Swaddling has been around for ages as it helps to prevent the startle reflex. But forcing the baby’s arms to their sides or over their chest prevents two natural behaviors that frustrate the baby and they fight to get their hands free.
First – Over 90% of babies sleep with their ARMS UP around their head when placed on their back to sleep. This is simply a baby’s natural and preferred way to sleep, just like in the womb!

This review is for the Love to Dream Silky Lux version of this swaddle. This is a very soft swaddle, and I love the pattern. However the fabric is TOO soft and stretchy- it doesn’t give my baby the secure feeling that the original LTD swaddle does. The fabric is sooo soft. I wasn’t sure if he would like this because there is still room for a startle reflex, but he likes it a lot! I typically use this one for day naps, then I swaddle him at nighttime in a different sleep product. We absolutely loved this swaddle sack. My son is 3 months old and when we would swaddle him he would pop his arms out and toss and turn all night. When we found this product he went in super easily and he still had partial movement of his arms but not enough to knock out his pacifier in the middle of the night or startle. Because of this swaddle sack he sleeps through the night. We recently transitioned to the larger sack with the zip off arms and this made it super easy to transition. I do love this sleep sack, however, it’s a little small on my daughter, even at one month. She is in the 75% for weight and 90% for height. Height wise there is a ton of room for her to kick her feet which she loves to do. But it is pretty tight on her chest and I will definitely order her a size up in her next stage. We absolutely LOVE this swaddle!! It’s soo soft. It’s somewhat thin so I wouldn’t recommend for very cold weather. We keep our room between 71-78f and it’s good for that range. We live in an area where it never gets too cold so this swaddle is perfect for us. This is our second love to dream swaddle (we have the original swaddle up and she loves that one too). Lifesaver! Our 5wk old baby would throw a fit each time we swaddled her in the Halo Swaddle and then take forever to calm down. She seems to love this swaddle and doesn’t fuss at all when we put it on. She is secure enough to feel cozy but not restrained…and able to put her hands near her mouth to sooth herself. We are one week in and have been getting 4-5 hour stretches at night and couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend. Super soft and stretchy material. We live in Texas but keep our house about 70 degrees…so we put her in a footie pajama under the swaddle since the material is slightly thin.
