In addition to being diagnosed with arthritic hips, my 9-year old terrier has been recovering from an ACL injury that she suffered about a year ago. After researching various supplements that are designed for canine joint support, I purchased the GlycoFlex chews (as one component of a supplement regimen that I started my dog on) based on positive reviews from various sources on the internet. THE GOOD: After receiving my first order, I administered these chews based on the “initial” dosing instructions on the back of the bag which was two chews per day based on my dog’s weight. It wasn’t long before I observed a definite improvement in my dog’s gait and noticed that her limp had become noticeably less severe… some days her limp was even nonexistent! THE BAD: I could tell that my dog was not very fond of the taste/texture of these treats and was not thrilled when it came time to take her daily dose, however she was able to choke down these treats at my “command”. Since there was a noticeable improvement in my dog’s hind legs after several weeks of being on the supplement regimen that I had created for her, I didn’t think twice about ordering the GlycoFlex chews for a second time once the first bag had been consumed. As mentioned earlier in this review, my dog didn’t care for that first bag of chews, but I was able to get her to consume them with a little “encouragement”. However, when I received and opened the second bag of chews purchased off Amazon, I immediately noticed a rancid smell coming from the bag that I don’t remember experiencing when I opened that first bag of chews. I went ahead and attempted to give my dog her first dose out of the second bag and she absolutely REFUSED to eat the chew. Over the next week or so, I tried everything imaginable to get her to consume her daily dose of GlycoFlex, but nothing worked – not even hiding it in a bowl of chopped rotisserie chicken and gravy (which is my dog’s favorite)! I mean, my dog would rather go without a special snack or even her dinner than eat one of these super nasty, rancid, rotten chews. And to be honest, I can’t blame her – I mean the smell is so bad, I can’t help but think that we got a bad batch. Unfortunately, I was not able to return or replace this item for a potentially fresher bag, and at about $40.00 a pop, I cannot afford to take a chance on this product again in the hopes that we will get a “good batch”. Besides, I think my dog was so disgusted by that second bag of GlycoFlex chews that I attempted to feed to her that I’m not sure I would ever be able to convince her to eat one again, even if it wasn’t rancid. My suggestion to other Amazon customers who decide to purchase these GlycoFlex chews is that you might want to purchase them outside of Amazon (and this is coming from an AVID Amazon shopper). After looking at other one and two-star reviews of this product, it appears that I am not the only one who received a rancid “bad” batch, and once you’ve made your purchase, you’re stuck with it! For me, it was $40.00 down the drain which makes me very sad!Read more

12 year old 65lb mixed dog (german shep, terrier ish) w/ prior knee surgery & arthritis. This is a great product & really makes a noticeable difference in her ability to move around (no more groans), run & play & go on walks again. Began working quickly, about a week of use & saw noticeable differences w/ full improvement after a few weeks. Followed dosing guide on back of package & she had no digestive issues (she has a history of a sensitive tummy w/ grains especially, so I really limit her treats to single ingredient items that I know are safe, but this item, even w/ multi ingredient, has been safe for her. No diarhea, gas, etc.) She did, after a couple years, get to the point where she also needs Carprofen from the vet (Rx) now (1 pill split in 1/2 given in morning & dinner. But she’s so happy & doing so well. It’s AMAZING when you see your furry sweetie pie go from seeming like she’s getting old/slowing down, groaning, not climbing up on the bed anymore to the complete opposite—happy, running, no groans, big tongue out smiles, jumping up to me like a kangaroo! Really do recommend. The only other product we also use is Salmon oil (omega oils).Read more

I really wanted to like this. I compared it with a lot of other products before I bought it, and I thought it would be the best option for my dogs. The first time I gave it to my dogs, it caused vomiting and diarrhea. I thought maybe they just needed time to adjust, so the next day, I cut the dose in half and gave it to them again. The same thing happened, but worse this time. I was worried that I might have to bring my dogs to the vet, but thankfully I did not have to. This is the first time that a supplement has caused any problems of this severity for my dogs.Read more

I have two english bulldogs. Both bulldogs unfortunately have hip dysplasia and torn ligaments in their legs. The vet of course said we can do surgery, but eventually it would come back (the torn ligaments) so we decided against it. One bulldog has been great and currently going on 2 years of no medication, while the younger one (since shes fatter) has lots of issues. You can tell she’s in pain with her legs. Due to this, I decided to search for something like this product to help with her legs and also my other dog since she is getting older and I want to prevent arthritis as long as I can. They’re doing great. Tali (the younger, bigger one) still limps a little, but seems to not be in pain much as she was before I gave her this. Jovi, shes still doing great. So overall I like the product and will continue to give them this. HOWEVER, the main reason for my higher rating was that ironically this is curing Tali’s alopecia! It’s not mentioned on here that it helps promote hair growth, but Tali is 3 and has been bald for 2 years out of that. Since she’s been taking this for two months that hair has almost grown fully back. IT’S A MIRACLE. The vet always told me to just get used to it because it’s just part of her (since allergens were ruled out)… I can’t believe it. So even if this hasn’t cured her little legs- it’s amazing to see her hair back!! I added before and after pics of her hair.Read more

My 12 year old Weimaraner has been on these for 3 months now. They have def made a difference. His back end would often drop down randomly so he had hydrotherapy & I put him on these. He gobbles them down & they don’t upset his tummy, so win win really. He is arthritic, & they’re not a cure, but I’ve seen a difference in his mobility & he still loves an hours walk in the morning & again in the evening ❤️Read more

I don’t know if these have helped. I got them for a young rescue gsd who hadn’t gas the best start in life and came to us very underweight. It has given me piece of mind that it’s helping her joints as she grows a bit more and puts the weight on. Update: after a pack, the dog was much less stiff. I didn’t get another and about a year later she started showing signs of stiffness, a bit of a limp after a long sleep etc so got another. Sorted, all limber again so I’m convinced. Changed from 4 to 5 star (just wish they were cheaper!)Read more

Reading the reviews I am sure this product is probably ok but I have a major problem getting my dog to take it. I have even disguised it in his food but he spits it out, when I grated them (which wasn’t easy) into his food he wouldn’t eat his meal. I have no doubt that they do the job but in my case a waste of money.Read more

Excellent product, really helped my dog in the past. Unfortunately, had to return this item using Amazon returns (very convenient returns process) because my pup died very suddenly of cancer, and we no longer needed the product. Thanks for the great service Amazon, and for stocking such a fantastic quality product.Read more

This is fabulous. Both dogs getting old now and were on medication for arthritis. With Glycoflex, they don’t need the anti-inflammatory pills. The new “chews” are…amazingly…popular with two dogs who have never before accepted a flavoured chew.Read more
