DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT !!!!!!!!! I purchased this vacuum about 5 years ago and liked it so much I ordered another recently. Hoover must have changed the design on the lever that holds the main vacuum hose to the unit and the same lever is supposed to keep the bag door from opening. The new vacuum that I just received has a lever that does not perform the two functions. it either keeps the hose in place or it keeps the bag door closed. The failure of this lever to perform both functions means you need to keep a third hand available (if you have a third hand) in order to keep the vacuum together while you’re vacuuming. Really bad design change. Never had this problem with the same vacuum purchased 5 years ago. Thinking this was an anomaly, I contacted Amazon and they graciously send me a replacement vacuum. I received it today and it has the same problem. The issue is not an anomaly. It seems to have been a very bad design change by Hoover. I contacted Hoover customer service and have yet to hear from them on how they plan to address this issue, or if I need to purchase another supplier’s vacuum. I’ll update this review once I hear from Hoover. In the meantime, stay away from this vacuum cleaner. UPDATE – Hoover did not respond to my email, so I called them and spoke to someone who simply gave me a contact for a local Hoover Warranty claims repair location. Before lugging the brand new vacuum to the repair center, I called them to describe my problem (with two brand new vacuum cleaners). I’m glad I called. The repair center stated that if I brought the new portapower vacuum to them, there is NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM if that is the way the product is manufactured now by Hoover. Wow, who would have expected Hoover to assume their customers would tolerate such an inferior product.Read more

I will start out by saying, I use to work for a cleaning company that used these vacuums in every home. We would clean 5 houses a day, some with animals and some without. I absolutely loved this vacuum then. It made my daily work life so much easier and faster. It’s been a few years since then and I decided to buy this vacuum for my home (purchased March 28th, 2019). With all that being said, I will write my review. We recently bought a house with all wood floors. Soon after, we got two dogs. One is short haired, and the other is an extremely floofy 80 pound dog. With winter coming to an end and an installation of a doggy door… our floors have been covered with clouds of dog shed and dirt. I absolutely haaate the feeling of dirt on my feet, it’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I had to sweep every single day and even than, dirt and hair would build up in hard to reach areas. Standing there, debating on shaving my dog bald, I remembered this vacuum that I use to love! So I ordered it. The package arrived on time while I was at work and I was so excited to open it up that I rushed home on my lunch break. I’m not sure if it’s written somewhere, and to be honest I didn’t look.. but I was fully expecting to receive a black vacuum with black attachments(which is what I thought was pictured). This vacuum is grey with white attachments. The floor attachment is much smaller than I remembered, so it doesn’t cover as much floor as it use to and the bristles use to cover the entire edge so that your floors wouldn’t be scratched and suction would stay strong throughout the attachment (they switched it up for some reason). The larger attachment (which I assume is for carpet) is useless if you have shedding animals. The smaller attachment (which I assume is for stairs) has rubber bristles(may work ok with dog hair but I don’t have stairs so idk). The corner attachment is much shorter than the previous version and the furniture attachment is what you would expect. The cord is very long compared to my regular vacuums. And everything did arrive in perfect shape. I bought this vacuum for my hardwood floors so it was important to me that that specific attachment work. I waited two days before vacuuming so that dirt and hair would build up enough so I could see how this vacuum really works. Having a shorter attachment makes the job take a little bit longer but as long as your vacuuming correctly, this vacuum works really well! The suction is great! No scratches so far and I can get under, behind, in between and more with this vacuum!! It sucks up hair really well and after vacuuming my entire 3 bedroom house, my feet feel clean walking around barefoot!! I used this vacuum with the cloth bag it came with because the paper bag adapter is taking longer to get here, but I do suggest getting the paper bags(bags and adapter sold separately). The cloth ones collect everything fine but hair and dirt gets stuck in it and dirt flies everywhere when dumping it. Wearing the vacuum can be a little bit uncomfortable. Walking around with it isn’t so bad, but bending over is where it gets the most uncomfortable. I made the strap as long as it could get and it’s much more comfortable that way. They do sell a bag that goest with this vacuum and it makes it all much more comfortable if you wanna spend the money. Over all, I really like this vacuum and I think it works great! I wouldve given a 5 if I had received what I was expecting and if the attachments were what I use to use. I’m not really sure why some of the reviews were so bad. It might be that this vacuum works great at first and slowly declines. But for 100 dollars.. this is a great deal. If I do have any issues I will update my review. Otherwise.. enjoy your clean floors!! :DRead more

