This is not anything like the Lavazza of the past. At first I gave this two stars, but upon some further reflection, and after doing direct side by side comparison tests of two other espresso beans that I also bought recently from amazon: Don Pablo Classic Italian Espresso Whole Bean (Cafe Don Pablo Gourmet Coffee – Classic Italian Espresso – Dark Roast – Whole Bean Coffee – 2 Pound Bag ) and Verena Street Shot Tower Espresso Whole Bean (Verena Street 2 Pound Espresso Beans, Shot Tower Espresso Whole Bean, Rainforest Alliance Certified Arabica Coffee ) I am forced to lower my review to one star. I have always preferred espresso beans to be roasted for a bit longer, but at a lower temperature, than standard Lavazza espresso (the standard Illy espresso beans are an example of that kind of roasting) . But, even so, I still always thought Lavazza was very good and with a clean and crisp, albeit very darkly roasted, flavor. At their best the Lavazza beans used to have a hint of an almost liquorice like aftertaste. This, however, has a very bitter and muddy and unpleasant aftertaste. After tasting this, I immediately wondered if Lavazza was now mixing Robusta beans in with the Arabica beans that they used to use. That would explain how much worse it tastes now than it did when Lavazza was 100% arabica. And, lo and behold, when you look at the answered questions, the seller now admits it is ” 60% Arabica – 40% Robusta “. This explains why this coffee tastes so much worse than Lavazza espresso used to taste. Robusta beans are utter crap when compared with Arabica. I have never, ever, tasted coffee with any Robusta bean content that was any good. Unfortunately, however, since Robusta beans are a lot cheaper than Arabica beans, and since Robusta also has a higher caffeine content, Robusta bean blends are now popping up all over the place. To paraphrase Yates: Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Bad coffee is loosed upon the world, the blood-dimmed tide of Robusta is at handRead more

This is one of my favorite coffee blend. I’m giving this bad rating to warn people to be selective of the vendor that you buy from. The vendor that i purchase the coffee from was Special Supply. The coffee I received were very staled, no aroma or taste. I had to double up on the amount of coffee I normally use to make it drinkable but did not taste like what I was used too. The expiration dates were still good. The 2nd bag was also staled too. Maybe this was a bad batch but I’m think these are fakes. All my previous order of this blend were from Amazon.Read more

We use a Phillips Saeco automatic coffeemaker and we like mild to medium bodied roast. The Lavaza is by far our absolute favorite when it comes to taste and smoothness. We don’t like the dark roasts due to the bitterness and stong acid. This coffee is well balanced and tastes wonderful. We used to buy more expensive coffee of the Kona and blue mountain style. This is a bit superior to those. Beautiful crema, mild but full aroma and reasonable acidity. Compare to premium retail coffee this is a bargain. The Italians know a few things of the finer things in life. Coffee is one of them. We always get full beans which guarantee you the best and lasting aroma.Read more

It’s a great espresso. Usually I buy the single packs, which are usually lest than 6 months out from the manufacture date. This 2-pack was 10 months old. (Not the worst, and not expiring, but not super fresh either) Low review is because one of my bags was punctured or was not properly sealed. One is still usable. MFG Date Nov 14 2019. Exp Date Oct 30 2021. Delivered on Sept 9 2020Read more

I love this bean! Such a rich and bold, yet creamy flavor. The only issue I have is that I will sometimes receive a bag that’s been packaged and sealed 2-3 months ago, which is not the freshest coffee. If I’m paying this much for beans, I’d like to get them fresh from the dealers. I have gotten some bags that are about 2 weeks from being sealed so I guess it’s a chance thing. All in all, awesome coffee! I keep coming back!Read more

I will tell you Lavazza on the super Crema are fantastic oh, the thing why did three stars with the catch your eyes because in this instance for this particular order the coffee was well over a year old that we got when we ordered on Amazon oh, you got to check your freshness date or the packing date cuz that was out of line, and also shop your price because sometimes it can be a big overpriceRead more

Lavazza Super Crema is our daily morning latte and Cafe americano. We create a good head of crema and this is very smooth flavor. This is a good bean and we have a good grinder and machine. The Vendors vary which we seem to have no control over. In this particular delivery/vendor, all went well. Our prime complaint is when vendors have no real commodity basis for price increases.Read more

Best espresso beans we’ve tried anywhere. Noticed they used Lavazza at our favorite local restaurant, and read the reviews which were inline with the cappuccino they made in their $10K espresso machine. It’s just as good at home in our auto espresso machine with an amazing crema, aroma, and zero bitterness. We’ve also tried the Intenso and it’s good as well, this one is better imho.Read more

I waited anxiously for this premium coffee to arrive, expecting a full, rich flavor. But I was disappointed. The coffee has next to no flavor (unless you consider bitter Yekkkkk! to be flavor) and the beans smell like they are old. When I opened the bag and took a deep in-breath there was hardly any coffee smell at all, just the smell of stale beans. Undeterred, I ground and made a cup in my Keurig single-cup dispenser (equipped with a re-usable filter cup) that normally makes a superior cup of coffee from freshly ground beans. This however was reminiscent of the years-old, stale coffee that I’ve found at the back of my cupboard. There are better no-name coffee brands that deliver a quality well above this sludge! In a word, this stuff is “AWFUL” and there are no returns accepted because it’s a food product. I’ve had much better coffee from a thermos dispenser at gas station! Enough said. Hey seller…Can you give me my $50 back? Didn’t think so. My morning coffee will be from 7-11 until I can get some better beans!Read more

After reading a lot of reviews about Lavazza different options, Super Crema is supposed to be a high rated (or one of the best) beans option for espresso from this brand. The beans that I received have no rich flavor, no aroma in it, the espresso tasted more like burned rubber tires. I have experienced much better beans from Lavazza, example Crema e Aroma that even costs half of Super Crema ! Not sure whether the problem is in the batch or the seller or the Super Crema itself. Not worth the price, I can spend half of this price and get much better coffee.Read more
