Nice USB device. Be warned, This will ONLY unlock a LOCAL user account. It WILL NOT unlock a Microsoft user account. If you have forgotten Your Microsoft user password, the only remedy is to reset the computer. This should be stated in the description but is not.Read more

Short version – this worked on a Lenovo 540 with Windows 7 with a forgotten password formerly on a corporate domain. I interrupted the boot sequence to set the priority of USB HDD above the SSD hard drive (tab to boot on the startup menu, then hit enter – select USB HDD and press “+” to move it to the top, then F10 to save, then exit to restart with the USB provided by the supplier installed. Provided the ability to reset localadmin to no password, then logged on after restarting (remove the USB first!) and I was able to log in as that local administrator so I could upgrade the laptop to Windows 10 and start fresh. I was surprised, this really worked. Long version – my wife had an old laptop that the company no longer wanted back – Lenovo 540, Windows 7. The tech support guys said we were on our own to reclaim it since she had forgotten the password and they didn’t have the old admin login – they did say “there are a lot of free utilities out there to reset the password and good luck”. I am leery of freeware – some is fantastic – and some will encrypt your hard drive and try to extract ransom from you and then still leave you with an encrypted hard drive. So what to do? I went to Amazon figuring I could at least check reviews, and if I found I wasted my money I could at least complain if I wasn’t able to return it. Paid off, this really worked right out of the box.Read more

You don’t need a Recovery CD for a password reset. I have spent over $300 the past couple years resetting it or paying someone to do it. It’s as simple as hitting the return button and the shift key. Look up on YouTube it’s easy as that! Password reset or restoring your computer will fix almost everything on da thing! Just make sure you have a pourable drive to save all your info to If you have to do a factory reset. password reset you don’t have to.Read more

had an old xp lap top that I had forgotten the log info and admin password had been set apparently. but followed instructions and wa-la! saw all user accounts and could update passwords to my hearts content. Turns out reseting passwords is cOmpletely painless (well if you ignore the hours I had spent on line doing all the other windows recommendations for password resetting THAT DIDNT WORK—- before I bought this beauty which worked like a charm in like 2 minutes I was done and able to resume work). Wish I had bought this first! I dont always leave reviews but when something IS THIS GOOD it deserves it.Read more

I was unable to get this to boot on a laptop I was trying to recover. I *was* able to access the boot and configuration menus on the device. This flash stick just never showed up as a boot device. Another flash device I had was recognized on the same computer. I am a retired SW engineer and pretty competent with this stuff. I eventually was able to boot from a CD of Trinity Rescue Kit, and recover the Windows 10 admin password using that. If you are looking at this product, I recommend you download that (free) instead. I really thought Trinity Rescue Kit was going to be too old to deal with Windows 10, but it worked fine. I sent a message to the tech support email provided. The response was generic “press F2/F12” boilerplate which indicated that they didn’t even read the message I sent them. I received a brief instruction sheet with this which notes that because of COVID-19, they aren’t shipping their usual labelled USB sticks. I suspect that their new USB sticks are unbootable for some reason. Not all USB sticks are bootable — the vendor needs to check this.Read more

After contacting Tech Support multiple times to ask and confirm that data and files would not be erased, I tried the tool and while it did clear the password, when the system powered up after this tool use the only directory was “desktop” and no files in the user area. I believe that when this tool is used, it does something and then Microsoft deletes/clears/disables/something and the files / directories are no longer available. Usage instruction were poor. Last the USB is labeled as “EALINK”, at start the directory is labeled as “PCUnlocker”. After a search, there is a “PCUnlocker” company that sells 3 different unlock versions. AMAZON, I think this tool just cost me my data.Read more

As with all computers, the menu selections on my PC from this tool did not match the written instructions and I had to navigate to what I “thought” to be correct. I feel the directions should be a little more detailed. I have an email into the address listed on the instructions to get some additional help. (email was sent on Nov 2, 2019 since there was no phone number) I will update my review after hearing from them. 11/3/2029 – Received email from tech support. I sent the the required information and am still waiting to hear back. I changed my 1 star to 2 stars because the were fairly quick to respond to my email for help. 11/6/19 – Changed back to 1 star since when they responded, they only sent me the almost same instructions as the printed version. On 11/4 I sent them a screenshot of my menu choices (since the didn’t match what they told me I would see). Haven’t heard back and can’t wait any longer. Had to take my desktop to computer shop.
