I LOVE Melissa & Doug. They have a lot of cute “wooden” toys that tend to be overpriced, but they’re good quality and good design. When Amazon had a sale on this Art Combo Set, we purchased 2 of them with the intention of splitting up the pieces into three art boxes to be used as Christmas gifts. The sets come with a lot of different sheets of paper (4 rainbow, 4 white-coated rainbow, 4 light-catcher, and 4 silver holographic) but unfortunately you can’t tell the difference between any of them because they aren’t labeled! The black sheets are all identical (until you start drawing on them). They’re individually packaged, so it would have been really easy to just label the plastic bags (of which there were MANY in this set!) Otherwise, I still like the Melissa & Doug brand and will continue to buy…. just wish this set was thought out a little bit better.Read more

The media could not be loaded. Great for a budding artist or younger child. The frames are pretty flimsy but for my 5 year old was a great way to display his master piece. So far we have only tried the sun catcher paper and I was pleasantly surprised that this product doesn’t leave behind the black shavings like some. Overall a nice starter kit, you get the sticks, a variety of papers, 2 frames, and stencils for under $15. I am pretty happy with my purchase and most of all my son is occupied!Read more

Overall the kids loved this product. I had bought two of these for the kids I babysit for christmas and we finally got around to doing it. When we started playing with these I noticed that only one of the boxes contained the sparkle pack. I thought maybe it got mixed up with the sisters box. So I set all the packs from both boxes, eight in total, and checked each pack and discovered only one sparkle pack. This was heartbreaking for the little girl that didn’t receive one. I did trade two regular rainbow ones for two of the sister’s sparkle ones to make it even and fair. I just wanted to warn other people about this so they can check the box and fix the problem sooner. Other than that problem the kids loved this product and was focused on this for over an hour, which is amazing for kids.Read more

I purchased this kit as a Christmas gift for a little girl I babysit for. She’s a sensory-seeker and I read that kids like her usually love scratch paper. Unfortunately, the box contains hardly any materials at all; it was all packaging!! Kind of embarrassing to give as a gift actually :-(. I think there are scratch-paper kits out there that are a much better value than this one.Read more

Like most Melissa and Doug products, this is a nice tech-free product for kids. I think this would be good for kids 4-10. What kid (or grownup!) doesn’t love these scratch off pads! It’s a simple but fun activity for kids. I would not recommend for use in the car due to the mess. It’s easy to sweep or vacuum up at home, but I wouldn’t want it all over my car.Read more

My little Grands and I spent some time together this summer and I bought this little set so we’d have some fun being artistic together. And we did enjoy making beautiful pictures. It was fascinating scratching off the darkness and seeing the finished beauty underneath. My only complaint is it is a very messy process. We had little pieces that were scratched off for days! All over the kitchen. Yuck! But it cleaned up fast and most importantly we had fun creating together. So I recommend the set but my advice would be to play with this little beauty outside!Read more

got this for my wife. she loved it, they take a LONG time to complete. not saying that’s bad or good, just saying they take a long time. the “tools” it comes with work good. the thing comes rolled up so you have to unroll it and put something heavy on it for a day or two to flatten it out.Read more
