First off, I have ordered these PureSource filters on several occasions (2015-2016) and they are the original OEM filters made by Frigidaire. They come with a Frigidaire labeled box along with a performance data sheet on the filter. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE AND MOST OTHER GENERIC BRANDS: These OEM filters meet two water filtration certification standards, specifically ANSI/NSF 42 & 53. Most aftermarket/generic brands will only be certified for ANSI/NSF 42. WHY THIS MATTERS ANSI/NSF 42 Certification Standard – This basically means the water won’t taste bad. It will primarily reduce chlorine, taste, odor, and particulates. Most people will review a water filter by how it tastes, but this shouldn’t be the only consideration. ANSI/NSF 53 Certification Standard – This basically means the filter also removes some things that can actually make you sick, like cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOC), and methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE). Most households do not need to worry about lead or organic particles in their water, but as a parent this just gives me a little additional peace of mind. ADDITIONAL FYI Getting a certification standard for a filter is very expensive, and aftermarket/generic brands that are not certified may have just opted to not pay for the additional expense. If a generic filter doesn’t have a certification rating, it doesn’t mean it isn’t a good filter. They could be just as good, but you wouldn’t know that so it’s just a bigger risk on the quality of the filter. The ANSI/NSF numerical standard is further categorized by Classes (Class I being the best) so just because it meets an ANSI/NSF rating it could have a very low class rating and only filter out 25% of the chlorine etc.Read more

I never write reviews but I had to come back to right one for these filters! I have lived in my house for 7 years and never changed the filter on my refrigerator…gross I know! I honestly thought it was going to be more of a task that would involve going to an appliance store, figuring out which filter my refrigerator needed, on and on. So I just never did it. And my house is 15 years old so I don’t know if the filter had ever been changed before I’ve had it either. One night I decided to do some Amazon searching and happened to come across these filters. The reviews seemed promising, the price was right and so I decided to give it a try. HOLY COW!! This was the easiest installation with the fastest results I could have ever wished for! My water tastes so amazing now! The instructions were on the box and it went so smoothly. Now that I know the filter should actually be changed every six months, I won’t hesitate to follow the recommendation now that I know it is so easy to buy the filter and install it myself!Read more

I read the reviews before I ordered this filter for my fridge that I have had for several years. Usually I get mine at Lowe’s but this time one filter was $49 there. It came in a Frigidaire box and was plastic shrink wrapped. This was all white just like the one pictured…and It installed easily. I ran 2 pitchers of water and watered my potted plants with it…..there was no black or color to the water. It looked fine. I now consider it good to go. IF I run into any weird problems in the next couple of weeks I will come back and edit my review.Read more

After reading the concerns of off brand/fake filters being delivered, I followed the instructions of using sold by and shipped by Amazon. The box that contained the filter was clearly a Frigidaire retail box, and the filter was sealed and looked like the picture on the Frigidaire website.Read more

This filter is not a true frigidaire filter…water is pouring out of the filter… the inside of my refrigerator and floor is covered in water…when purchased from Lowes, I’ve never had this problem…I had to throw food away, that was soaked and water is filling up a pot that I had to put in the fridge, to catch the water that is constantly running out of the filter, housing unit…never will I purchase a filter from Amazon, againRead more

I have never been disappointed with these filters. We live in an area in which the water has a funny taste and smell. We only drank bottled water until we bought a refrigerator with water and ice dispenser in the freezer door. These filters take the funny taste and smell right out of the water. They last 2-4 times as long as the packaging suggests…we probably get at least a year out of a filter cartridge. You always know it’s time for a filter change when the water gets a hint of sweet taste in it?? Not sure what that is, but I instantly replace the cartridge…takes about 15 seconds, and we’re good for another year of clean-tasting water.Read more
