I had a repair job in my RV that had PEX tubing for the water supply. I’m pretty handy, but never worked with PEX. I first tried using Sharkbite connectors, but they leaked as the tubing was not clean enough. (Sharkbite are push on connectors that don’t require crimping). Then an estimate from a plumber was $250. Far too much for a twenty minute job. But crimping tools at Home Depot were pretty expensive; like almost $100. Amazon to the rescue. Not only was this tool very reasonable, it had good reviews, and came with a supply of rings. Two days later, the tool arrived. Twenty minutes after that my plumbing was back together, with no leaks. Saved a bunch of money doing it myself. And now I have a useful tool for future projects. This tool is surprisingly easy to use. It provides the leverage needed to crimp rings properly, with handles that are long enough, but not too long as to get in the way in tight spaces. No more sweating copper pipes and risking burning down my house crawling under my kitchen sink. If you do any of your own plumbing repairs, you’ll want this tool in your toolbox.Read more

This tool works as advertised and all the crimp rings I put on with it had no leaks. My only complaint is that it takes a LOT of force to crimp the rings. I had several 1″ rings to install; I had to order these separately, they didn’t come with the kit. After installing a few of these 1″ rings my wrist hurt for several days. Yes, I’m 64 years old and not as strong as I used to be. But, if the tool had a few more inches in length for better leverage it would have helped a lot.Read more

I completed a partial re-pipe with this tool. I used it on 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch PEX with Sharkbite and Apollo fittings. Only issue I had was with the 3/8 clamps. I purchased the Sharkbite clamps from Home Depot and Sharkbite 3/8 tubing/pipe and Sharkbite fittings. For the two 3/8 crimps that I had to complete, I broke 5 clamps before completing the job. I don’t know the cause of the issue (clamps, fitting or pipe). I was only able to get a good finished product when I stopped crimping at the last tool detent. I completed the job a week ago and have been inspecting the 3/8 crimps daily and there is no evidence of drips or leaks. I’ve written a email to sharkbite regarding the issue since I used Sharkbite crimps, tubing/pipe and fitting. Also, I took the IWISS guage to Home Depot and checked their US-made took and found no diffence in the final gap, therefore I don’t believe the tool is at fault. Hope this review helps. I had to reroute some PEX plumbing in my RV. I was replacing the kitchen faucet, and this particular RV had PEX right to the faucet connections and both the positions and fittings had to be changed for the new faucet. AND I couldn’t reach the plumbing well in this tiny RV cabinet shared with a water heater. Rather than remove the water heater, I cut out some of the original PEX plumbing, put the new plumbing where I could reach it, and installed hoses to feed the faucet, which will be much easier to change next time. This tool worked great, and seems to be the same as the $50 one in the home store. There was one connection with space too limited for this tool to work, and I used a shark-bite connector there. But shark-bites are expensive, and stainless rings are cheap and work well.Read more

Took me a few times to get the hang of how to use this more easily so here is what I do to make it easier: Open the tool all the way, place the clamp in the jaws and close them putting just a little pressure on the clamp to keep it in place. Slide the clamp over the pipe and close it the remainder of the way. The great thing about this tool is it won’t unlock until the clamp is closed completed around the tubing. This basically means you can’t mess it up! This is my first time using PEX but I won’t use anything else. It is so fast and easy to work with and this tool makes the cinches….well a cinch!Read more

Great product for installing pex on my water well filter system. I will say it is a bit challenging for 1″ clamps. Being an ex-mechanic, I was looking around for something to use as “cheater pipes” for leverage….DUH!!, I cut off about 7 inches of 1″ pex pipe and slid on end of tool tight. WOW!….great leverage and better grip. For 3/4″ and 1/2″ clamps no issues with modifying tool.Read more

This Pex tool is sweet. Way cheaper then any boxstore brands. I researched sharkbite and the others and ended up purchasing this one. Im very pleased with this tool. It ratchets down until it releases letting you know its pinched correctly. not once have i had a leaky joint yet. And the freebee clamps are nice too. Ace is the rippoff place wants 10$ for like a 5 pack of these clamps oh and just for a price check a tool of this caliber is 149.00$ at ace the rippoff place. I will be looking to amazon for those too.Read more

This is an easy to use tool for crimping PEX. We used stainless steel crimp rings and brass fittings and after probably 100 crimps – no leaks. The tool comes with a go – no-go gauge and I did check the tool periodically and never needed to adjust it. At the end of a 12 hour day with two guys using this tool, a small spring that resets the release mechanism came undone, but the tool still works perfectly. I don’t think this would be adequate for a tradesman, but for a DIYer it was perfect.Read more
