I was surprised when I discovered this product advertised as “pack of 3” for less than $12. I read over the ad to be sure that it was the correct price for 3 bottles since it seemed so cheap, and sure enough “pack of 3” is stated several times throughout the add as well as in the product’s title. I purchased it thinking it was such a great deal, given $12 is an average price for a single bottle of 120 pills. Bought 2 bottles from this vendor, got sent this lot both times, neither bottle works. Husband has been lactose intolerant for 20 years and lactaid has been doing wonders by him. 2 caplets work to curb pretty much any dairy reprisal (3 if he does a very dairy heavy night) but with this lot he took 6 for a normal amount of dairy and he may have taken sugar pills…to put this politely he was up all night admiring the bathroom. Not sure if these were left in heat too long (left in a hot warehouse or delivery truck for a couple days would make them worthless) but best to avoid this particular lot if you get it. The lovely people at Lactaid gave us a refund for our first bottle already, so we will still be giving them our business. The lot number is 0528LT.Read more

These are a bit deceptive. It says a 9000FCC dose but each tablet is actually 3000 and the dosage is 3 tablets. Therefore, this is really only 40 doses. You can get better value elsewhere.Read more

How could McNeil reformulate Lactaid to include mannitol? Many of us with lactose intolerance also have difficulty digesting sugar alcohols; see FODMAP. This was mainly purchased for my Mom who only will drink lactose-free milk and after doing some research and simply reading the entire lactose-free milk box, I found that the milk isn’t lactose-free. They just add the enzyme lactase! So I figured, we can save money by getting these pills. But it’s not clicking in her head that taking these before drinking regular milk is just as good as drinking lactose-free milk. Well, since I’m a quarter native and don’t enjoy the mutated gene that allows European descendants to enjoy milk beyond 5 years old whereas the rest of us need help since we weren’t consuming milk for generations upon generations. (It’s pretty neat if you look into it, why some people can handle milk and others don’t. It’s because those who can are Mutants!!!!!!! Hahaha.. Heck of a super power) Anyway, works great for me. I have always had a problem eating ice cream with getting severe stomach aches. For 5 years I used Lactaid supplements which enabled me to enjoy ice cream again. Then I ordered Lactaid again in 2020 and all of a sudden it not only didn’t work but it made the cramping I experience 10 times worse. Lactaid works best when you take it right before consuming dairy products. Unlike other brands of lactose enzyme based products you have to take 3 Lactaid pills to equal a single dose. Taking the pills is easy because they are easy to swallow and don’t have a funny after taste like some other brands. When I took Lactaid most recently I experienced severe stomach cramping. Not the kind of stomach cramping I get when I eat ice cream, but the kind of stomach cramping you get that has you bent over moaning and wailing. The stomach cramping lasted for four hours after a single dose of Lactaid. Thinking that the problem was my new ice cream variety and not the Lactaid, I tried it again with chocolate milk. I experienced the exact same symptoms, bent over moaning and wailing in pain. I don’t know if something has changed with Lactaid or not, but what I do know is it no longer works for my symptoms. Lactaid nutritional information and ingredients per 3 caplets: 9,000 FCC Lactase Enzyme Units; 5 milligrams of Sodium; Mannitol; Cellulose; Sodium Citrate; and Magnesium Stearate. After doing some research on Lactaid (after I purchased it and after my bad experiences with the product), I discovered that Lactaid contains Mannitol. Mannitol is a bad ingredient for anyone with intestinal tract and/or stomach problems. I suffer from GERD, Esophagitis, Lactose sensitivity, and IBS with diarrhea. Mannitol does not breakdown quickly in the intestines and just sort of stays there which can cause severe stomach bloating and diarrhea. While I did not experience diarrhea I definitely experienced stomach bloating during my moments of severe pain. I have been actively researching other brands of lactase enzymes. Lactaid is not the only brand on the market. I most recently tried Best Naturals brand but it had a soapy aftertaste I could not get over. For now I am still on the look out for the perfect lactase enzyme supplement. No more Lactaid for me!Read more

This product has helped me to not have an explosion in the bathroom after eating pizza, ice cream, cheese, milk, quiche, anything and everything that contains dairy or milk. I know this is quite obvious.I’m just saying it has helped my life tremendously. I no longer excuse myself during a meeting because I have to go use the bathroom.it is awkward when you leaving meeting, and you have to go to the bathroom for 20 minutes and then come back. This stuff is fantastic! I am lactose intolerant and yet with these tablets I can tolerate some dairy. I personally still won’t eat too much dairy out of fear but I have lactose intolerant family members who after a couple of tablets can happily have an entire milkshake. I have tried other, cheaper, brands but none have been as good. I will say that although when I use Lactaid I never have any pain I do still get occasional bloating if I have a lot of dairy produce.
