The product is good, decent brass valve and all. I wasnt really able to tell from the ad if I could modify it for an old work application, and somebody answered that they did, so i bought it. I’ve included some pictures to hopefully illustrate that it was easily modified for an old work application. The only thing i would do differently is probably make extra sure that the hole I drilled inside the wall through the floor was dead center below the opening for the rough in. Also, the trim ring is nice and big, and the box is shallow enough to slide up inside a standard 2×4 wall, which allowed me to attach the pex while the valve was installed in the box.Read more

Wanted to add an ice maker outlet box in my garage. ” IF ” you’re cutting a hole in sheet rock, do this for a better fit. Trace inside square hole, remove sheet rock, place outlet box in hole, trace around 4 ears that protrude out from box to properly secure, cut them out. traced Two small pieces wood, ( I used OSB strips about 4″ x 9″ length ) place the wood in back of the sheet rock behind sheet rock and screw in securing the wood to sheet rock. place outlet box inside hold and ears will be against wood, not the sheet rock, allowing for a clean install. Not cutting out sheet rock for ears will cause the outlet box not to fit flush with sheet rock leaving 1/2″ gapRead more

This was the perfect solution for my ice maker supply as I was changing out CPVC supply plumbing in my house for PEX. The housing and valve itself are really good as well as easy to install however I deducted (1) star for the plastic nut that retains the valve to the housing. Mine immediately busted after the wall was completely closed up & painted after installation due to angular pressure from the way the PEX line came up to the valve. It happened during tightening the new copper ice maker line via compression fitting to the valve assembly. I will have to go in and replace it with a metal solution from the other side of the wall when I replace a bathroom cabinet on the opposite side of the wall sometime in the next couple years. I highly suggest substituting some kind of metal nut for that plastic one prior to installation.Read more

Two things, not only did this ice box come broken, it didn’t work for Pex pipe! I’m a smart person, commercial building inspector in fact so I do know a thing or two. When I decide to install it broken and just reach out for a new trim ring, I went to expand the pex pipe and realized the pipe slid over the brass inlet without even expanding it. I should have not been able to slide the pipe over the fitting without enlarging the pex. I threw the ice maker box in the trash, wrote off the whatever I spent on it and probably won’t buy advertised plumbing parts and pieces on line again.Read more

I’m hoping they make this right and send me what the description says however I need to install this asap and I have to return this to hopefully get a pex 1/2” plate that I can secure to my stud wall so I can drywall now I am hung up waiting to get a refund and will have to purchase and wait again to get a correct part I hope. If this was sent by mistake I understand and hope they send me the right part as the description says and not this wall plate that does nothing for me. I will update as soon as I get response from this company.Read more

After being in our house for 25 years we purchased a new refrigerator that had a water dispenser. I decided to add a new water line myself and bought this to add a water hookup. Several issues: This is made for new construction, not for existing work. I had to cut back the Sheetrock farther than I wanted and then had to apply plaster to finish. If you are not a professional, this part is not for you. I am pleased with how it finished off, even if I had not planned on some of the extra work. The box is perhaps a bit light, I would not recommend this for a public or commercial application. The valve seems of decent quality and connected quickly to the Pex water line. If you are buying this, be aware that it requires knowledge of several trades to install well.Read more

Worked great. I put it in the wall of the closet under the stairs in the basement so it was easy to get to both sides. I used #10 counter sunk machine screws through the drywall and the outer holes in the tabs with nuts on the back and they were hidden by the cover. The one mistake was using the outside of the face frame for the hole. Had to cut more. Use the back shell as the template as it must set in the wall a bit for the tabs to be flat on the back of the drywall.Read more

No brainer installation. Determine the height you want it and screw it into the stud. Depending on your stud spans, you’ll probably have to add some blocking or another stud to catch the opposite side. Overall, straight forward product, easy install..Read more

Nicely made, with a removable bezel that is wide enough to hide screw tabs and bigger than planned hole in drywall. I did have to widened the vertical opening to accommodate the box with the PEX pipe connected rotating into the opening about 1/2 inch more than the box height. I notched out the drywall for the tabs on one stud and empty side which left me with enough drywall between the tabs to attach a small pieve of 1×4 to firmly attach the empty side. The 1/4 turn valve was just right neither too loose or tight. I would buy this againRead more

I used this ice maker outlet box in an old-work application behind my refrigerator, just like Tom from the US showed in his review. I forgot to take a picture before I put it in the wall, but the modifications were just screwing some small pieces of wood behind the mounting tabs on each side. The tricky bit is getting the box through the hole in the drywall: you need to take the valve off, tilt the box and slide it in sideways, then slide the box up the wall cavity to put the valve on and make the pex connection before fastening it to the drywall with a few drywall screws into the wood. Make sure you centre it between studs so you have room to manoeuvre it. Quality-wise, it’s decent. In your hands the box feels somewhat flimsy, but once it’s installed it feels solid. Make sure you fasten it on both sides. The valve is solid brass and looks to be high quality to my uneducated eyes. Three minor niggles: 1. The valve handle is pretty stiff. 2. The faceplate ratchets are too coarse, making it impossible to get it perfectly tight against the drywall if the ratchet doesn’t line up. 3. The Eastman brand name is stamped into the front of the faceplate in large letters. (But 2 and 3 don’t really matter because it’s behind the refrigerator where it won’t be seen often.) I have not connected the other end of the 1/2″ pex tubing to the water supply yet, so can’t comment on whether or not it leaks, etc.Read more

Pex fitting with a 1/4” compression tube, installation tabs and a nice trim piece. Easy to install and the trim piece hides the drywall cut for a professional finish. Cheaper than big box stores and works really well. Highly recommendRead more

I like things to look nice and neat, even behind fridges and stoves. This rough-in box is great because it includes a trim flange that snaps into place once you’ve installed drywall and painted. So, you have a nice looking and functional shutoff box for your fridge water line. Highly recommended.Read more

Bought it for a fridge connection. In stores they are double the price. Installed it and worked without a hiccup. This is something you hide behind a fridge hence it doesn’t need to look good, it just needs to work.Read more
