Stop giving 1 and 2 star reviews because you didn’t get a product code yet for a keyblade skin that has nothing to do with the quality of the game. That is an Amazon issue, not a product issue. EIT: This game is dope.Read more

I’ll be honest, this game no matter how much I want to love it, is disappointing. I’ve waited 13 years (as have many of you) for this long delayed title. The game play isn’t bad, but it feels sparse in comparison to all the cut scenes filled with recent Disney hits. Honestly it feels like Square Enix sat around, wondering how they could make more money for the mouse, rather than creating a game that will live up to the Kingdom Hearts name. At times I felt more like I was watching a movie than actually playing a video game. The first and second Kingdom Hearts had their cut scenes, but they also had story. Story that didn’t involve peddling Disney merchandise left and right and that’s what this feels like. With worlds pulled from the greatest hits track like Frozen, Tangled, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, and Pirates of the Caribbean it’s lacking in any real story merit. Sure the visuals are nice, but where is the game play experience and storytelling of the previous games? The bottom line, if you didn’t pre-order it than don’t worry about getting it right now. Wait for the price to drop. It’ll be equally disappointing regardless of when you play it.Read more

I love Kingdom Hearts. I practically cried in rejoice for finally ending this saga after years of waiting. Yes, there were the other games released over time, but I was waiting for a chance to play as Sora (also Riku which didn’t really happen) again and go on another adventure. I was ready for this saga to end and see what they had in store for us, I was ready to dive into the new Disney worlds that pushed Sora to find himself, I was ready to play as Riku whom I believe has gone on one difficult adventure. I was ready for everything I thought Kingdom Hearts should be after loving 1 and 2 and even BBS. I was ready for these people to finally get their closure and I along with them. But no, that isn’t what I got. Sure, the saga has ended and apparently there is more in store, but this was a let down in a major way. Let’s begin, shall we? Pros: Gameplay: I think the gameplay can be fun (at times) and I love the keyblade transformations. I think the game does well with those more so than I thought they would. It’s a little more floaty than I would like because I am more familiar with the fluid gameplay of KH2, however, I don’t think it’s too bad when going against large groups of enemies. Graphics: While I think they are outdated for 2019 and the Ps4, I think they have come a long way since KH1 and 2 so it was definetly nice to see the gang a little more fleshed out. However, that is really all the Pros I have. Cons: Dialogue: The dialogue in this was such a headache. If I hear someone mention “hearts” one more time, I’m going to start bashing my head against a wall. We get it, your hearts, their hearts, the hearts, KINGDOM HEARTS! Ya know…hearts…lots of it. Not only did the dialogue felt stifled and out of sorts at times, I felt the emotion coming from the characters was lacking and/or misplaced. What happened to all the character development over the last few games? Story: The story has always been a mess, but I’ve accepted that mess and just loved getting together with the gang. This time, the story is literally thrown at you in the last 2-3 hours of the game. Characters were not given the redemption they should have gotten and some were used as a filler or even useless in the last battle. After all that teasing and making them “stronger” what a disservice to them as a whole. Reactions to them returning are not only lackluster, nobody is even really surprised when it happens. It’s more of a “here they are, this is what you wanted,” and it doesn’t give me closure nor did it seem to give the characters closure in a way it should have. They’re just thrown back in the game and we are supposed to accept that. What a lazy piece of writing if you ask me. All this build up for no reason. Gameplay: it. is. way. too. much. The combat system is horrid and there is way too much going on. Here’s a list: Keyblade Transformations Shotlock Links/Summons Airlock Flowmotion Wall Running Attraction Summons Team Combos (all the time) Combos and the list goes on. With the number of skills I got, I was way too powerful and I was confused considering Sora was supposed to have lost all of his powers and needed to gain regain them. Worlds: while large, they are pointless. Besides a scene or two, none of the worlds do anything to move the story along and it’s not as if Sora gained the power of waking through his visits to any of these new worlds. (No, apparently he had it all along) On top of that, the worlds were either too long and had loops of endless talk and/or were too short only making sense if you watched the original film. Cutscenes: I get that this was replaced with dialogue text that used to occur in the old games, but I felt as if I was just watching a movie and only ending the cutscene just to fight. What a pain the neck. Final Fantasy Characters: No Final Fantasy characters and let me explain why this bothered me; they may not have pertained to the story all that much, but they did help Sora on his first journey and that is how he grew as a person. They have been there since the beginning and knowing Sora is hardcore when caring about his friends, why would the Final Fantasy characters be removed? Last Thoughts: There is just so much meat missing to this game. There should have been more story progression during Sora’s visits to the worlds, they should have let us, as the gamers, have the ability to change between Sora and Riku at one point like they did with DD because I would have loved to see what was going on. They should have ditched some of these worlds because aparently they had no idea what they were doign with them. They should have brought back the original characters from the game that have been with Sora and the gang since the beginning. We as the fans deserve way more than what was delivered and I feel that it was a rushed, incomplete game that should have taken more than 30 hours to complete. There was way too much to wrap up only for it to be slapped together, horridly, within the last few hours of the game. There was no challenge to this game and there should have been, there was no real closure to this game and there should have been. There was no REAL character development for any of these people and there should have been; this is the last game in the saga. Also, STOP redeming bad guys. Let them be bad, they have a reason to be bad. Manipluating the player into feeling bad for the Organization members was not something I enjoyed nor did I enjoy random cutscenes between each battle. That was annoying. There’s probably a bit I am missing, however, this is where I end my journey with Kingdom Hearts. I love the game, love the characters, have loved the journey I took with them all, but I’m done waiting and I’m not dropping money unless I am certain I will like the game. I went in wanting closure, got it, but I feel empty and kind of heartbroken with what I got. It just wasn’t what it should and could have been. So, this is my review. If you want to buy the game because you love the series, I say go for it because this is a reflection of how I felt about the game. I don’t think it was worth the wait, I don’t think it was worth $60 or more and I don’t really care to see where they go with it anymore. I would have still bought the game because I wanted to see the ending, but I don’t think it was worth it at this point.Read more

This is an absolute disgrace. If you are a fan of Kingdom Hearts, grew up with it, and played every kh game there is to play you will absolutely hate this. The game fools you into thinking it is decent or has a chance to get better after the first lackluster world but then NOTHING happens. In both KH1 & KH2 events had impact, here you are looking through an entire 20 hours with nothing of any importance happening all only for everything to be rushed at the last 3 hours of the game. This story is terrible even going in having played all the handhelds and knowing what the story is SUPPOSED to be. But here the plot is so nonexistent you’ll wonder what was the point of it all? There are multiple worlds that are large and yet are somehow completely empty. Few moments of story to go along with these worlds and as you play it you will almost feel as though they barely spent 2 weeks on making them. Then the combat is terrible and repetitive. No special abilities because they are all locked behind situation commands. Drives are gone, limits are gone, stuff just happens and the RPG aspect of a supposed ARPG game is gone. You have no strategy nor depth to what you can do. This is not Kingdom Hearts….I don’t know what this is. But this is something that does not deserve to be praised. I am shocked that KH3 was this bad.Read more
