I tried to use this thermostat on my hedgehog cage for 1 month powering 2 150che with 2 10 inch domes, attempting to keep the temps between 24 and 26c.. while it did keep the temp with in range, it often over heated the cage, and did not come up to full temps. It rarely reached the lower end of the range either… As I understand thermostats ( I have many other inkbird models 308,310,206 ) the domes should be powered at 24c and shut off at 26c … temps often reached 27.8 and rarely went below 25c… I did calibrate on arrival to other thermostats that had been recently recalibrated and proven reliability. I was using this with the inkbird pro app, I also noticed that the graphing function when reduced to see a whole day on one screen is not always accurate.. I have since put my old thermostat back in charge of powering the chedomes and only use this for monitoring temps. I hope that inkbird creates another version of this that is a bit more reliable … because at its heart this is great idea. I know many folks that use large cages for their pets with multiple che’s.Read more

What can I say about this thermostat? It technically does what it’s supposed to do. You can connect a heat mat and adjust the temperature from your phone or other device, but actually getting it set up was (at least for me) much more confusing than it needed to be. Actually getting the device to show up on the Bluetooth connection list took like five tries, and then getting it to pair took another few. Once I got the thermostat set up I encountered another problem. The app is not very user friendly. For some reason it keeps refreshing the information I’ve entered. For example I have the high temperature alarm set the be at 95F, but it keeps restarting and setting itself at the highest possible value (122F I believe). This is, needless to say, dangerous. I would prefer to be be notified if my snake was cooking alive. Apologies if I seem upset, it’s because I am. I don’t want to bother returning it because honestly that’s more trouble than it’s worth. I would just keep in mind that the app specifically is not user friendly. If you plan on using this without Bluetooth I would say go for it. But if (like me) you purchase this thermostat specifically because of Bluetooth connection it’s disappointing and nerve wracking to worry about your alarms and even temperature being reset randomly. The one pro I can truly give this is that the connection has a very far reach. So far I’ve been up to an hour away (at least 60 miles) and it still showed the temperature. But that is the whole point of the product, so it shouldn’t be shocking that it works. This is the only thermostat I’ve ever used for a reptile enclosure, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. As far as my opinion on it I’d say I feel pretty neutral about it. If you check the app regularly you should be fine. Just be ready to adjust the temperature if you need to.Read more

First setup went well. Then I could not connect after numerous tries. I found that the term “online” means with the cloud server, not the unit itself. After I finally got it connected, it has stayed connected and I can access it from both 2.4GHZ and 5.0GHZ WIFI sources. When first connecting you have to use 2.4GHZ using the same router or AP. When you have to reset, it may help to unplug the unit for awhile, and then use the up arrow to toggle reset between WIFI (fast blink) and AP (slow blink) which is chosen from the upper right corner of the the connect screen. If the WIFI icon is showing but your unit icon is grayed out, it is the cloud server that is not connecting. Closing the app and opening again may help. If the icon is still grayed out, check your router, reboot it, and turn off your VPN if you are using one. After you reconnect, you can turn the VPN back on. I am using this to monitor the battery temperature in my Generac Powercell. Works great. It turns on two plant seed heater with strong disk magnets holding it to the Powercell steel housing cover. I did not get a manual with my box. Maybe this was a return? Box a bit crunched. Found the manual online at more than one place. Note: Cloud server is in China. Not fond of that.Read more

The heat mats I use for plant starting seemed to be getting too warm last year and it led to a number of germination failures. I purchased this controller to get the temperatures under control. When I first plugged the mats in, one was 94 degrees and the other was 88 degrees. Within an hour, the controller had both mats operating between 70-73 degrees, just as I set it to do. The controller has done a good job of keeping the temperatures right where I set them over the past two days, so I ordered a second one for my other two mats. The positives: The controller is easy to set up. I read the instructions, but it was pretty self explanatory. The controller is also accurate. I measured the readings against those taken with my two Thermoworks thermometers and it was within 1 degree. Being able to control two mats with one controller is another plus, and the display is clear and easy to read. The only negative I’ve found so far is the app. I don’t use the app, because it seems unnecessary to need my email address and access to my location data just to monitor the temps of my chile peppers. It’s easy enough to set the temperature using the buttons on the controller, so I’ll use it that way. It’s a good controller and worth the money even without the app.Read more
