Bought this system with upgrades in mind. Wanted to upgrade to 16Gb of RAM but found that no memory manufacturer listed compatible memory for it and the accompanying manual was no help other than stating DDR4 2400. I read the reviews with people complaining about not being able to get the memory they bought to work. I was not very hopeful but I matched up the clocks with the memory that was already installed and purchase a Crucial CT2K8G4SFS824A kit. I turned off the quick boot as suggested in one review and started my upgrade. I installed the memory and a 500Gb SATA HDD. Restarted the computer and let it do the slow boot and everything worked fine. After a few days and reboots, I got up the courage to turn the quick boot back on. Everything works great. The only reason for 4 stars is the lack of technical information to do upgrades.Read more

I’ve tried 5 different mini pcs including the apple m1 mini mac and this was the only one able to handle my multi tasking.i use 2 24″ curved displays with 20 highly active charts and times and sales plus cnbc video YouTube and web Rosser all at once.no lag.fans is extremely quiet when it does run.best of all it uses less then 50 watts compared to my desktop.this will pay for itself in electricity savings within 2 years since my pc is on 24/7.great buildRead more

I’m amazed at how small this PC is! It’s replacing a Raspberry Pi 4 as a living-room PC. It’s only about 2x the size, but 10x the performance, runs Windows, and so far it looks great for light-gaming. Roblox ran great and even Genshin Impact at medium settings! I’m glad I got the 16gb/512gb version for the added boost. Excellent value at under $500!Read more

I bought this SEI8 and a Crucial 2TB SSD (this mini PC has space for a 7mm 2.5in drive in addition to the NVMe storage it comes with, use care taking the lid off there is a mini SATA cable attached to it that you don’t want to damage). Note there is a sticker on the device suggesting not to enable WIFI or Ethernet until after initial setup / account creation, if you want a local account (without a Microsoft online account necessary – don’t blame Beelink – this is a Windows 10+ annoyance. Never boot up a new Windows 10+ system connected to the Net and you’d be fine 🙂 ). After Windows 10 updates, I powered down the box and installed the second (SSD) storage disc. 30 minutes later I had a dual booting Debian/Windows10pro powerhouse small enough to loose in a book bag! What an interesting world we livin’ in, eh? Debian 11 (and Debian Linux in general) doesn’t include binary drivers in the install medium, so if you choose to install a Linux distro, either use one that comes with 3rd party drivers in the installer (specifically, the Intel Wireless package needed is ‘firmware-iwlwifi’ for debian / ubuntu / mint etc distros), or use the Ethernet connection and install the wifi firmware package above (then run ‘ modprobe -r iwlwifi ; modprobe iwlwifi’ or restart..). I’d suspect there would need to be a similar process for Fedora/RHEL/RH-clone distros with RPMs. Many popular distros (Ubuntu, Mint, Manjaro, etc) will probably detect the iwlwifi device and fetch the firmware automatically but perhaps still best to run the install with a wired connection to start. Expandable even at this scale? Also, given that SSDs are so darn cheap (I got a Crucial 2TB SSD for just under $160 – whoa?) there’s no need to deal with dual booting, or replacing Windows 10. Just pick up a second 2.5in SSD, and Bob’s your uncle (as the English Linux user might say, idk..). The 2.5in SSD/HDD mounting rail (yes, a rail – and thankfully the Crucial SSD had the screws in its box..) is on the lid. Use care not to damage the tiny (delicate) compact cable connecting the SATA mount to the mainboard. After removing the 4 screws (tiny philips head screws), lift up OH SO CAREFULLY. The unit does not include a spare cable and it looks rather difficult to find to replace if damaged removing the lid.. Assume no more than an inch or so gap space, then locate the side with the cable and open like a book. Cool runnings… The line powered USB external 5TB disc I have attached to it gets hotter than that little PC. Pretty cool (pun intended). Where’s the Bloat? Syyyke! I had half-expected the Windows 10 system to be jammed full of bloatware (every vendor seems to be doing it anymore), but this little fellow pleasantly has little if none. I went hunting in the Apps, and aside from some Microsoft store items that don’t even use much space (Facebook Hub, etc; removed anyway..) I didn’t find any. On this note? Windows Update does not update Microsoft Store items (including the basic ones included in Windows 10..) so check the Microsoft Store for Downloads and Updates also when updating. A Microsoft online account is not required (you can opt not to sign in if prompted so long as (I assume) you’re not buying something in the store. Performance? I haven’t installed Steam in either Linux or Windows yet, but video tests (my display is limited to 1 @ 1080px60-120Hz, tested at 60hz) look unsurprisingly good. Note that the Intel Iris GPU uses 2GB of the system RAM (shared video RAM), so this little PC isn’t probably NOT running Cyber Punk 2077 at its highest experience settings. etc (or insert some other mega huge, latest greatest 3D experience or game). Given that my first move after unboxing and basic Windows 10 setup was to install Linux, obviously I don’t keep up with Gaming as much as other folks do, lol.Read more

First one I received had many blue screens/crashes and then automatically restarts. The fan never turned on. Amazon let me exchange it no problem. The replacement has the blue screen/crashing problem just not as often at first, but after a few days it’s not usable. The fan at least turns on this time. Returning the replacement and will try a different model of mini pc.Read more

I asked the question about sound output before purchasing this and got good answers but when I tried getting sound I ended up having to hook up a BT adapter plug into the PC and use BT speakers which was not the easiest thing to do let alone figure out so I ordered another brand for a bit more money which I couldn’t even get to power on so now I asked similar qustions about audio out on this again but a different model and I now have 2 minis at my desk waiting to return. So if the audio is not a problem on the one coming later today I’d surely give it 5 stars.Read more

Exactly what I was looking for, lightning fast speed, excellent functionality, I’m using it as my main work computer, it works very well. However, every now and then it locks up just for a second, I assume that’s because of the solid-state drive. Also I can no longer create new folders. Really strange never had that problem with any computer in my life. Minor inconvenience, I’m working around itRead more

This thing is so damn small for what it can do! It replaced my 5 year old HP mini computer. It does 4k very smoothly, and does it well. Unless 8k tv becomes a thing, this computer will last me a very long time. It also has wifi6, which is (for now) insane for streaming from your main PC.Read more
