GearLight S2500 LED Flashlight – Extremely Bright, Powerful Tactical Flashlights with High Lumens for Camping, Emergency & Everyday Use

This is an incredible flashlight for the price. It is a grown up version of the usual S1000 and somehow even brighter. I originally got the smaller ones on a whim during some lightening deal sale. I figured they’d be good for camping and worst case enough for taking the dog to potty. They are the best flashlights I’ve owned, and I keep buying more to have in every vehicle, room, and pocket. The S2500 is what you always wished your maglight was (but never could achieve). This is a chonky flashlight that fits a solid grip in your hand (but isn’t too big for small hands). With 6 AA batteries it lights up a powerful stream of light. The focus is the twist style (I wish it was the forward/back some of the other ones have) and can easily light up large rooms of your house and so much more outside. First thing to say is that this torch is NOT LIGHTWEIGHT. In and of itself right out of the box, it is not too heavy, but once you add 6 AA batteries to it, it feels much heavier, which is fine if you do not plan to carry it with you for a long distance. I wanted it to use at the park at night. My dog and I walk a minimum of half a mile, sometimes further, and this is just too heavy to lug along. You could stash it in a jacket pocket during cold weather, but during hot weather, you would just have to carry it in your hand, and I feel it would be too heavy to carry for an hour or longer walk. It is certainly at least 75% lighter than my 4 cell Maglite, but I wanted it because my Maglite was much too heavy even to lug for a couple of blocks whilst also trying to control a 100+ lb young dog. The light it puts out is very good, though. I think it makes a good “around he house torch,” but since I already have a 4 cell Maglite for around the house, I see no reason to keep this torch since it is not good for long walks at the park. The other issue I noticed right out of the box is a broken o-ring as soon as I unscrewed the end to put in the batteries. The o-ring is not made of a very substantial rubber, and although the torch came with two spare o-rings, I should not have to use one of the spare o-rings right out of the box brand new. The first o-ring should be good for a least a few months if not longer. I love the fact that this torch has an attached lanyard, but the lanyard is not adjustable. You cannot tighten it around your wrist, so it will not help you to hang onto the torch should it start to slip from your hand for any reason. An adjustable lanyard would have been a true bonus. I do like that it can stand up on either end. That is certainly helpful. Overall this is a nice torch for the price point, and the warranty is certainly generous. It is a fairly powerful light, and given the size, it would store easily in a drawer in your house. My Maglite is so long that I have to put it beneath the kitchen counter. If I did not already have a good Maglite, I would very likely keep this torch for around the house or even to carry in my glove compartment. Having said all of this, I also ordered the two pack S1000 model. The S1000 takes 3 AAA batteries and is a bit shorter in the hand. Although the light it puts out is not as good as the S2500, the S1000 is far easier to carry in my hand on a long walk at night during the hot months, and during the cold months, it would fit quite comfortably in my jacket pocket or a fanny pack or even a shoulder bag, although I am not likely to carry a shoulder bag on walks at the park. The S1000 model also comes with its own neoprene carrying case that can slip through one’s belt or be tossed into a handbag safely. So, whilst the S2500 has the better light, the S1000 is more practical for my purposes. Also, given that the S1000 comes in a 2 pack, I can stash one of them near my bed or in the kitchen or anywhere that is handy should there be a power outage. The S2500 is a good torch for the price point, but consider where and how you will use it. If you want it just for at home use, it would be a great choice. If you want to carry it around for several blocks or more, it is not as good of a choice. Finally, I also bought the M3 model which also comes in a 2 pack. The M3 takes one AA battery and is very lightweight. It comes with a built in clip so that you could slip it onto your belt or trousers or a pocket or a handbag or book bag. It is very portable. The downside to the M3 of course is that it does not provide a lot of light. However, if you do not need it provide a lot of light but just to be handy to find your keys in the dark or to unlock your door in the dark, and that sort of thing, it is a handy little torch. Of course, I most mobiles now have a built-in torch that provides a nice bit of light for such things, but if you carry your mobile in your handbag, it is a pain to dig it out and get it out of its case to use the built-in torch. Since the M3 just clips onto belts, handbags, etc., it can be handier. Will I keep the M3 ? Hmmm, I am not sure. I will keep the S1000s, and I will send back the S2500 for the reasons enumerated, but I have not yet decided on the M3. My advice is to consider not only how many lumens you want in your torch, but also to think carefully about where and how you will use it because weight and length are very important as well. These are all nice torches, and maybe you can use all three for different times and purposes, but if you only want one torch, please do consider weight and length, too.Read more

Although the mode 1 is very bright, there’s a few other problems: 1. mode 2 of low beam is too bright to use indoor, which makes it Only be used Outdoor 🙁 2. mode 3 is totally useless, bad design, users have to cycle through all the modes. A total of 2 modes would be nice and simple. 3. size is too bulky, I understand it needs the 6 AA batteries. Manufactory should consider a smaller size with 6 AAA batteries.Read more
