Neater Pet Brands Stainless Steel Metal Slow Feed Bowl (Non-Tip Style) – Stops Dog Food Gulping, Bloat, Indigestion, and Rapid Eating Medium Non-Tip Base

(12 customer reviews)

Slows Down Rapid Eaters — Eating too quickly can lead to indigestion, vomiting, bloat, and overeating. Using a slow feed bowl helps prevent your dog from the dreaded “scarf and barf.”
Dimensions & Capacity — Holds up to 2 cups of food. Measures 10″ diameter across base, 7″ diameter across top, and 2″ tall. Great for small to medium sized dog breeds.
Non-Tip Design — If your dog pushes against the bowl while trying to get the food, this bowl will stay put thanks to its non-tip and non-slip design. Rubber ring on the bottom prevents sliding and is removable for easy cleaning.
Just Challenging Enough — Ever look at a slow feed bowl and think “how in the world will my dog get the food out of that?” The idea is to slow your dog’s eating down, not to create unnecessary frustration. Our bowl is designed to slow them down without driving them crazy.
Stainless Steel & Dishwasher Safe — This bowl is made of stainless steel and is dishwasher safe. Stainless steel is the preferred bowl material of many pet owners because it’s durable, doesn’t hold odors, and doesn’t collect bacteria like some other dog bowl materials.

Decent Quality Stainless Steel but this bowl has a TERRIBLE anti-slip rubber bottom, comprised of a 1″ rubber piece, folded in half to make a 1/2″ ring that slips over the lip at the base of the bowl. I set the feeder down on concrete floor and by the time my dog (45lb pitbull mix who is a gentle but fast eater) was done eating, the rubber ring on the bottom had come off. I am unable to get it back on with 2 hands although it’s quite flimsy, it just slides right off the edge. The bowl is also quite shallow and therefore it didn’t slow down feeding rate by much. This bowl will just fit 1.25 cups of food without spilling over the top, it will NOT fit 2 cups as indicated. Luckily I only feed 1.25c per meal. I already tore the tags off so I can’t return it. To make this bowl better, it needs to be a little deeper and the rubber ring foot at the bottom needs to be substantial enough to stay on while the dog is eating – it would need to be more than the 1/2″ wide it is currently. In my opinion, this bowl is OK for short, medium sized dogs over 20lb and under 45lb that eat between .75 to 1.25 cups food at each meal. Fun fact: when flipped upside down, the bowl can serve as a chip and dip dispenser with a paw print design since the rubber ring will be gone. ::smile::Read more

This works fine as a slow feeder, we switched from a plastic slow feeder bowl which did work a little better to slow down my dog but I felt stainless steel was more sanitary and would retain less odor (eg. For Fish oil). However this bowl is not non-skid. Also the rubber “rim” is actually a separate ring that is removable. Food and water gets stuck in between it, and you have to remove it to wash and dry the bowl thoroughly, and it’s kind of a pain to put it back on. (We feed homemade food and have to wash the bowl everyday). After a few uses I ended up buying a different brand that works better.Read more

Okay, so, this bowl is a great choice to slow down a fast little eater. Our buddy was raised in pretty poor conditions where he wasn’t always given the food he should have been, so he learned to value food a little too much, to the point where he sometimes whines while his food is being prepared because he’s nervous that he won’t actually get it for some reason. In any case, it means that (in a regular bowl) he takes big bites and just eats as fast as possible. Since that’s really not good for him, especially now that he’s an older guy, we bought him this to slow him down a little. We also got him a snuffle mat, which he LOVES (and which slows him WAY down), but this is his breakfast and dinner bowl. But, major drawback alert – after a little while, the bowl seems to get a haze on it. If you scratch at that haze with water and a copper wool or something similar, the haze goes away – until it dries, then, it comes right back. Which means it’s actually scuzz that forms because the polished finish has been work down from being licked so much, or it’s just the slightly “roughed up” metal after the finish is ruined. Either way, whether it’s the texture of the metal or whether it’s gunk that forms where the metal’s worn down, it looks gross. Our little man doesn’t mind, but like, it looks GROSS to us. It’s DEFINITELY clean, we’ve run it through the dishwasher with the temp boost on, we’ve scraped and scrubbed it, hit it with peroxide/alcohol/vinegar/etc, but it’s always still there. So yeah, be prepared for the bowl to eventually look… gross.Read more

If you have dogs (like mine), who attack their food and inhale it as fast as they can, you need this bowl. It is stainless steel and easy to clean. There are some plastic bowls on the market that we have used that are good in theory, but bad in practice. The plastic slow bowls are impossible to clean. Impossible. This is a stainless bowl that you can actually clean, and it slows down dogs just enough to where they have to put in a little work to get their food. This is a very good product and I recommend it. The only thing keeping this from a four star rating is that the rubber ring along the bottom designed to make the bowl non-slip came off immediately. We put it back on, but it kept coming off. We have two of these, and the same issue was present for both bowls, so it seems like a design flaw. We still use the bowls, and they are great, but they can slide on a hard surface without the rubber ring. Not a big deal for us, but it might be for you.Read more

We are happy with this bowl, for what it is – a nice, stainless bowl with a no-slip rubber grip on the bottom and a center hub to slow down the gulping dog. Just beware that the 2 cup capacity fills the bowl to the brim. If you have a fast eater, you probably have a sloppy eater, and may end up with your dog eating some of his/her meal off the floor. To deal with the size/mess issue, we simply don’t fill the bowls to the top, stand by as our dogs eat, and add some when they’re nearly finished. It works for us, but I wish I could have found one with a bit larger capacity. The reviews on some of the other bowls mentioned that the anti skid ring was flimsy, and in some cases difficult to reattach, so I steered clear of those. I have no such problems with the ring on these bowls.Read more

We previously had a puzzle bowl but our older dog chewed the plastic one day while bored. We decided to get this stainless steel slow feeder instead and it works tremendously. Our dogs quit hacking from scarfing their food too quickly.Read more

We got a shelter puppy and needed to slow down her eating.somshe wouldn’t get a bloated belly. She walks in a little circle eating her food. It’s been a couple of months now and she’s almost 30 pounds and still doesn’t tip the bowl over or move it around. It’s a nice, well made bowl with a rubber grippy part on the bottom. Probably couldn’t get more than a cup and a half of food in it at once. Ours gets a cup and it looks like a lot more food when it’s in this bowl. Perhaps I should get one for myself.Read more

This does not slow down a Labrador . The food is gone within seconds. Maze type bowls are slower feeders but made of plastic which gets eaten by said Labrador

I researched similar dog bowls before buying this one. I wanted a model that would be effective in slowing down my GSD at mealtime, but would allow her to access the food without too much difficulty. I wanted a sturdy, unbreakable bowl, one heavy enough that a big dog would not easily push or nudge it across the floor, one that would not slip, with a removable slip guard on the bottom for washing. This bowl ticks all those boxes. It is also attractive, well made and easy to keep clean. The bonus is that my dog loves it. A huge thumbs up for this product!
