I’m very impressed with Meguiar’s X2000 “Water Magnet” Microfiber drying towel. Because I keep my car waxed well, I typically dry my car with a high-powered blower and follow-up with a microfiber towel to get the small areas I’ve missed. Because I use Meguiar’s Gold Class wax, when I use the blower, the water easily flies off the car. I’ve always been averse to drying a car with any type of towel, but this drying towel does a great job and appears safe as long as your car’s surface is completely clean of contaminants. After using Meguiar’s “Water magnet” I’m very satisfied with the results. The pictures below are from using it on my son’s car. I found it most effective to open the towel completely and carefully drag it across the car surfaces. At 22″x30″ it covers a large surface area and sucks up the water very well. It’s easy to wring out, and I only had to wring it out 5-6 times to dry his entire car. Like most Amazon shoppers, I count on honest, unbiased reviews. I hope you have found this review helpful in making your purchase decision.Read more

First in order for this review to have any meaning you have to understand how the product creates a clear or smooth surface. As a general rule if you don’t have to rub the surface the product is not removing any material and is not a polish. There are many products that have a wipe on fluid that causes plastic such as a headlight cover to appear more clear. The surface is sanded (this is the rough polishing) to remove the oxidation and give a uniform surface. Then the chemical is applied. The chemical is not a polish. It is a chemical reaction that is melting the plastic similar to running a flame over a candle that has scratches. Solvent melting of a surface usually degrades the plastic it melts. It may appear smooth but is weaker to scratches. There are products that fill the gaps so that a surface appears more clear. Put oil on a frosted glass piece and you can then see through it. This product is in that class. There may be some polish in it but it is very little and/or very fine. We found little to no affect. Any product that is wipe on and wipe off is not polishing. Polishing takes a buffer or some elbow grease. We did not wipe on and off but used a buffing wheel. I would guess there is an optically clear filler like car wax in it and that gives the clearing affect for a limited time. To actually polish plastic you are removing material. If you have deep scratches then you would typically start with a courser polish so you don’t spend all day with a fine polish. This will scratch up the entire surface to remove material till there are no scratches deeper than what the polish makes.. The next stage is to use a finer polish which reduces the scratch depth again. You use finer polishes till you have the clarity that you want. The softer the material the more difficult it is to polish. There is no magic wipe on “polish” that we have found. If there are not different grit polishes then it is likely that it won’t work well. One of the ones we have had success with is Novus. The higher the number the courser the grit and the cloudier the surface will be without going to a lower number/finer grit afterward. 2 is not bad for optically clear but it is not water clear. If you use a buffing wheel and spin too fast and push too hard you will melt the plastic and make a real mess. A drill may be a better choice if you haven’t worked with a buffer. Pick a product that meets your needs understanding what it does and if that is the best option. It may be too thin or delicate or soft for a polish.Read more

This company used to make the gold standard for clear plastic polish and rejuvenation called Mirror Glaze. It was used in the private airplane and motorcycle areas for cleaning windshields and visors Etc. It would remove small scratches and polish the surface again. It was the best there was 20 to 30 years ago. Then they divided up the Mirror Glaze product line into different products and even together they didn’t work as well as the original. Recently I tried a bottle of their PlastX which came in a headlight rejuvenation kit and it worked as well as the original mirror glaze product. So I ordered a bottle of it. It now says new and improved unlike the photo above. We all know what that usually means, either less or poorer quality product for the same or higher price. Such is not the case this time. I took a visor which I had already used both the original mirror glaze and the original PlastX on and it helped some as it always had. Then I use this on that same visor, the new and improved PlastX. . And it is at least a 50% improvement over the previous products. Scratches and abrasions which the previous products could not remove we’re now gone. I would call this the new gold standard.Read more

