The 6-pack of Bayer K9 Advantix II flea and tick prevention for large dogs is a broad-spectrum, veterinarian-recommended dog flea and tick prevention that also kills and repels mosquitoes, a benefit not found in many other flea and tick products. Some products require a flea or tick to bite your dog in order to work, but K9 Advantix II flea and tick prevention for dogs is a topical formula that works through contact, so your dog doesn’t have to endure a painful bite for the flea, tick or mosquito to die. Just one application of Bayer K9 Advantix II flea and tick prevention for large dogs starts working to kill fleas within 12 hours, is waterproof after 24 hours, and continues to work to kill fleas, ticks and mosquitoes for up to 30 days, even after a bath or swimming. We recommend the use of a grooming shampoo designed specifically for pets. Do not use K9 Advantix II on cats. Use only on dogs.

Not sure what exactly is wrong, but I notified Bayer, the manufacturer about this adverse effect. Bought a 6 pack, and he did fine with first 5 months. Sixth dose (always on first of month) he got lethargic, irritable, and partially paralyzed. Washed him immediately, and will never use again. I bought peppermint oil, and spray him with this diluted in water now. Never again ADVANTIX IIRead more

It just simply doesn’t work. We have been using it for a few months religiously as detailed on the package and it’s useless. In the last week (9 days after application), we have found 2 fully engorged ticks on our dog and one that was just beginning to feed. We take him up to our cabin on the weekends and despite brushing him after going outside and avoiding problem areas, he consistently gets tickets. Its really expensive and just doesn’t do anything at all.Read more

A lot of folk don’t like topical pesticides on their dogs. I am a fan of AVANTI II ! It truly protects my dogs. We live in the woods. Ticks thrive here. Ticks may sometimes land on the dogs, but they don’t stay and they don’t embed. My vet also recommends the use of the new brand of collar. but I don’t like collars for running around in the woods. And I don’t like collars for sleeping in bed with us. The closest thing that we’ve had to an adverse reaction is that Holly will seem a bit more itchy for the first 24 or so hours after application. and while I don’t envy her that I scratch her a lot more and I’m thankful that we have such a good product to protect her. (Holly is currently a single dog but we have had 39 dogs over the course of Our Lives and have used Advantix 2 since it first came out)Read more

I used this brand for almost 2 years because frontline stopped working. It had been working amazing… until this year. My whole house is now infested and my dogs get no relief. I would vacuum and wash everything in the house constantly and nothing would help. I’m so disappointed because I had so much faith in this product but that’s gone now. I’ve recently switched to another brand and it helped for maybe a week and the fleas are back already. Fleas are relentless this year. But this product does nothing to fleas. It works great against ticks but that’s not what I need it for.Read more

Avantix II used to work great for my dogs. It’s the only brand I would use on them. But this year, it’s not doing much AT ALL for my 3 dogs. 2 to 3 weeks after applying it, I’ll use a flea comb on them and I’ve been getting a LOT of fleas off of them. The fleas range from very small/young to full-grown. When I swish the flea comb in water, most of them are not very active, meaning, I guess, that the poison is working to some degree. Nonetheless, 2 to 3 weeks after application, I get anywhere from 10 to 30 fleas off of EACH dog. They’re inside dogs. We do have a backyard from which they’re probably picking up new fleas, but as I said, the fleas range in sizes and ages, which tells me that they are surviving on my dogs. I’m switching to Frontline Plus. I hope that works for them. We live in Georgia, in case that’s helpful to know.Read more

Advantix 2 works great. It truly repels as advertised especially the mosquitos which is good since those are the thing to worry about heartworm. Frontline is getting tolerant, I always have far better results from Advantix 2. For anyone looking for full 4 weeks of perfect coverage, it just doesn’t exist. Any topical solution will weaken as you near the 4th week but I have found Advantix 2 to be GREAT. This is a great Seller and cannot beat the price. This is my second time purchasing from this seller on Amazon for price but also quality of product not sold nearing expiration. Expiration doesn’t MEAN BAD it means Weaker. OK… SO! What about Irritated Skin!? Don’t BUY IT if your worried about that! Some dogs are extra sensitive or ALLERGIC. DONT buy a topical solution if that is a huge concern. IT DOESN’T MAKE THIS A 1 STAR product because your dog is allergic or sensitive. For god sakes, you are putting poison on them and that includes in any brand unless your getting a prescription for a Pill. Then there are other possible side effects. Accept That. Anything you choose has Pro and Con’s. My dog has sensitive Skin. She will get a little pink when I use ANY topical solution. However Advantix 2 is well known for being kinda strong. So how do I manage it for my Furbaby??? Easy. Take the time to put the solution on in several places. NOT JUST ONE BLOB, because you’re too lazy. I skip the base of the tail. I never understood this. My dog can lick there all she wants. But I go from base of head at the back of the skull and ever couple inches I squirt a little down till I get between the shoulder blades and even so much as a little bit below that on her back. This helps spread it out and not irritate her and make her itchy. Then again, my pup has allergies and she’s on Zyrtec daily. But when I use to not spread it out she would seem uncomfortable, now she is fine with it. She is just sticky for a day. A Con is Advantix 2 is a little greasier and you get More of it. But frontline barely gives any and never seems to work past 2 weeks. So take your pick! After a day, I brush her out and there is no more sticky. I wait a week instead of 48 hours to bath her. I don’t notice any lack of flea control after a bathing. I really think this product works for anyone in areas where Frontline is losing its effectiveness. Also, heartworm is a billion dollar scare tactic. The idea of it is terrifying however, it is also expensive and for anyone struggling to spend that kind of money per month on their pup. Or those who are concerned with the drug’s effect on the body long term, or those that are allergic. Advantix 2 has that added benefit of the mosquito repellent if you’re religious in your re-applications. So… yeah. You’re going to see pictures of Poor Pink or Red skin. Statistically, there will ALWAYS be a % of animals that have an allergic reaction to inactive ingredients. However, as an owner of a dog with skin problems. Just be smart about spreading out the application and don’t go putting detergents on your dog “washing it clean” because their skin got a little pink or irritated. THAT is what worsens the situation. And I have gone through skin and fur issues with my pup to know this. My dog is allergic to the grass. I know skin irritation. Or should I say She Knows.Read more

My dog acted very sickly and had about a 2-3 second seizure after about an hour of apply this.. He is a 28 lb, 10 year old dog. He seems fine now 12 hours after, but it was concerning for the first few hours.Read more

Ok it’s really early to judge but I use this same brand on my cats because they have flea problems! However never did it on a dog. But for those who aren’t sure? The weight does matter, if it’s to high to can cause damage to the skin if it’s to low it won’t work. Also most outdoor type of dogs it may not work because of the dirt and stuff the dog goes through it defeats the purpose. Which sucks cause my dogs both indoor and out So I gave it my dog cause she has some kind of bug bitting her so far she not as itchy… still bits but not as much Only been an hour or so. But I’ll update if anything goes bad but I know takes about a day or so to actually workRead more
