This kenyon cooktop is an evil unit to put it lightly. After casual use for a couple of months, it began to have serious issues. After a careful inspection of the interior, it turned out that the unit is poorly constructed with all the electrical wires flying around and touching the metal parts that get very hot during its operation. Indeed, these wires were getting melted and worn out due to excessive heat. I had the electrical wires cured by an electrician a couple of times but, in the end, both burners died on me. What was surprising is that the unit was hooked to a regular 120-V outlet as per manufacturer’s instructions. Another unbelievable flaw that this unit comes with is the design of On/Off knobs (or switches/dials). The correct way to operate these knobs is to press them down before twisting them clockwise or counterclockwise to your desired setting. But, what the stupid manufacturer does not realize is that, in real world, this unit will be used by so many retards who will never figure out that the knobs have to be pressed down before twisting! So what does a retard do (and the majority of people in real world and those with access to my kitchen belong to that category)? They twist the knobs without pressing them down. The inevitable result: The knobs get damaged quickly and the unit is no longer operable. The knob design on this unit is the work of a wicked and foolhardy engineer. No, it does not serve any safety purpose! Given the above shortcomings, I set out on a mission to search for a perfect but cheap cooktop that is built bullet-proof and comes with a freely rotating knobs so that any retard can use them without damaging them. And I found this beauty (Cusimax 1800W Hotplate): The Cusimax unit is not only a lot cheaper than the Kenyon trash but it is also retard-proof. Wires no more getting burned out and the knobs work flawlessly even for people with no common sense (again majority of people fall into that category). The Cusimax cooktop is also energy-efficient. It can do the same cooking job at a fraction of amperage (my bills have nose-dived ever since I replaced the Kenyon crap with Cusimax unit). One can also have this unit installed through the countertop for a cleaner and blend-in feel (see the photos from my kitchen). You will need to make a cutout measuring approximately 12.25″ x 18.75″. Make sure that you also have a 120-V outlet installed under the countertop.Read more

Purchased this cook top along with an extended warranty from Amazon. One of the burners stopped working 2 1/2 years later. since it was still under manufacture warranty I contacted the company for a replacement, what a nightmare! Their rep was rude! She had me check my breaker box, take pictures and accused me of Not having the cook top wired proper ( it was wired by a licensed electrician) ! I assured her that it was wired proper however I couldn’t crawl into my wall to be positive but Im thinking that it has worked fine for 21/2 years with no problems, so it must not be a electrical install issue. She told me she will send out a replacement that day when it arrives I must send the non working one to her, but she has to have my credit card #, I asked why and she said to make sure that I send the non working one to them, and if I didn’t send the non working one back they would bill me for the new one they sent and they would only bill my credit card if I didn’t send the nonworking one back, standard practice she said. So I thought this was strange and was hesitant but needed to have my cook top so I gave her my credit card number with all intentions of sending them the non working one. Next she tells me she is emailing me a form to fill out for the warranty and that they need this form filled out before they send the replacement…. On the form it states that I WILL indeed be charged (my credit card) when they receive my nonworking cook top and find it malfunctioned due to my fault (faulty wiring), now here is the problem that I have with that… who in that company determines this? I dont know if they are even qualified to determine what went wrong with it and how do I know if they blame me for the nonworking cook top as something I did wrong just to keep from honoring the warranty and by the way they will charge my credit card $400.00 plus shpping! Amazon offers this item for $300.00 and they ship free. I told her that I was going to contact Amazon before I sign anything and see what they say and if the extended warranty that I purchased from Amazon would get me a new cook top replacement. So when I called Amazon and explained the whole mess , Amazon didn’t hesitate to honor the extended warranty that I purchased from them when I first bought the cook top and sent me out a replacement no charge immediately! Thank You Amazon your the best! In the future I will never buy from the company (Kenyon) that manufactures this product due to their shaddyness concerns and the anguish that I went through with them honoring the warranty of this product. I have also read other reviews since and found people have had this happen with this model of cook top with one of the burners going out . I would not recommend Kenyon.Read more