I saw this product used in a CNET video and was rated best so I figured I would try it myself on my 2012 Infiniti QX56 as it already has slowly over the years has gotten worst on the headlights. I used this along with “Qiilu 19Pcs Sponge Polishing Waxing Buffing Pads Kit Foam Polish Pad Set for Car Polisher+ M10 Drill Adapter+ HOOK & LOOP Foam Polishing Disc 3” so I don’t have to do so much polishing by hands and the results are nothing but WOW! Highly recommended! Just see my pics and judge for yourself.Read more

Ok, full disclosure. I was a longtime Meguiar’s customer. But recently there have been new players on the market that have very innovative formulas for different applications. The price point of Meguiar’s is very appealing and that is why I purchased this kit. Individually these items would cost… well I don’t know exactly, but a lot more than the kit is sold for. Meguiar’s still has the best clay bar system and offers products that many of their competitors do not offer. Such as ScratchX, and the headlight cleaner and polish. But this is marketed as a “Complete Car Care Kit” and does not include a wheel cleaner! I find that dumbfounding. Ok, maybe that is taking it too far. And in fact I do not use Meguiar’s products to clean my wheels, but still. Cleaning the wheels is integral for a clean car. Just an FYI.Read more

I used this to clean the screen of my Audi MMI and remove the anti glare coating which the previous owner had managed to ruin – leaving the screen looking terrible. Thanks to some guy on YouTube he said buy this stuff and rub it on the screen. It completely refurbished the screen so it looks brand new! It actually says on the guidance not to use on LCD screens but I guess that because it would remove any anti-glare coating, but if its looking terrible then you most certainly do want it removed. I have to say the screen looks miles better without it!Read more

This is one of those products that’s only as good as the effort you’re willing to put in. If you have cloudy headlights, and think a quick wipe with PlastX will make them look new again, you need to think again. However, if you have a machine polisher (or drill with mop attachment), and are willing to dedicate some time (at least 30 minutes per headlight), you’ll be very pleased with the results. In summary, a good product, but needs you to put the effort in to realise a good result.Read more

it worked really well on some 12 year old headlamps using a Black & Decker Mouse sander with a microfibre cloth. wiped the headlamp with a wet cloth to get rid of any dirt. poured on the polish liberally and smeared over the headlamp. Then polished using the cloth and sander to take some of the effort out. Moved the sander in all directions, across the lense, up and down, circles etc… making sure to polish evenly across the lense. The cream creates a smear and haze which you need to polish through, the clear perspex finally being revealed after about 5 – 7 minutes. You can see the before and after results in the images below. The lense initially looked hazy white which the camera does not pick up. I’m impressed with how good they have turned out and remained clear since doing this.Read more

Promoted for use on cloudy headlights, but I had some rather scratched-up tail lights on a new (6 month old) car; been there from new and heavy swirling on the the shiny black plastic on the door pillars. Watched youtube, as you do, specifically for correcting the black plastic with Megs 205. Thought i’d give this a go as it is apparently milder. By hand it gave a decent improvement on the tail lights (swirling much better, larger scratches remain), but minimal change on the black trim. Then used DA while polishing the rest of the car (Megs 205). Followed up with Menzerna 3800 then Collinite 476 wax and brought the tail lights up to being fully transparent from all angles and the black trim to “90%”. NB i didn’t over-work any product on the black trim given i was using an over-sized pad and didn’t want to do lasting harm to the lacquer or plastic itself. Is this better than ‘205 (or 105 then 205) – I can’t say. Did the combination I used give me the results I was looking for – absolutely. As with pretty much all Meguiars products, not cheap (though comparable products in similar bracket) but do the job they say and given how little you use, the cost per job is fine.Read more

Works really well , used it on a old van instrument cluster lens with lots of scratches, some fairly deep to test it out before I let it loose on my bmw. It got all the scratches out & looks great now but don’t just expect to wipe it over what ever you’re polishing & the scratches will go , you have to put some elbow grease into it to get the results you desire , make sure the microfibre clothes you use are clean so you don’t make new scratches.Read more
