Might have been the edibles, but I THINK this headlamp has different colors, depending on what kind of brownies were in the bag. My gf and I are Jeepers and go on lots of hikes and overnight campouts, because she’s freakin’ HAWT. So when she shows up wearing a sporty headlight setup, I run my fingers through Amazon and ordered these. Next trip, my new insane bright headlight system is signaling Arcturian starships in orbit around Jupiter; people walking through the beam get free Lasik surgery; I’ve shot down bats with them: these things are *bright*. Because they are USB rechargeable, the fun never ends, unless you are in Texas, where there is no power.Read more

The media could not be loaded. This headlamp is a fantastic value. I have purchased handheld flashlights that have cost up to $200 from other brands such as Fenix, Streamlight, ThruNite, Klarus, Jetbeam, Convoy, etc. Over the years, it has been something if a hobby for me, and I have spent way too much on flashlights. That said, I had never purchased a headlamp. It just never seemed like the best bang for my buck, like I could get more performance for my dollar in a handheld flashlight of comparable price. However, as I am currently potty training a new puppy and find myself picking me up and chasing after him at all hours of the night, I thought it might be nice to try a hands-free option. Of course, my initial instinct was to do a ton of research, find out which one is the best, and get that one. I looked at the top brands, primarily Petzl and Black Diamond. I was looking at waterproofness, battery options (aaa and rechargeable), brightness, runtime, build quality, comfort, and features. I the end, I determined that the right headlamp for me would cost around $60 at a minimum. I had added two of these to my cart and was preparing to check out when I decided to search “rechargeable headlamp” just to see what budget options were available. What I found was that there were several options to buy a pair of rechargeable headlamps for $20 total, or $10 apiece. Not only that, but they had decent reviews. Rechargeable is a must in an everyday (non-emergency) flashlight. As most headlamps take aaa batteries, and I only use energizer ultimate lithium batteries in my flashlights, each recharge saves me about $4. If I end up recharging this headlamp twice a week for one year, it will have saved me $400 in batteries. If it lasts 2 years (which I absolutely believe it will), it will have saved me $800. (Alkaline batteries can explode in flashlights and ruin them. Last year, lost like $200 worth of flashlights when the Duracell batteries that I had always trusted exploded in them. Lithium batteries do not explode and have a shelf life of 20 years.) Long story short, I got the cheap one to use as a beater, just to walk the dog. However, it had ended up being my most-used flashlight in the house. I often find myself walking around with it on my head in the middle of the day because it is so useful. Headlamps are great. Because if the light being positioned so close to your eyes, shadows aren’t really an issue. This lamp has high/low spot, high/low flood, red flood, and red flash options. I find myself using high spot exclusively when outside for walking the dog, and high flood exclusively when inside for working in the garage/car/closet or any other place where lighting is anything less than optimal. The spot is bright enough to light up the entire side of my house from ~50 feet away, and the floor is perfect for making it look like the lights are on high in whatever corner of the house you are working in. The flood option is also great for reading! My wife has recently been using a clip-on book light when reading inside even during the day due to eye fatigue. (We are not old people. She is 25 and I am 29.) But the flood that comes off of this flashlight is so much brighter and more natural that I think it is going to replace the reading light altogether. The spot modes have a good mix of spot spill. The flood mode is soft around the edges and very natural looking with no artifacts. The red flood mode has a ton of artifacts and is very messy looking. If you plan to use the red flood for night vision, this may not be the headlamp for you. However, I do not plan to ever use that mode, so I will not hold it against the headlamp. Finally, the flashing red mode is also pretty useless for my purposes, but would be fantastic if you were riding a bike or walking down a street at night. The strap is very comfortable and had not caused any headaches. The part of the lamp that touches your forehead has a piece of very soft foam that makes it easy to wear the lamp for long periods of time without any pain. I do not use the proximity sensor / hands-free mode because when I wave my hand in front of the light to turn it on, the light hits my hand right in front of my eyes for a moment and it is extremely bright and uncomfortable. Hoerver, for anyone considering purchasing this headlamp, I will briefly run through the operation. The light has two buttons on top. The button in the right cycles through spot high, spot low, flood high, flood lie, red flood, red flash, off. The left button (with the picture of a hand) cycles through spot high, flood high, off. However, when in either of those two modes that are activated by pressing the button with the picture of a hand, the light can be turned on and off by waving your hand in front of the headlamp. I think this is so that if you were wearing gloves or something that caused you to be unable to push the buttons, you could still toggle the light on and off. Overall a great headlamp for my purposes and an amazing deal for the price. Unless you are an absolute flashlight snob or have very particular and specialized needs, this headlamp should work for pretty much anybody who needs a hands-free light. (And if you have not tried a headlamp, I highly recommend that you do. Having both hands free to work and having perfect illumination on whatever you are working on has been revolutionary for me. I should have gotten one years ago.)Read more

Update a week later! Changed from a 4-5 star! Once I really learned “all” the features, I wanted to give it 6 stars. The motion is fabulous in many situations where there is uneven lighting and you hate wasting power when moving back and forth a lot. This headlamp goes into standby mode with just a swipe of your hand, and another swipe, wow. Never had a light with so many features, including what appears to be a very reasonable battery life so far given the age. Original Post: I like the recharging capability as it seems I go through lots of batteries. I like the various light options for brightness levels and love the “off” by just holding button 3 seconds. Band is easily adjustable and comfortable. Overall, great headlamps and does what I need it to. Will update more when I get a better feelings about battery life, so far lasted many hours on a single charge.Read more

I didn’t expect much for 20 bucks for two headlamps, but you get more than what you pay for with these. The brightest setting is perfect for keeping an eye out on my dogs in the backyard. It’s super dark out back and even though we have a bright security light, there are dead zones and I’ve had to use a flashlight to keep an eye on them when they’re out there. I was going through too many batteries and decided to buy a headlamp (much to my wife’s amusement). These are perfect. I don’t know how waterproof they are, but as long as they work when it’s raining or snowing I’ll be happy. The multiple settings are perfect for my needs. I don’t really need the motion activation so I can’t speak to that feature. The red lights are a nice touch but I haven’t had a need for them yet, but it’s good to know I have it. The fact that these are rechargeable are the main reason I got them though. Headband is fine, my only gripe would be that the angle that the lights click into aren’t the best. I know you can’t make it perfect for everyone but I think it would have been more useful if they swiveled freely instead of set positions. Not a deal breaker, just a thought. The power indicator is a nice touch too. This light checked all the boxes for me and at a good price. Hopefully they hold up.Read more

Bought this two-pack and thought the motion detection on/off feature was brilliant (still do). It was nice to shut it off with a quick gesture when looking at someone while talking, so you don’t blind them. I work outdoors at night a lot and my rechargeable AA battery headlamp that I’ve had for a couple years finally died after much (ab)use. The headlamps started out decent but within two weeks or so of nightly use, for 4-6 hours at a time (then swapping out for the other one), the charging times seemed to get longer and longer until neither one would hold a charge. Still giving it 4 stars because they did work great, features were cool, and I believe that my frequent long-duration usage of the lamps isn’t normally what people would do with these. For my needs, had to get another AA rechargeable high-lumen headlamp for the same price (only one lamp though), and that suits my use better.Read more

These Headlamps are working great for me. Th battery life is longer than I expected and the I’m using some of the extra functions more than I thought I would. Very bright, but hard to say if they’re 1100 lumens as claimed. Good value and look to last a long time.Read more
