I can spoon molasses into my gas tank faster then the Rotopax/Fuelpax cans I use pours gas into my gas tank. The tiny vent hole integrated into the spout does not work well at all. So I looked at vent caps and choose the MagicFour Vent Caps. It appears wells designed and comes with a drill for the proper sized hole. I installed these on a Fuelpax can which is a thinner walled version of the Rotopax cans (see picture). The installation is easy but the instructions could have been improved. First off the brass threaded insert was a very tight fit through the drilled hole and pulling hard would have straightened the wire cause the part to fall inside. I gently persuaded the part just enough to get the nut on and used the nut to pull the part all the way through and assembly per instructions. Secondly the assembly will not tighten adequately as when the nut is torqued it will begin to turn the entire assembly. I used a pair of pliers to hold the threaded section using tape on the pliers to protect the threads then held it in place while I properly tightened the nut (see attached picture). Its a joy to pour gas now. With the rotopax spout alone it took 5 minutes to empty with a slow glug glug. When i open the Magicfour vent it pours smoothly and empties in less then 60 seconds. One observations is that the small caps are not captured and guaranteed to be dropped and/or lost. I big oversight in the product is this lack of lanyard. . I hold back one star for the lack of a lanyard to keep from losing the cap.Read more

SKIP THESE IF YOU PLAN TO USE THEM ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN THIN WALLED CANS. THE CAPS WILL NOT SCREW ON ALL THE WAY TO SEAL COMPLETELY. ALSO SKIP IF THE CAN DOESNT HAVE A COMPLETELY FLAT SURFACE BOTH ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. THESE WONT SCREW ON EVENLY CAUSING LEAKS. YOUVE BEEN WARNED.Read more

I like it. The included tools are of good quality and thoroughness. The drill bit is cobalt coated and is sharp. The wrench is adequate for the job and can be used to debur the inside and outside of the drilled hole. The fishing wire is appropriate for the task. I used an awl to help hold the vent still while I tightened the nut. The o-ring seating areas are concave to hold the o-ring in place and provide a good seal. My gas can still had some lingering gas fumes after sitting open and empty for two weeks. I filled it full of carbon monoxide from the exhaust of my Kawasaki Mule for a couple of minutes to displace the air in the can before I drilled the hole. I am not recommending this but just stating what this future Darwin Award winner did.Read more

I use fuel reward points to save $1 a gallon on gas, to take full advantage I fill several 5 gallon cans to buy the max of 35 gallons at the reduced price. But filling my tank with 5 gal cans is a pain without a vent!! Adding these vents are awesome – cut drain time in HALF! Makes good gas cans great [midwest or metal], but don’t waste them on crap new style gas cans [scepter] bc they cannot be mounted high enough. Midwest can on left vs. Scepter can on right – mounting the vent requires access to the inside, so near straight across from the spout. The poor design of the Scepter cans make it impossible to mount in a high spot when it’s inverted so it doesn’t allow you to open the vent until you’ve emptied about a third. Performance improvement is awesome, cuts the time taken to empty a 5 gal can in half!!! Going forward I will put the cheap plastic pop in vents to the handle of the scepter cans and use these metal vents on the much better Midwest style cans. Note, the Midwest cans are also twice as thick as the Scepter cans.Read more

Works as intended, empty a 5 gallon container in about 2 minutes vs 10 minutes drill bit included worked great on the plastic and the metal can.Read more

I like the idea of these but 1 of my gas cans has an internal filter that I cannot remove, thus foiling the installation procedure completely. This kit is very well made, but one must use an included wire to pass the internal part to the vent hole that you’ve drilled (using the included drill bit). The slide-along-the-wire procedure works well as long as you’re thoughtful about where you’re drilling.Read more

This vent cap kit came complete with everything necessary for the installation of vents in my three fuel cans. I used my electric drill to turn the 7.8mm drill bit included in the kit – which also included a small open-end wrench, a length of stiff fish wire, and complete English instructions with color photos of each step. It took me less than 5 minutes each to install the vents in my 5-gallon poly gas cans. These vents are all metal with neoprene gaskets, and will probably last longer than the gas cans themselves.Read more
