I’ve created a monster! I’m now doing several pots of this grass every two weeks. Our cat is obsessed! She knows I grow it in the kitchen window so she routinely stands up against the lower cabinets, looks up at the window and meows at me. She’s always wanting a new pot of grass. And she’s a cat, so she gets a new pot of grass. I soak seeds for about a day and then sow in 4″ clay pots, cover with a little planting medium and within 2 days they’ve germinated. They’re ready for her to eat in about 10 days. I recommend packing a lot of seed into a 4-in pot, about a tablespoon or more. When it’s chewed down, you can empty the pot, chop up the roots and remaining potting soil and reuse. There’s no need to use fresh potting soil each time. This seed grows in anything.Read more

Super easy to grow and grows very fast. My cat loves it and it looks nice and green and lush. Definitely recommend. I’m seeing less of an interest to get outside and less interest in eating other house plants which is a huge win.Read more

My cats love fresh grass to eat. I had been using a kit with just oat seeds which was OK but relatively expensive, and I didn’t need the kit. I’ve been using a couple of 4+ planters and starting seeds in one while they are eating the other one. This mix of seeds is not only a lot cheaper per pound, but the varied mix seems heartier – more long-lasting – and the cats seem to enjoy them equally well. I don’t soak the seeds as the vendor suggests – just water the soil in the pot pretty well, put down a moderately dense, single layer of seeds and cover with maybe 1/3 to 1/2 inch of (damp) soil, lightly tamped down. They start sprouting in a couple-few days at room temperature and once I see the sprouts I put them in a windowsill and keep the soil watered as needed. They grow fast. When they are around 5-6″ tall, I put them out for the cats, if they haven’t already found them.Read more

This is a nice cat grass blend: there appear to be an even mix of seeds, and they grow reliably well in about a week. 5 days if you pre-soak, although then you need to add the 36 hours of soaking time, so it basically works out to a week either way. I’d say it stays viable for about 10 days, tops, but I grow a new pot every week for my cat, so it doesn’t really matter to me. Cats should have fresh juicy grass available all the time, not withered old grass!Read more

This stuff is great. I’ve tasted a tender blade or two. It’s a mixture of 4 nutritious seeds: hard red wheat seed, barley, rye, oats. Grows easily (I put little rocks in my planter to help sprouts root better, something to hang on to when my cat pulls them out!) My cats are very good with my other plants when I have this. They will only eat the kitty grass and are very proud of their little garden. I guess I need a grow light for winter cuz it helps them stop throwing up as much! This is my second purchase of this productRead more

I’ve grown cat grass before but never much. I just burry it under 1/4 of premoistened soil and 2-3 days later I have sprouts coming up, and in under 2 weeks I give it to the cats. Soil I’m using doesn’t even have contain nutrients, and it grows excellent. I water daily after it sprouts and use grow lights because it will bend toward light, like any plant, and I don’t have to rotate to prevent it this way. Seems to germinate at good rate though I haven’t tested as I sew quite heavily anyway and no issue. Pictures taken Thursday night from planting Sunday night, a extra week on for the taller stuff. Just started leaning today, will give to cats tomorrow.Read more

Those wooden boxes don’t come with these seeds – the seeds just come in a bag. I got the boxes from a former purchase and just saved them, to re-use. These seeds work great – takes about a week to get what you see in the pics, at two weeks the grass will be “full grown.” I use a spray bottle to water the grass every day or two. I have two cats (sisters) – one of them loves the grass (any cat grass I used really) and knows at it daily…. while the other takes an occasional chew. Both of them will lay on it at times, so cute!Read more
