Medcosa Itch Cream is made in China and comes with a child resistant cap and a secure inner seal. This cream contains 2 active ingredients: lidocaine 4% and menthol 1%, along with a long list of inactive ingredients. Lidocaine is a good topical anesthetic and a good choice for minimizing the pain and itch of insect bites. Menthol has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce swelling. Since I live in the Gulf Coast region, mosquitoes, biting gnats and fire ants are a year round nuisance. Medcosa Itch cream applied to a bite can reduce the misery of insect bites and stings. The directions for this cream are for use on the affected area no more than 3 to 4 times a day. It is for adults or children over two years of age. Although my main use of Medcosa Itch Cream is on insect bites, it is also appropriate for temporary relief of pain and itching of burns, scrapes and other minor skin irritations.Read more

I got three different Medcosa creams: Pain Relief, Itch Relief, and Skin Numbing. All are labeled “Max Strength,” have 4% Lidocaine and 1% Menthol, and each lists the exact same inactive ingredients. The packaging is exactly the same except for the color and name of the cream, which I think is intended to be some kind of post-hypnotic suggestion or test-market exercise. I mean, what do you need? Numb your skin? Get “Skin Numbing Cream.” Get relief from itching? “Itch Relief Cream.” Relieve pain? Get “Pain Relief Cream.” They are all the same thing! All have a gift card included that require you to log onto Facebook to redeem. I refuse to use Facebook, so I can’t tell you what “gift” you might receive; I’m pretty sure it will be the same thing for each of these creams. Each bottle has one of those peel-back Drug Facts labels, which really ought to be posted on this product page because there are a number of cautions. I tried to take pictures of it, but the type is small and hard to read. I hope you’ll be able to see it, because some people should not use this cream. Being an old typographer, I can tell you that the ingredients are identical; the “holes” in the justified type are exactly the same. By the way, one danger of using Lidocaine is that it can really hurt your eyes if you have any on your fingers and rub your eyes. I know because I had such an experience with Lidocaine many years ago that required medical treatment. So be sure to wash your hands immediately after using the cream.Read more

This is a pretty good performer when it comes to general itch relief (such as bug bites). It’s a blend of 4% lidocaine and 1% menthol. The lidocaine provide a light numbing that helps cut the irritation, and the cooling menthol makes it feel far more comfortable. As you would expect it does have a menthol smell to it but it’s not overwhelming unless you’re spreading this across a large area. The product is made in China. The cream is decently thick but not so thick that it’s hard to dispense from the squeeze bottle. It spreads easily, soaks in well, and doesn’t leave any greasy residue behind after it has soaked in. Be sure to wash your hands well after applying it since getting even a trace of menthol in your eye is no fun. The manufacturer makes two other versions of this: one is for “pain relief” and the other is for “skin numbing.” All three versions are exactly the same formulation of 1% menthol and 4% lidocaine. You may want to check to see if one is priced better prior to purchase. In terms of value this is just average. There are other similar products that blend lidocaine and menthol, and are offered as either a spray or a cream. Additionally, other manufacturers offer a 5% lidocaine concentration, which provides a little more numbing power. While this is not priced out of range, it’s not a huge bargain either. Taking all factors into consideration puts my overall score at 4 stars.Read more

I had some minor twingy itches, probably from dry skin, that this helped with fairly quickly. However, I have been taking antibiotics for an internal infection/inflammation, and had episodes of insane asylum type itching… the kind of itching that can literally drive you crazy!!! I grabbed for this stuff, and it didn’t help much at all, or not at least in the moments I needed it. Within a while my skin did stop itching, but that was after I poured on every product I had in this house, and took a second shower to boot! Whether or not this did help, but took its time, I don’t know, but the itching eventually stopped… until the next round started in. Again, this worked well on the little itches and maybe my horrendous itch was medication induced, and it just had to run its course. This said, I also have this company’s pain cream and guess what… they are the exact same ingredients! That one did help with minor joint pains and cramps, so at least I have two bottles of the same stuff now, and I will have it ready for the next time.Read more

I ordered the MEDCOSA Itch Cream to treat the occasional initial symptoms of an eczema flare up. The cream performed as well as many of the brand-named Over-The-Counter (OTC) products, but included a faint mentholated scent; not usually associated with itch creams. I did experience a warm sensation of the area of application, but nothing that was bothersome. This cream was not as concentrated as some other brands; composition was diluted and condensed, but didn’t seem to hamper effectiveness. The MEDCOSA itch cream contained in the 2.7 OZ bottle was also larger than the 2.1 OZ tube of a brand-named itch cream I routinely purchase. For me, this generic MEDCOSA brand produced the equivalent results as named brand ointments on the market, but at a considerably lower cost. MEDCOSA also enclosed a thank you notecard that read, β€œWe’ve got a little surprise waiting for you on the [FB] link above.” I’m unable to disclose what that surprise might be because I don’t have an account to access it. The plastic bottle of cream was packaged in a customized box and delivery was fast.Read more
