Ok, I’mma be up front here, apologies to the manufacturer. There is no doubt that this product works. Just take a look at my picture. However, the “blade” edge on these is literally just drywall sanding screen material that you can buy in bulk at any big box hardware store. The finer “blades” are just sandpaper. I can think of a thousand ways to rig a device that works like this using far less plastic at a fraction of the price.Read more

Don’t use it on your fancy sweaters. This item pulls/drags the pill balls out, in the process also pulling/dragging the good/non-pilled areas. Yarns got damaged and the surface of my smooth sweaters started to look like towels.Read more

I have so many clothes that get pills, and fuzzballs – so I was stoked to find something to eliminate them. I thought maybe this had some blades or high quality… something. Nope. It’s just SANDPAPER housed in some gigantic, plastic contraption. I foolishly thought this would solve my fuzzie problems. After about 3 clothing items, the edges lost their tooth and became… useless. Only about 1MM of the edge is useful, and once it’s gone, it’s gone. Even if there are replacements, it’s more plastic than edge. And for the cost, I expected this to last at least 20 clothes to de-pill. The fuzzballs are difficult to remove from the edges, and it barely takes fuzzies off thick items. With the long edge, you can’t get into small areas – like around buttons. Instead, get yourself some 100 Sandpaper, rip it into 1 inch strips for your smaller pills. This gives you a better level of control, and you just tear off small strips when the sandpaper wears out (you just brush the little grains off). It’s even easier to get the fuzzies off the sandpaper. (I was able to de-pill an entire flannel shirt with this method) For your larger fuzzballs – get a real nice pair of fabric shears (keep them only for fabric – paper will dull it). Carefully cut at the edge of the fabric and ‘snip’ away the fuzzies. (I was able to de-pill an entire carpet coat with this method)Read more

This is the fabric pill and lint remover of choice for knitters, at least in my little corner of the world! After having it recommended to me by more than one person, I finally ordered one. I’ve only had it for a few days so I can’t opine on longevity yet, but I did try it on a half dozen tops and I’m pretty impressed with how it did. It was very effective in removing small, hard pills that formed on an old, thin, cotton blend tank top that has gone through one wash too many. It was very effective removing larger, soft pills that had formed on a fleece arcteryx jacket. It was moderately effective removing large pills of mystery fuzz bunnies that were heavily infused on an old pair of wool blend ski socks. It was least effective removing long white pieces of bichon fries hairs and pieces of down feathers and other unidentified lint that had “somehow” gotten pretty embedded in another arcteryx fleece – a black pullover. This fleece is relatively new and I don’t know how it got so lint-infused, but because it’s black and the fleece has a knitted texture, even a little bit of lint shows up on it like it’s under a black light. I was sad the Gleener didn’t work very well on this piece of clothing. I tried multiple blades as well as the lint remover and it was getting to the point that I could tell I was beginning to damage the fabric with all my scraping so I called it quits. It is what it is and I’m going to have to live with it. That said, it performed quite admirably on my other test pieces so four stars it is! One problem I had with using it is that the way my hand kept wanting to hold it, I kept popping the head off with a finger. That was annoying after about the twentieth time, but if I use it often enough I’ll be able to stop popping the head off mid stroke. It seems very well made and the packaging is great. I’m so glad it comes with its own storage bag. It’s light years ahead of a plain old lint brush, better than any of the electric shavers I’ve tried, and it’s far less wasteful than those sticky roller paper lint removers. Recommended.Read more

I heard of these on the Ask a Clean Person podcast by Jolie Kerr (hilarious, and her columns on various websites are so great). She wasn’t lying when she said these were life-changing. You need to use a little muscle to shave your clothing, but it’s incredible. I immediately used it on my fav yellow sweater, and you can see the difference between the left and right side in the photo. I love this thing and can’t stop raving about it. It’s worked better than the electric shavers that I’ve used and I freaking love it.Read more

It works very well on heavier fabrics, such as sofas and it saved a very expensive side sleeper pillow that I almost threw away after the fuzz balls started getting too noticeable. However, be VERY careful when de-fuzzing near the seams of cotton knit items. I ruined one of my favorite shirts with this tool. I was using the most delicate attachment, since that’s the one that should be used for summer knit items. As soon as I started running it over the seam on the side, it chewed a hole in the fabric after three passes.Read more

The “Gleener Ultimate Fuzz Remover Fabric Shaver and Lint Brush” works decently, however, the process takes a while (about 1 hour for a woman’s size small shirt). Additionally, the Gleener causes holes to form in the seams of shirts. I was disappointed to find out these flaws, as I had heard such great comments from other customers. Unlike the other reviewers though, I found the product and results to be mediocre.Read more

Why waste your time waiting for electric fuzz removers to recharge, mucking about with cords or changing dead batteries? Those were all issues I realized I’d have to deal with when I started researching for the best mechanical fuzz buster. Most who reviewed the top rated units on still had issues with clogging blades, fuzz collectors that had to be emptied often or ones that were difficult to reach and there were also a more than a few issues with a long recharge time and short usable time. It occurred to me, that eventually, no matter what I spent, the fuzz buster would eventually die. That’s what happens to most everything with moving parts. This is an excellent tool. I didn’t have to make more than a couple of passes on my shabby sofa to make it look great. When enough collected on the cutting edge, I just wiped it on to the floor for vacuuming, and continued on. It works over curves, and piping, and I think the long edge of the blades make it pretty impossible to cut a hole in the fabric. You would really have to ignoring what you’re doing to make that happen. I could never use my old battery fuzz buster without taking breaks to work out a hand cramp. My face razor is not as ergonomically sound as this thing is and it cost a hell of a lot more. I’m definitely buying another for a friend of mine with arthritis. This shaver deserves some noise. I’m ordering three more for stocking stuffers. It’s a no brainer. FYI: I have never been paid for giving a review nor have I ever received free product for a review. Sigh.Read more

Made my 5 and hlf year old sofa look new. Over the years under the seat cushion on my fabric sofa made these huge fabric bubbles and underneath the seat cushion too! Now its completely gone! Abit of a bother when you hve to go over the same area a handful of times for it to completely go however it gets the job done. Reason for the 4 stars is the attachments are rather poor (for the sofa fabric removal – might work well with clothes) the white attachment and the black one that was rubbish for my intended use however the attachment with the lines/squares worked but wore down after use which was annoying.Read more

I love this. I really wasn’t sure how well it would work but though I would give it a go. I bought one for husbands hoodie which he was going to pit in the bin, but this has given it a new lease of life. After de-bobbling it, it looks like the colour has come back brighter and newer. I would recommend this to anyone!Read more

I have a fleece jacket that is an absolute magnet for pet hair and the sticky rollers just don’t work well enough, so I thought I would give this a try based on all the favourable reviews. And I’m so glad I did, as it works a treat, is easy to use and doesn’t require batteries. I start with the medium blade which removes nearly all of the cat hair, then finish off with the brush on the other end – it takes about ten minutes to clean the whole jacket.Read more
