This is my third Dell charger for my XPS12. The problem with the previous two stemmed from Dell checking for a genuine/non-third-party adapter using a thin center pin in the connector that is easily broken or eventually fails. When you go to buy a replacement you are forced to buy one of “their” more expensive adapters. If their genuine adapter fails or you try and use a third-party adapter, you get a message saying something like “can not determine adapter type” and it wont charge and it throttles performance down to a painstakingly slow level. Suddenly just opening a folder goes from instant to taking 5 seconds, opening a photo pushes 10 seconds, videos take a minute to open. The kicker is that there is NOTHING WRONG with the adapter. Just a tiny wire that tells the computer it’s a Dell charger fails. The ability to power and charge the laptop is still fine but Dell decides to hurt their customers by disabling it. As for this specific adapter. It appears genuine and is detected as a genuine adapter that performs as intended. My computer I spent 1300 bucks on functions like it used to and not like an entry level Windows 98 computer. Will update review if this one fails as well, but so far so good.Read more

Supposedly this is a genuine Dell OEM replacement for a Dell laptop. Though it physically fits just fine, Dell’s proprietary bloatware refuses to recognize it. Therefore the laptop does not charge, even though the AC adapter is fine (?) and the laptop is fine–yeesh. Dell’s customer service was unhelpful since we purchased it through Amazon and not directly from Dell. Smells like Dell is taking a few pointers from Apple’s playbook. UPDATE: I replaced the battery for this laptop and tried this adapter again, just in case. The same message popped up (see photo). This adapter is definitely either a fake or a reject part. BUYER BEWARE OF THIS SELLER! I picked up another adapter from a different seller and it works just fine.Read more

Worked for a couple of months then computer states doesn’t recongnize it. Called Dell tells me none that you buy on line will last very long not the same cord. Order one from Dell for 49.00 with 1 year warranty. Lesson learned by from where you know you are getting the right part.Read more

The product arrived as expected. I’ve used it one week and it has started from the git go to prove it works as a DELL power supply. Let’s put it this way. I read the reviews before buying it. A few of the reviews indicated it went bad a month after using it. I haven’t had it that long. But if it fails after a month or two, I will change my rating. But for now, it’s what I expected it to be and it arrived when it said it would. So far I am happy and I expect to stay happy. Like this :-)Read more

On the dell website this charger is $50.00…… ridiculous. I’ve read multiple reviews on amazon and also on the dell website saying that after a couple months this charger breaks. That is what happened with the original charger that came with my computer. I would rather pay half the price, if it’s going to need to be replaced anyways. And I got the 2 year protection. Still paid less that what dell is charging. And this charger works perfectly, for now.Read more

The website has pictures of the adapters so you can match the text one the white square tag on the adapter to the original one if you still have it around. If you DO NOT know the codes from the little white tag on your adapter you can find them on Google with your computer make and model to help ensure a proper adapter match. I followed these steps and took time to match the white tag text and search Google. My adapter arrived quickly and it was the correct model for my daughter’s laptop so we were able to charge it up and begin using the laptop again.Read more

This is the third Dell adapter I’ve had to replace. I bought the computer in August 2018. The original adapter stopped working before the warranty expired. It took months of troubleshooting to determine the cause. Non-OEM adapters won’t work (one of the reasons I will never purchase another Dell laptop). This adapter replaces an adapter I purchased in March 2020, which was to replace the one I purchased in October 2019. I don’t have any issues with any of my other adapters or laptops–the machine gets very light use, never travels, and yet Dell adapters seem built to fail. It’s a shame because I remember when it was a strong brand that was easy to upgrade and repair, reliable. . . not anymore.Read more

This product arrived on time in excellent condition, and usually works fine. I have only one issue. Occasionally when I reboot my computer, I get a message saying “Unable to identify power source. Battery may not charge. Use only genuine Dell accessories.” But this is a genuine Dell accessory, it’s the exact item recommended for my Dell laptop, and despite the message it still functions and charges my battery without any problems.Read more
