viola for several additional years and since played many brands of strings. And these are still very good strings … and preferred for instruments into the upper middle range in price by a well-known luthier in north-central Pa. Another advantage is that they are relatively low-tension. They are simply very comfortable to play.Read more

I am very disappointed with this A string… It came damaged, I didnt notice until my teacher was helping me put it on my viola and we noticed a massive hemorrhage in the string. My teacher said I would not be able to use it, it would cut my finger if I played or break very quickly.Read more

Within two weeks of being fitted the C string broke. These strings are awful and not worth £48. Could not give less that one star due to system. Do not buy.Read more

Mein Favorit …Read more

Disappointed with sound of this string- very metally bright like a cheaper string. I will not be using this.Read more
