I needed a heavy-duty French Cleat to install the King headboard shown in the attached picture. I purchased and tried about every kind of cleat I could find at Retail (Lowe’s, Home-Depot and others). Unfortunately, I found they were far to cheap to use for this purpose even though they said they would support the weight on the package… I didn’t trust them. In most cases, the actual cleat part that connects upper and lower pieces of the cleat was just too thin and flimsy and had very little “bite overlap” making your measurements and installation ultra critical. I purchased two or three other brands of cleats from Amazon which were ALL better than those I found at retail, but they were still not as good as this one! This particular cleat from this company IS, by far, THE BEST of all those I tried. It is very rugged, it has the deepest cleat overlap for holding larger, heavier items tight against the wall and made for very easy hanging/mating of the headboard after the cleat install (it sucked the headboard right up to the wall). Don’t waste your time or money with any other cleat if you are looking for heavy-duty… this IS THE ONE and it was about the same price as the others too… so you can thank me later. It may be too-robust for very small items (same company makes smaller). Two 30-inchers attached to 4 studs worked great for my headboard. I’m going to buy another set just to have them around for the next item I want to hang a large mirror, picture or another headboard on a wall. Note; they all came with sheet-rock mounting screws/hardware, but when mounting something as large/heavy you should be using lag-bolts at the framing studs IMO… be sure and keep those measurements in mind and get one long enough to hit a few studs, you might have to drill the mounting holes slight larger to accept a lag bolt, but that was no big deal. I’m extremely happy how this project turned out as compared to all the frustration I experienced when I first started out trying inferior hardware! I don’t think you will be disappointed with these!!!Read more

These worked great to hang new mirrors in my bathrooms. If someone pulls on the mirror because they’ve mistaken the mirror for a medicine cabinet, the mirror will not fall off the wall and break. Humans are naturally curious, and this will save your guests from embarrassment. French cleats are the best way to hang large pictures and mirrors, and these ones are very nicely engineered to fit snugly and securely with no wiggle room or rattling. I would recommend buying metal, screw-in wall anchors to attach the cleats to drywall. The plastic wall anchors provided in the kit are the basic drill-and-hammer-in style that are typically provided with products of this nature. As a rule, I never use these. I have gotten in the habit of always keeping a pack of the metal anchors at hand to use instead. The cleats are about 1/4 inch thick, so I also recommend getting some felt, self-adhesive furniture pads or cabinet door bumpers to keep the bottom of the frame level to the top as it sits against the wall. Alternatively, you can fasten one of the cleats to the bottom-center of the frame to achieve this.Read more

They worked well for me because I didn’t want much space between my custom headboard and the wall. I screwed to the stud in the middle hole and used 2 wall anchors for the outer holes.(check with level after 1st middle screw in case you need to realign. Really didn’t need the 5 holes. To make things simple hold the two together. Take a piece of tape and label the top piece that goes to the furniture, picture or whatever and label the bottom piece that goes to the wall so you don’t have to think about it again. (they are identical but trust me). Make a level line with tape or pencil if it will be covered. Hold the two joined together up to the line and draw in the circles on the bottom piece. Screw into wall. Make same level line on object and draw circles and drill holes. There you go.Read more

Mounted two 20 lb. mirrors on a bathroom porcelain tile wall. The cleats are solid and machined nicely. The hardware that is included will not work with all types of installations. I used some of the screws but had to to buy some smaller screws to attach to the mirror frame and Hillman DuoPower anchors for the porcelain tile wall. The cleats are what you are paying for and they are better than anything i could find at my local Home Depot or Lowes. I spent mist of the time measuring accurately and drilling through the porcelain. Once the cleats were mounted the mirrors hung perfectly. I am very satisfied with the cleats and wiuld buy again.Read more

I have old salvaged windows I wanted to hang on the wall. As usual if I have a problem I go to Amazon first to solve it. When I saw the French cleats they looked easy to install. They were! They were easy and simple to install. My windows are happy to be on the wall and I feel safe because they are very sturdy and staying put.Read more

So I wanted to affix my new headboard to wall, like hotels do. The best way to do this is with these clips. The mount is super flush, I got the 4″ ones in order to install one in each corner of the kind headboard and it looks awesome! I’m so happy I got this. I will certainly be buying more for tlmy next projects. In case you need to hang a very heavy item like a floating vanity, heavy mirror or any other kind of heavy wall items, always go for these clips. They’re easy to install, use a stud finder to ensure proper fixation, they sit flush against the wall and they look so neat!Read more

A french cleat is an ingenious way of mounting something, and it’s not constrained by weight. It’s a very sturdy way to mount almost anything and be pretty unobtrusive about it. These are high quality machined aluminum and come with mounting screws + drywall anchors. I would love an option where I could use flat head screws and the holes were tapped for them but I’m more than happy with these. Very well made.Read more

Not flush at all. Huge gaps between artwork and wall. Direction for measuring and installing are unclear. Does not come with bit or recommended bit size. Screws do not toghten snugly into wall anchors. Had to drill new holes for screws without the anchors.Read more
