I have an LG side by side with ice maker. The first year I began noticing overflow ice build-up in the freezer. Examination of the ice maker disclosed that after each ice cycle the refill water ran over the side of the freezing tray, so I raised the front of the LG to stop this over flow. Turns out the tray itself was warped because of the action of the tray release mechanism. So I bought a new ice maker and it started to do the same thing within a month. on my fourth ice maker I noticed a plastic guard on the side of the tray where it normally runs over. Fingers crossed, I hope this one will last longer without the ice berg build up. I doubt I’ll be buying another LG product because their philosophy is sell and forget. It is now June 2020 and I just replaced the ice maker again, same problem as before. I guess it’s cheaper to continue replacing the faulty ice make than buy a new fridge. LG says I should call a mechanic. I know what the problem is and I don’t want to pay $100 to be told the is nothing they can do about it. LG is on my list of companies to absolutely not purchase again.Read more

We were having a lot of problems with our ice maker. Down to it not breaking and dropping the ice and the adding water to the already frozen ice and making a thick layer we had to break manually. Well upon doing so multiple times, it finally broke completely. Ordered this replacement, replacement was one screw and a plug and it has worked PERFECT. Def very satisfied with this product!!Read more

My old ice maker still worked….mostly. It made ice, it just didn’t always dump it like it should. It would go through the process of dumping it, but the ice wouldn’t actually come out. Then it would release the next round of water, which would run all over the freezer and out the water/ice dispenser, ruining my laminate floor. I tried everything to fix it, even spraying the ice tray with food-safe silicone. It would be fine for a few weeks, then all of a sudden I would have a puddle of water under the fridge again. Installed this unit in under 2 minutes, and haven’t had a problem since.Read more

I thought this was a bit pricey for what it is, but considering that I was able to install it in less than ten minutes, it was worth the price. Unlike some of the other reviewers, the wiring harness was immediately compatible with the original. There as only one screw to remove and I just needed to feed the water supply tube into the new unit. A word of caution, although I had the switch on the new unit OFF, it immediately started to move upon connecting the wire harness. Had it been a metal ice tray, I might have been injured! Also, after the ice tray “flexed” the water supply began to pour water into the freezer before I had the unit completely installed! All and all it was not a big deal, and certainly easier than having a service person come to our home to install it!Read more

The replacement unit itself is just fine, but the harness connectors didn’t match up. This necessitated the very difficult job of cutting the connectors off and direct wiring the ten separate wire ends together. Some but not all of the wires matched up by colors, but several DID NOT. Working in the dark, confined space of the freezer compartment made this install very difficult. BE ALERT – if one does manage to get the icemaker installed correctly, one will not know for sure for 12-36 hours. The refrig manual does state this. I was sure pleased to hear that first drop of ice cubes.Read more

The ice cube tray on this part does not have the high “overflow” flange at the front left where the water is directed as the tray is filled. (The overflow flange is centered on the tray left to right which has no apparent function.) So as water fills the tray, it overflows into the freezer. Maybe Amazon is selling an old-style LG part that doesn’t work properly without this flange on the ice cube tray – I’m not sure. Whatever the reason, the tray is a different design and not functional due to water overflow everytime the tray fills. I am returning the part to Amazon.Read more

This was very easy to install. One screw to remove and then replace. And one connector plug to unplug and then plug in. You will have to cycle the ice maker once to get it started. Use the ‘test’ button on the bottom right and side. After that it works just like the one you removed – only better.Read more
