Pint sized explorers love bath activities that keep them busy and engaged in the tub. Introduce “reel” bath time fun with the Fishing Bath Toy by Munchkin. The magnetic fishing hook easily picks up sea creatures (which double as bobbing bath toys), and the handle is specially made to fit toddler hands. The reel even makes fun clicking sounds when turned, giving it a more realistic feel. Great for developing hand eye coordination and teaching cause and effect, too, so your little one falls hook, line and sinker for bath time learning fun.

My son seems to enjoy this toy but I’m disappointed in the quality. The rod has screws and it’s already rusty. We have only used it for 3 days.Read more

I debated for a while between this set and some others that had working reels and line. Ultimately, since my kids are only 1 and 2, I decided on these for now, as I knew they’d be of better quality and durability for younger children. I think I made the right decision. My 2 (almost 3) year old enjoyed fishing for these in and out of the tub! My 1 year old just saw it as a weapon to hit his sister with, kind of as expected. I liked that the line is a good quality, fast dry fabric and not long enough to become wrapped around a child’s neck. The fish are completely sealed so no concerns for mold growth. The magnets are strong enough for a quick connection every time. My daughter’s been reeling in both directions and had no issues with the reel jamming or breaking yet. Ultimately, if you are buying for the older crowd, probably 4 and up, I’d suggest going for another set with a working rod and reel and more fish. Older kids will get bored with this set quickly. But it’s perfect for the younger kiddos and entertains them with a well constructed, quality toy that appears to have the durability to endure the punishment their toys are given when thrown, stomped on and banged about!Read more

Bought this to go with my 3-year-old daughter’s water table and was slightly disappointed that it doesn’t actually reel in the toys. It does make a clicking sound as you rotate it to insinuate the realism of reeling in I suppose, but it would have been a nice feature. My daughter is also confused as to why there’s a baby to fish. All 3 should be fish imo. Other than that, the magnets work and they’re big enough to not be a potential choking hazard.Read more

My 1.5yr old was very excited and loved playing with this fishing pole in the tub, unfortunately within a few days I had to throw it away. The rod has screws that rusted, which poses a health hazard when it comes to young ones. Very disappointing.Read more

This is our second “Fishin’” toy and it’s perfect. We keep one in our beach bag for our pool trips and one in the tub. This toy specifically is extremely durable and doesn’t have any places that will get moldy like in a lot of other bath toys. No only do I approve of it as far as durability and cleanliness but my kiddos (1-1/2 and 3)love it! They love the clicking reel and catching the toys and throwing them back to catch again!Read more

Our toddler entered a phase where he was suddenly afraid to sit in the tub. This was pretty sad for us as he previously LOVED bath time. In an effort to lure him back into the joys of tub time, we looked for some new toys. This fishing pole was a hit!! It was fun for him to play with while he was still standing, and he gradually got more comfortable again and is sitting in no time! I am sure a lot of toys would have gotten the job done, but our son really enjoyed this. The pole and the magnetized fish/octopus/scuba diver are really durable so far and have held up to toddler smashing. Would buy again/gift/recommend.Read more

My son LOVES this fishing rod. He looks forward to bath time just so he can use it. Very well made and I love that water doesn’t stay inside the toys and you can rinse everything so it doesn’t mold (no issues yet.) I wish the fishing rod actually extended out a little so that it could be pulled in but I can see how it would create some extra problems with internal cleaning etc.Read more

This is a great bath toy for those who worry about mold. It’s also just a fun activity for the kids. It’s not too difficult to connect the fish to the pole, but the younger they are, the harder it is due to the needed coordination. My almost 4 year old has no problem, but my just turned 2 year old, it’s a little more difficult. But even when they are not fishing, they like playing with the little characters. Also, the string doesn’t wind up, but it’s thick and durable. The wheel does turn and sounds like a fishing rod. The only concern I can see would be if you have two kids and one throws. They are kind of heavy and hard, and it would probably hurt to be hit by one.Read more

My son ripped the handle of his bath bucket and said he was going fishing, so I thought it was time to get him a proper fishing rod. The rod is perfect in size for my 2.5 year old. Its not too big where he is hitting the wall or where I am worried he will hit himself in the head with it. Its a nice bright and colourful green and easy to hold. The reel just makes clicking sounds which he is not very interested in. The fish are bottom heavy so they always float upright with the magnets facing up. This makes them easy to catch when you hover over them. The magnets are quite strong as well. If you have a metallic tub they will stick and stay. Even when wet and covered in soap they will not slide down, so I would say the magnets are good quality. My son has thrown and banged them many times and none have broke, cracked or lost their magnetism to date. I was initially disappointed that the rope didn’t retract, I knew this before I bought it. But after giving it some thought, thinking about the soap and water going inside the rod and the mould that would occur, I am very happy it does. Makes rinsing and cleaning much easier and I know its not a toy that will make my son ill. My only complaint is I wish it came with 5 fish or you could buy others separately and in different styles. Overall, this is an excellent fishing set and would buy again and I may to get some additional fish and another rod to play along. Pros: – great bath time fun – easy to hold and play with; helps develop hand and eye coordination – quality is quite good and magnets are stronger than expected Cons: – would like more fishRead more

I really wish I could find a magnetic fishing toy with parts made of silicone. I don’t see a reason for these parts to be made of hard plastic. First off, the rigidity makes them more susceptible to cracks and breakage and I’m not sure I fully trust in their waterproofabilty, so if water does get inside, there is risk of mould growth. I will say the magnets are very strong, and the design is cute, but other than that, I’m not impressed with this purchase.Read more

We previously purchased the older version of this toy and this one is way better. The fishing line is flexible cord rather than plastic so it moves easily in all directions and the floating toys all float with the magnets for catching them facing upwards, unlike the old version where they all tipped on their sides. Only problem with this is if you have a metal bath tub the creatures may occasionally stick to the sides when they float close to the edge, my kids find it funny and do it on purpose so maybe it’s not a downside from a childs perspective. Toys don’t get water stuck inside and water drains easily from the fishing rod.Read more

This is so easy for my grandson to use, and it is the one he searches for first in the toy box! He loves it! He plays in the tub with it sometimes but he just loves it in the play area too! He keeps pulling the fish off then fishing for it again and trying to figure out how it sticks. He is one. He does like the clicking noise of the reel as he turns it. Must say it is very cute, soft bendable cord for the line makes it more real, but he does get excited and bonks himself with the lure. (Doesn’t phase him) I keep an eye on the ends where the magnets are to check for wear and so far of months of play, still going strong. Thank you.Read more

This is a very cute idea, and it can be fun to use, but sadly there is only one small magnetic spot on the ball parts, which makes it challenging to “catch” them, especially since they’re not weighted for the magnetic part to be at the top. They spin around in the water, and it’s less fun for a little kid struggling to bounce them around in the water until the right side is facing up. That’s my main complaint, but otherwise it’s a cute idea.Read more
