I don’t have much to compare this too because I’ve never taken this supplement prior to purchasing this product, but it was the best DHA/EPA supplement I could find on the market: high levels of DHA, EPA was a plus, rigorous quality testing, and sustainable. Plus I only have to take one pill. I wouldn’t say that this product has no fish aftertaste, because it does. It also has a fish smell. But it’s the taste and smell is not too bad considering this is fish oil! I have only gotten the fishy burp taste a couple of times and it’s not bad like some non-prenatal Omega 3s on the market. If you’re expecting zero fish taste/burps from a fish oil, then you probably need to reconsider fish oil altogether and look into buying Flaxseed oil. This Minami version of Garden of Life has a lemon flavor to it, which I think makes the fact that they smell like fish better b/c the two pair well. Garden of Life also makes a strawberry flavored DHA. I haven’t tried it, but I can’t stomach the idea of fish and strawberry together. Thanks, but no thanks. I’m sticking to this product.Read more

I have taken many different fish oil supplements and this is by far the best. Usually when you open up the bottles, you get that over-powering fish smell. I personally cannot stand the smell of fish and I don’t eat any seafood. I am not pregnant, but I am trying to conceive, so I wanted to add this into my routine in preparation. I noticed that it’s a smaller dose than other omega3/DHA supplements out there, but this bottle says you can take two caplets if you wish to increase the dosage. Right when you open the bottle it has a very mild sweet scent and the pills themselves are quite small, have a lightly sweet taste and go down very well. If taken with a meal, I don’t experience any fishy burps or aftertaste. Twice I took it about an hour after lunch and had a little indigestion and those fishy burps were bad, but not terrible. A positive outcome that I didn’t expect was that it’s helped my heart-rate. Before taking it, my resting HR was around 88bpm and my doctor was wanting to watch it a little closer. I am now halfway into my second bottle and ever since the day after I began taking it, I’ve been right around 74bpm on average. I have read that this is quite common as omega-3 fatty acids help lower blood pressure, resting heart rate, the risk of arrhythmia, sudden death and triglycerides. I have since purchased a few more bottles and will continue to take this brand as it really doesn’t have a bad smell or taste at all. I also love that it comes in a glass bottle. It was packed very well and of the three bottles I have ordered to date, I have not had any shipping issues or breakage.Read more

I purchased these based on the supplement facts. Two days after I received them, I realized the epa and dha amounts are not even close to what is pictured. I do not know where they got the picture from but it is false advertising. I will be contacting Amazon.Read more

Review for 2 different DHA/omega 3. I’ve been taking Ocean Mom for a while. I was happy to see the pills were still small and they had the strawberry flavor. Only downside is these caps seem very sticky even at room temperature and on occasion you get the fishy burp taste. All in all I do like these. The new omega 3 prenatal I just purchased and started taking. The pills are larger about the same size as a regular prenatal multivitamin. You do get more with these than with oceans mom percentage wise. I really wanted to try the algae omega 3 version however due to my allergy to oranges I cannot risk them. These however seem to be going good and I will continue to use and will provide an update when I’ve finished off the bottle. So far the caps do not stick and I have not had any fishy aftertaste nor burping. I have not had any nausea from either type.Read more

Did the “Styrofoam challenge” where I poured the contents of the capsule onto a bit of styrofoam and the oil ate through the styrofoam in a few minutes. This indicates the product is made with the synthetic form of fish oil ethyl esters which converts to ethanol (alcohol) through digestion. Not a good choice during pregnancy.Read more

Moms and moms to be everywhere: I know you’re eager to give baby the best nutrients possible. But when it comes down to it, go with a different product. Invest in a safe and trusted brand. Garden of life preaches about its rigorous testing and purification, but the one thing that caught my attention is that you cannot look up your batch (of which you’ve purchased) to check for heavy metal and PCB levels. Nordic naturals allows you to do this and view the results of your batch after purchase but before consuming. Also, garden of life uses mackerel as one of the fish in their ingredients, a common fish known for high mercury levels. Their responses/description of their product are personally not reassuring whatsoever: “Remarkably low levels of oxidation” and “Undetectable levels of PCB’s and heavy metals”. Not sure about you but I would like to have a lot more information than that other than “undetestable”. I’m a penny pincher and garden of life definitely caught my attention by their concentrated omega 3 levels and prices, but I refuse to consume this product in doing more research. By no means am I a medical professional or a pharmaceutical critic, but this product has lost my trust before even gaining it.Read more

I’m very happy with this supplement. I’m now on my third bottle. I started taking it as soon as I found out I’m pregnant and I actually look forward to taking it. I take 3 other supplement pills and I always save this one as a “best for last” type deal. The pill is small and goes down smoothly. I hardly get a taste of it but when I have tasted it I’d say its pleasant. The DHA has helped me tremendously. After my first bottle ran out I went a couple of days without it and discovered that this pill is the only reason I don’t have constant pregnancy headaches. I’ve gotten migraines when I don’t take it. The one thing I have to warn about is that these do melt. I left the bottle in my car once and the pills became pure liquid. So I make sure to keep it at home now.Read more
