The pot is more sturdy than I has expected. Made my first 12.5 gallon batch and used the pot for both the boil and the fermentation. I had to make a wood top to keep the flys out of the batch and the top fit tight enough that the gas bubbled out of the air lock rather than escaping around the plywood! Im soon to order the 20 gal pot for mashing! I didnt check the accuracy box because I never checked that. Also, when going from a 5-6 gal batch, a 12 gal batch is much heavier. My legs looked like lobster after moving the boil off the flame!!Read more

The pot is nice and sturdy, should do a great job for larger beer batches! Assembly of the valve was easy, no leaks, but I did have to use a ton of thread tape. There is a downside: Like many reviewers have mentioned, my pot came with a pretty big dent in the bottom corner. I took my chances and got a damaged one. Other than that, it was a good purchase. Update: The seller was more than accommodating when I let them know about the dent in my pot. They offered to send me a replacement, which I chose to accept. The return process was painless and my replacement kettle arrived quickly, in perfect condition! Thanks so much!Read more

The good: Fairly sturdy 8 gallon pot. Very solid / substantial handle welds. Thermometer checked against 2 digital thermometers and was accurate with a degree or two. Inexpensive, especially when on sale, when compared to some of the big name brew pots. The bad: Even though the box / packaging was in pristine undamaged condition, the pot I received had a ding / small dent near the very bottom. That means it was packaged with the dent. Either way, it was very minor and doesn’t affect use of the pot. The threading on the valve was bad and I could NOT attach it to the pot. I didn’t discover this until the first day I used it though (about a month after receiving) but fortunately I had another stainless valve of my own that I used instead. Lesson there is that if you order this item, fully assemble / check all the fitting right away instead of waiting. Overall decent value for what you get with the caveat I mentioned about the valve. I may actually buy another one in the future.Read more

We use this as a water dispenser on our counter and love it!! We replaced the industrial spigot that was included with a smaller regular stainless steel one which works great. I thought I would have preferred a 5 gal size which isn’t available but I’m actually quite pleased with it being 8 gallons. It doesn’t take up too much space. It’s a good quality product and works very well for our purposes as we are eliminating plastic from our lives so didn’t want to deal with the big blue plastic jugs.Read more

The stock pot seems strong and durable, and arrived with no blems or dings. So far after four batches of wort there’s no corrosion or problems, and the thermometer reads pretty close with boil at 214. There’s usually a bit of a bath-tub ring from hops resin, but it cleans up real pretty. I only used it on an electric range element so far, but it easily boils 3 gallons. I have a propane burner for whole batch boiling when needed. Only noticed slight caramelizing of the malt onto the pot bottom, but I need to stir more frequently. Which reminds me, a pair of high temp BBQ gloves are nice for reaching into the pot to stir when it’s making some steam. Unless you use a six foot spoon handle. Realize you have to kind of reach into the tall pot from time to time, so steam resistant gloves are called for. I tie my grain sock to a string to help steep it, and tie the string to a handle to keep it off the bottom when heating. The thermometer is only suitable for hot water uses, not hot oil.Read more

I ordered end of April, received early May. Had an unexpected series of problems so didn’t get to use the pot until last week. It’s a 10gal pot put 7.5gal into pot cranked up the heat. Just as it started to boil I’m standing in a puddle, thought I spilled. Mopped. Then more puddle. I checked, the thermometer seal and the valve seal leaking. I had to have a specific temperature set after boiling started. the action in the pot didn’t seem right for the temperature. Checked and it was off. Then when I went to open the valve to drain, I couldn’t, they put the valve in backwards. In the 3rd picture notice the text on the handle (I didn’t before I filled it) handle rotates CCW so the handle slaps into the pot and doesn’t open. Other pictures show the leaks. That caused a massive mess in draining 7.5gal. Debris and liquid all over the exterior. When able to clean, stains left. Took forever to deal with the leaks, mess, and cleaning.Read more

It’s awesome side and shape and material. Only issue is that the value it like 2 inches above the bottom and has an edge from inside. So to completely empty the last to inches off your fluid you have to flip over the whole thing upside downRead more

I’m very pleased with the quality of this pot. It took me a while to get around to setting it up and testing it but I couldn’t be happier with the results! Well made, no dents, dings or blemishes. The lid fits well and sits flat. Welded handles are tight and clean. The only real “trick” is getting the spout and thermometer to seal properly. The supplied o-rings and gaskets are of good quality and work well to seal the mating surfaces. The threads require a HEAVY application of teflon tape. It’s not a fault of the product. The threads are very course and its easy to underestimate how much tape is required to fill them. I especially appreciated the way the surfaces were formed flat where the o-rings seat. It avoids any bowing of the wall while snugging things up.Read more
