I have been using my Poulan Pro Wild Thing for 10 years, and gone through one original Poulan chain and 3 sets of this Oregon S62 chain (along with 2 Oregon bars). I think the reviewers who raved that the Oregon chain cuts much better and lasts longer than the Poulan are mistakenly comparing a new Oregon chain against a worn and tired Poulan chain. I always got a smile on my face after installing a new Oregon S62 chain, but it quickly disappears after cutting for only 15-30 minutes. After that, it won’t hold an edge for more than 10 minutes after each sharpening – it dulls very easily. After putting up with diminishing returns on sharpening the chain (yes, and rakers too) for a few years, I delude myself and buy yet another Oregon S62 chain hoping that the next one will perform better – I can’t complain about the price, since one chain costs less than the gas, 50:1 mix, and bar oil that it has gone through in that same period, especially when purchased from Amazon instead of a big box store. But after cutting and limbing just one or two trees, I run into the same frustration with chains that can’t keep an edge, and requiring more and more frequent sharpening until I get a new one. The worst part is all these chains, Poulan and Oregon included, have a tendency to develop a curved cut due to uneven wear on the bar. The Poulan and Oregon bars just aren’t good quality bars. Sometimes it curves left, and sometimes it curves right, depending on how poorly the bar was put together. I decided to break the cycle this spring and just bought myself a Jonsered, a red version of Husqvarna. I got a smile back on my face, but I’m waiting to see if it will perform better than the Poulan/Oregon chains after the next few sharpenings. Initial impressions are already good, since I’ve cut almost 10x the number of trees as the Poulan/Oregon chains when new, and I only dulled it after hitting a rock. Now the dulled Jonsered chain cuts the same as a resharpened Oregon chain.Read more

So, as you can see in the photo, I am getting a lot of work done with the Oregon S62 AdvanceCut chain. I haven’t had the opportunity to sharpen it yet (probably needs it now!), but I may update the review after doing so, since others have mentioned that it would not hold a good edge after first use. All in all, you can’t really complain about much when you get a new 18″ saw chain delivered to your door within two days, at this very LOW price! Some of you may notice that I’m using this chain on a Worx 304.1 18″ electric saw. This chain is not a great choice for the saw in question because, although it has the correct gauge and pitch, it only has 62 drive links, instead of the necessary 63—this means that the chain is 3/8″ shorter than it’s really supposed to be, which makes installation a little tricky, due to snugness. Still, it CAN be done without too much trouble, and I’m just highlighting this fact, in case anyone has difficulty getting their hands on a 63-link chain for their Worx saw.Read more

Okay, so you cannot use the built-in sharpener on the electric if you replace the original chain with this one, BUT! The original (self sharpening) chain has very tiny cutting teeth to accommodate the sharpening stone in the machine. If you are like me, and have more than one chain saw, you are no stranger to easy chain sharpening with a file jig. So, for the price, and for the great cutting efficiency of the Oregon chains, this SB-62 chain works perfect on the 18″ Oregon electric chainsaw I purchased. I loved the saw straight out of the box, but I hit a buried screw in a log and trashed the original chain instantly! All of the teeth on one side of the chain were GONE! So I looked to replace the chain and found that I could only find replacement chains with the sharpening stone as a pair. Unneeded AND expensive. So I tried this low profile 18″ Oregon replacement chain and it worked perfectly for far less money. LOVE IT.Read more

I was shocked when I put this chain up to a Stihl chain which I had sharpened a few times. The teeth on the oregon chain are literally 50% shorter than the Stihl chain and the edges were not as sharp. I use an Oregon electric sharpner and it gives me a much better edge than the factory edge on the Oregon chain. As short as the teeth are this chain will only last half as long as my stihl chain. It cut much better after I sharpened it and it clears to wood out of itself efficiently. Back cutting is great with this chain as long as you dont file the rakes. If you like long chain lifes and sharpen your own chains I would not suggest this chain.Read more

So replaced my old chain with the first new one out of the pack and on my first cut the saw pulled to the left and would not cut straight. Turns out the chain wasn’t sharpened very well on the right facing teeth. Put on the other new chain (2 pack) and not one issue. Great chain, no pulling, straight cuts. I have never had any issues with Oregon products and I’m sure this was just a fluke.Read more

Works great with my CRAFTSMAN CHAIN SAW Model 358351800 (aka Model 358.351800). Got the chainsaw second hand with a chain that was beyond sharpening. This revived it. Turns out when I looked closer, my chainsaw’s bar was labeled “Oregon.” I’m guessing Oregon supplies a lot of the parts for Craftsman chainsaws and that I ended up putting on an OEM chain by buying Oregon brand.Read more

This fits as a replacement for the stock oilomatic chain on my Stihl. The chains came in a 2-pack for less than the price of 1 oilomatic from the local Stihl dealer. Pre-oiled and ready to go. I’ve only used the new chain for about an hour of cutting but so far no problems. I don’t think it cuts AS well as the oilomatic which might have had a more aggressive blade style, but at this price it’s almost easier to buy new chain vs sharpen the old one. Good value for the money. Unless this chain fades fast or gives me problems over time, I will likely buy again.Read more

OK, so no kickback. Thanx, Oregon! But the previous one slipped off of the bar at full-throttle. TWICE! Yes, it was sufficiently tight, but I happened to hit some small branches on a dead Tamarack I was cutting up. That’s all it took. After getting the chain back on, it would not easily go back and forth. Then I noticed a couple.. no, SEVERAL links on the chain were bent. Can they be straightened? The way I do with a bicycle chain? I don’t think so. The whole S62 and Echo 400 system appears flimsy compared to my other 18″ Echo CS-490 chain saw. I suppose I’ll have to be a tad more careful.Read more

Excellent chain for my needs, & I’ve bought a whole bunch of them now. Recently learned that they don’t cut rocks though when I was trying to cut a stump down to ground level beside a rock, I guess a little too close to the rock, & wrote off a brand new Oregon chain. I do recommend staying away from rocks, now.Read more

Replaced the factory one on my Ryobi 38cc 18” and slices and dices like a chefs knife in comparison. Cut through some old railway sleepers for the fire without any issues. On the gum trees to trim 8-10” branches it went through them like butter when fresh off the tree.Read more

Fit my Poulan 18″ chainsaw perfectly and tears through fresh tree limbs and logs like nobody’s business. For $20 you really can’t beat that. Bought for a Poulan Pro PP4218A 42cc chainsaw.Read more

Like the fact that I could buy a name brand chain and have an extra on hand. Had a few cuts to make and it cut like going through butter. Glad I made the purchase would buy again.Read more
