GAMEPLAY
A throwback to earlier games in the series, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit allows players to experience the thrill of the chase from either the perspective of a racer or the police, with police cars constantly chasing racers. Set along 100 miles of road situated in fictional Seacrest County, the gameworld of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is fully open-world, meaning that players can go wherever they want and race or chase whomever they want to. Players have access to a career mode regardless of which side they are on, and police and racers both have access to differing power-ups to give them an extra edge in a pinch. Cars available in-game are realistic replicas the pantheon of high-performance vehicles available in real-life, with cops and racers having equal access to most cars featured, but some being exclusive to either side. Additional features include: Autolog, which allows players to communicate and compare stats via a social media type network, 1-8 player online game support and multiple play modes.

This game is absolutely awesome!!! The frame rate is really good, so its got thrill to it. You can be a cop or a street racer. Plus, you have weapons! Some events limit you to one or a couple of cars to pick from. Events with weapons will only have a certain amount of weapons. You have nitrous in all events; cop or street racer. You have a health bar, when it runs out, you lose the event. Weapons for street racers: EMP- Once activated it locks on and blasts the target with an electromagnetic pulse. It damages the car pretty efficiently too. Spike Strips- It launches them and when a car hits them they are damaged and they spin out. Turbo- It unleashes a lot of power for a period of time sending you clear over your max speed. Jammer- This disables any of the cop’s weapons and prevents them from launching new ones for a short period of time. Weapons for cops: EMP- Once activated it locks on and blasts the target with an electromagnetic pulse. It damages the car pretty efficiently too. Spike Strips- It launches them and when a car hits them they are damaged and they spin out. Road Block- This creates a road block. Helicopter- The helicopter drops spike strips that are longer and do a little more damage ahead of the racers. Events for street racers: Race(no cops or weapons) Gauntlet(weapons and cops, race against time without other racers) Time Trial(race against time, no cops or weapons) Preview(no cops, no weapons, race against time with a car you will unlock later on) Hot Pursuit(cops and weapons, a race with other racers while the cops try to bust you) Events for cops: Rapid Response(no weapons, a race against time) Interceptor(weapons, bust one racer before the time runs out) Preview(no weapons, race against time with a car you will unlock later on) Hot Pursuit(weapons, bust the racers before they reach the finish line)Read more

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (DVD edition) is simply spectacular. The rules come in 4 flavors: #1) Drive to a destination as fast as you can while hitting as little as you can. Single player only. #2) Drive like a wild man anywhere you want while trying to get away from cops. This is only 1v1. #3) A simple race. Up to 8 drivers. #4) A race while cops are chasing you, trying to take you out of commission (you can be the cop or the racer). Up to 4v4. All modes are fun, but #2 and #4 are the best. The wold is beautifully rendered. Your radio plays some pumping music. The sound effects are loud and engaging while, amazingly, never being annoying. What I find most amazing is the detail in the world. It’s almost like racing through something as well-done as Skyrim. If you slowed down to look at some roses, they’ll be there. But you can also drive fast and they’ll just float by in a blur. I should not that this is a very arcade-like game, not a driving simulator. You’ll find unrealistic physics and collisions at every turn. But they’re close enough to real to feel quite gratifying. This title is Need for Speed perfection. NOTE: DRM on this disc requires a serial number entry and internet connection. You’ll have to treat it like a long-term rental, I’m afraid. Once again, paying members get a worse product than the pirates. Hopefully one day the Internet Connection won’t be required. The packaging clearly indicates that a type of DRM called SOLID SHIELD protects the content. You get 5 activations, but you can also deactivate by following the short guide in the fine print on the back of the box. NOTE #2: As of the writing of this review, the online activity is still white hot. You can often jump into a match filled up with both experienced and inexperienced players on the weekend within a minute or two. NOTE #3: EA often shuts down game servers that are 2 years old or older (sometimes less) which completely removes your online play. There’s no way to play peer-to-peer or anything like that for many of their titles. I’ve been burned before, so before you buy, you’ll want to check at EA’s “service updates” webpage.Read more

Apparently this is highest rated NFS game up to date but to my opinion it felt too much like Burnout (Criterion Developers). The racing style is like simple arcade and excessive usage of Nitrous. Don’t get me wrong, its fun playing this game, lack of story mode (career is just bunch races, play as cop or racer). I got this game after I got NFS the Run ( which is definitely more fun, but short career mode) Gameplay: This is first NFS game where it autodrifts with the use of handbrake helping you turn difficult corners with ease. As this is more arcade style driving, it may not appeal all NFS fans. The difficulty in career races can be said little too high, one or two mistakes (lose too much speed) and you will have to restart the race. No mistakes will get you easy win. If you are looking for simple fun, then try this game see if it suits you because I bored of playing it. Graphics: The most rich and exotic looking NFS game for its time (Not counting NFS The Run now. The environments are well designed and doesn’t stale at all. I infact enjoyed driving around in FreeDrive Mode. The car looks amazing, good detail and nice damage model that maps quite dynamically. If enjoy blowing or battering the hell out of opponent, you will definitely enjoy playing this, graphics put a good show. Multiplayer: I played few races, and was first only once. It isn’t hard but requires precision when driving, like I said one mistake and you are done. The Autolog is amazing addition to NFS. The ability track of records and compare them to friends is useful, competitive no doubt. You can make friends easily online with help autolog as it suggestts whether you have beat opponent record, ask them back to challenge you. NFS HP can said the new Social Racer Game. I got this game from Amazon for 10 bucks, so it doesn’t feel bad not playing more. I would suggest that this game is only worthed it if you like the gameplay otherwise there isn’t much to do.Read more

Nice game with OK graphics. It seems they took the maps and terrain from burnout paradise. Pros: 1. Cars are good and opponents will not be easy to beat if you make too many mistakes. 2. Realistic damage to cars but I think it is only cosmetic and does not impact performance. 3. Driving in oncoming traffic fills boost (same as burnout Paradise) Con’s: Overall feels like a repackaged burnout rather than NFS. Even the crashes, drifts and boost are same the other game I mentioned. Verdict: Its not that costly and if you haven’t played burnout then definitely buy this. Even otherwise I would recommend it due to its cop mode and improved graphics.Read more