You will desperately fall in love with the convenience and compact design of this vacuum. And if you have actual commercial needs and expecting commercial grade suction you will be swiftly disappointed. I am a professional office cleaner in New England. I was thrilled with how easy it was to move this vacuum around but it won’t vacuum any of the rock salt, no hair, misses most dirt. It’s a glorified duster at best. Missed cob webs on walls too though. The cord clip kept falling off too. (I only used the bRand New machine for one cleaning day: 8hours). Not sure why it’s an amazon pick.Read more

I have used these vacuums for over 10 years. The new gray ones that they are shipping are WORTHLESS…….. The hoses won’t stay in them, they are lasting about a month and I am having to take them in for repairs. The new CH30000 vacuums are AWFUL!!Read more

This vacuum cleaner rivals the much regretted Hoover Constellation. It has incredible suction, which is probably due to the lack of HEPA filter; HEPA filters are only useful in laboratories and hospital settings, in a normal setting after 5 minutes suction is greatly diminished – the brush attachment will hold to my clothes by suction alone. The dust bag is washable. I turn mine completely inside out because the gasket holding the bag is actually rubber, not silicone, which means there is little chance of it breaking under normal use. I squeeze the bag in a clean rag to remove excess moisture and reinsert in my vacuum cleaner 2 seconds later with the airflow it is completely dry. It is easy to add and remove attachments using one hand. People have mentioned that it is difficult to remove attachments, it is quite likely because they are trying to pry the coupling up rather than pushing down on the ridges in order to lift it. On the downside Hoover has a coupling for hoses and attachments which makes it very difficult if not impossible to use attachments and hoses which were made for other machines. For the attachments I use a attachment adapter which will reduce other attachments to the correct size, it doesn’t matter that they do not click into the coupling because they hold to the vacuum by suction alone. I am still looking for a compatible hose of the proper diameter which would be quite a bit longer, I find that working in tight spaces using the attachment extension wands is not practical. This machine is incredibly sturdy – it was designed for commercial use – it shows. The housing is made of polycarbonate resin – think mid-century Bell telephone – I have dropped mine a couple of times, from heights. Short hose. No cracks. No breakage. I am dealing with a major caterpillar infestation and I have used this machine Non-Stop without turning it off for close to 4 hours, the motor was still barely warm. This vacuum has a thirty-four (34) foot power cord which is an incredible bonus if like me, you happen to live in a dwelling which doesn’t have very many electrical outlets. I highly recommend this machine even though I have found the people at Hoover to be less than polite. The reason that I removed one star is only because of the very short suction hose.Read more

Bought for stairway of a small six unit apartment building with very low pile carpet. Did not do too good a job of pick up/left bits which i thought it would have picked up. Attachments are very hard to pull off . Clip is very tight and hurts fingers to pull off. Came with fabric bag easy to empty but have to put hands inside to pull hairs out. Cable a bit short for a commercial vacuum so have to use an extension cable. Ended up ordering another different vacuum as this one does not work for what i need. That being said tried at home and works pretty good on hardwood floors or perhaps a car vacuum for light cleaning jobs.Read more

I didn’t find it all that comfortable to use. The suction only works if the bag is emptied frequently. I found the cord useful as you can plug it on side of apartment and vacuum the whole place without unplugging it. But I also found the plug a nuisance as it tangles very easily and no matter how hard you try to unravel it the cord still curls up. The attachments are cheap (the floor and rug one to be exact) the other ones are pretty sturdy. Not bad for the price and easy to store but not something I would buy again in the future.Read more

It was exactly what I was as looking for, a lightweight carry along to clean hardwood floors and the entrance carpets. I empty it after every 20 minutes of vacuuming and the suction stays. I’m certain some of the parts will break without due care. Just because it says commercial doesn’t mean it’s more heavily built, just simply built.Read more

Don’t buy. Strap broke in less than 2 hrs, carpet part doesn’t work at all nor does the switch in it do anything but move righ/left. I was so excited to get this vacuum that I went an extra 40 min home between jobs to get it and it was broken before the end of the first one. So disappointing. It has been still less than 2 hrs and I already want to return this.Read more
