We were having a terrible time keeping our toddler out of the fridge. He would go in, open drawers, and then leave the door open. It was a perfect game for our little boy. Man, was he mad when he discovered we added one of these locks. It seems to be holding up well so far to the tantrums and angry pulling, as he rages against the machine…door.Read more

I have been looking for a solution for this circular cabinet for years. It doesn’t look pretty but it works and it saves my spices for being dumped all over the kitchen and the cat !Read more

So I ordered 4 and used 3 of them. I don’t have children but used them to prevent my cats from messing with stuff underneath the sink and in a cabinet with their food. They’re super simple to install and place onto the cabinet – one quick addition and you’re done. However, if you do choose to get these, be sure to NOT put the latches underneath a handle – I made the mistake with 2 of the ones I bought, and it was impossible to unlock the latch when it was underneath a handle. The adhesive is quick and the latches glued on almost immediately, but due to the wrong placement, I had to remove it. Which brings me to why I have I knocked it down to 3 stars: it’s HARD to remove and not at all easy like the product claims to be. The product and the instructions say ‘all you have to do is pry it off, starting with a corner.’ which you CANNOT do. The adhesive is very strong, and poses a danger of ruining cabinets if you’re not careful. I spent forever trying to removing it and it was impossible to even make headway. What actually got the latches off the cabinets was putting Goo Gone (other reviewers have put on that Acetone (nail polish remover) will work, but that can easily damage wood or paint so I wouldn’t recommend it) and letting that soak for a few minutes. After that, I would then try to pry it off – one came off with just my hands. The other ones required a CAREFUL use of the screwdriver to wedge the latch off the cabinet. If it didn’t come off immediately, I just sprayed more Goo Gone. After it, I managed to get it off cleanly. I have seen other people recommend taking a blowdryer to dry out the adhesive, but did not try that. Others have recommended using string/floss to cut off the adhesive from behind – tried that too, didn’t work as it couldn’t really get behind it and was difficult. I have no idea how difficult it will be to remove if the adhesive was on the cabinet for several years (I only had mine on for a couple of hours), and probably will not find out. End of the story – this works great and prevents both kids and pets from accessing cabinets but holy cow does it require a lot of careful effort to remove and can damage your cabinets as other reviewers have pointed out. If you do plan on getting this, be aware that removal will be difficult. The above steps though can hopefully help someone suffer less.Read more

I love these! I bought them originally for the fridge after my 2 year old got in and smashed a chocolate pudding pie all over the floor and dumped 4 pints of kefir onto the living room carpet. But I used the 2nd one to “lock” the baby gate into the kitchen that he had figured out!Read more

I purchased these to keep my exploring 18 month old twins out of our entertainment center. We have two glass doors they just loved to open. Applying them was easy, but unfortunately one of my girls tugged on the strap before it was really set and ripped the back latch (the one we don’t use) off the wood. It wouldn’t stick now so I just pulled out some of my extra command strips and stuck it down. It’s mostly out of sight so we don’t see the tabs and it works great! The locks are pretty large and unsightly, but they get the job done and they can’t figure it out (yet). I’m sure by 3 or so they’ll discover they just have to push the buttons and boom! Access to whatever. But they are excellent for now. It would be nice if they supplied extra adhesive just in case (or for reuse). It’d also be nice if they made them in a black, and a brushed and polished silver color too, just to make them look slightly nicer. They accomplish what I wanted at an excellent price, would recommend! Edit: September 7, 2013: My daughters are now over two years old and still cannot get into these. I put them on all cabinets in our kitchen now as well. If I leave one off on accident they try to put it back on but can’t. They have very small hand and not much strength in them so I have confidence that these will last for a long time. You really have to push the side buttons and pull it off, my daughters can’t do this. To apply the ones in my kitchen I removed the adhesive provided on the lock all together and stuck it on with command strips instead to save the cabinets in our rental house. My daughters pull and pull on them and even using command strips instead of the provided adhesive they haven’t been able to pull them off. Still love them! EDIT FEBRUARY 29, 2016: My daughters are now 4.5 years olds and just finally discovered how to undo these locks. Luckily we don’t much need them anymore, so I removed them all. I highly recommend these locks over any other type for keeping small children out of drawers, cabinets, fridges, dishwashers, etc etc. They worked excellently for us for a little over 3 years!Read more

Our dog likes to raid the trash now and then. We were sick of it. I put one of these on a few days ago. Today, I came home to the attached photos. He grabbed a sliver of trash bag that wasn’t covered by the lid, dragged it out as much as he could, but he couldn’t get the lid open. I call that a success, even if we had to pick up shredded black plastic from the floor after. :)Read more

Bought for my grandma with dementia to stop her going into the fridge in the middle of the night. Works perfectly. Easy to apply, effective to use. I imagine would be particularly good to also stop small children getting into places they shouldn’t!Read more
