The Wansview W6 camera 4-pack is an excellent addition to other wireless security cameras I have installed. First off, for the price, these can not be beat. Pound for pound, these cameras provide the most value for your money. Before buying, I did extensive research and decided to give them a try. I must admit I have been very impressed and these cameras have proved my opinion of the value! First, these cameras come well packaged with protective plastic over the screen. Upon unboxing, you will find all of the components required for a successful installation (minus the tools). The instruction prompt you to download the Wansview Cloud app, which is used to set up the camera. Next, you plug in the camera and hit the + button to add it to the software. The software will provide a QR code that you place in sight of the camera. What I found to be pretty neat is that an audible voice comes from the camera letting you know each step completed. The audible affirmation was a very nice touch. Finally, the camera will tell you that the installation is complete and you are ready to install in a location of your choosing. The whole setup process took me less than three minutes a camera. These cameras can be installed in many configurations, upside down, on the wall pointing out or right side up. A drill hole pattern sticker is included to help with perfectly drilling the mounting holes. The cameras must be powered by being plugged into 110v as POE (Power Over Ethernet) is not available. I did this by drilling a small hole near the mounting area and plugging the system up to an extension cord ran in my attic. The camera can use either ethernet or wireless (2.4) to connect to your network. After installation, I opened the app and slowly positioned the camera to have the best view of the area covered. From what I have noticed, the camera does a great job of focusing. One of the fantastic things about these cameras is that you do not need a DVR, existing security system, or cloud service for these to operate. You can install micro SD cards into each camera, and motion alerts will be recorded on the SD card. You can then view the motion alerts and subsequent videos on your phone, tablet, or computer. You can also install many of these cameras and have them all show up inside the app. We also have some indoor cameras that we monitor on the app as well making everything seamless. The video on these cameras is very clear even at night. The IR floods that are included with the camera illuminate the area very well and provides excellent visibility. The W6 cameras also have two-way audio, so you can hear what’s going on through the microphone and even speak through the camera as well. This works great when someone is at our front door or when we have to yell at the kids! All in all, I highly recommend this camera for anyone that wants to create a safer home environment without having some strangers moping around your home installing a “professional” cameras. For the price point, the features are just too useful to pass up. The only thing I am left wanting is I wish these cameras had POE capability, but for the price, I understand. Do yourself a favor and give these a try. You won’t be disappointed.Read more

I’m a long time wansview user, but they have completely screwed up their software. It’s required to use their app now to set the camera up, and unless someone can tell me the web address of the camera admin section, that is gone too. See, it used to be you’d plug your camera into your router via an ethernet wire, browse to the domain name of the camera, log in using a default username and password, and then you can configure everything else, like the wireless network to connect to and the password. Then you could disconnect the wired connection, and the camera could connect to wireless, and you’d be done. It’s not possible to do that anymore, and one other REQUIREMENT is that you have internet access. Now, what would Wansview possibly need from you to connect to the internet? What information are they stealing from you? Maybe usernames and passwords? Video streams itself? If you still don’t believe me, go look up their “Wansview Cloud App” and read those reviews. It’s too bad, because I was always happy with the quality of the video, but with this new buggy software and an internet connection requirement, this thing is being returned.Read more

Wansview W6 Camera Review: I now have a total of (5) W6 cameras installed on my property. This last one is like my other 4 but black in color instead of white. All basic features of this black cam are identical to the others. On the plus side, the cameras work beautifully both day and night. Clear and responsive. Included are two attachments of this camera in both a daytime and nighttime shots. Even in total darkness they perform very well. Pairing them out of the box is a snap. I found the scan barcode method is my best choice getting the cam paired in under 5 minutes. Wansview has done a great job with the hardware. The 3 cables coming out of this camera (like the others) makes it a bit bulky to secure and hide but not a deal breaker. My usage of these cameras is only for live video. I do not record video to a cloud account. On the minus side is their Wansview Cloud software. It is really buggy. It decides if it will connect to the cameras (or not) & is slow while in progress. My wifi is of high strength and total coverage throughout my house with top rated router service. Streaming wifi video from other sources anywhere in my house is completely successful. Because it’s advertised that you can use an ONVIF compliant app instead of the Wansview Cloud app, I was encouraged to see if I could find a better software solution. I tried to apply ONVIF, iSpy and Blue Iris but it was clear I did not have the technical know how. My high tech son took over as I watched him spend hours to accomplish this. A second app called Tiny Cam Pro is now working to operate my cameras. I was told that this app only works within my home wifi range. For live video away from the house I still have to use Wansview Cloud. I was unaware that this is how a second app would apply to me. Bottom Line is that when the camera works with Wansview Cloud app, it is acceptable. Wansview is a caring company. They want your business. My suggestion to them is to make a simple setup of their primary software to work as well as Tiny Cam so that non-tech folks like me can easily setup reliable software to match the very reliable hardware. UPDATE: Recently I purchased a new iPhone 12 Pro. The Wansview software that works with my cameras is now quite quick and reliable. That is to say that my old Android LG cellphone had a lot to do with the problems I was encountering with the software. Wansview Cloud software works better then I originally spoke of in the above review and just another reason to make a serious commitment to their products.Read more
