We’ve had a couple of training collars and what they share in common, unfortunately, is probably best described as being clunky. The vibration/shock box that rests under the dog’s chin is often large and seems like it must be annoying to the dog. The transmitters are often too large to comfortably slide into a pocket and so must be carried even though my dog requires no reminders — not even a vibration — on most of our walks. What would be really nice is a device that is small on the dog and in my pocket yet sturdy enough to survive frequent visits to the dog park. This one seems to fit that bill. When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see just how much smaller the transmitter was than the previous, somewhat similar products that I’ve owned. Gone is the long antenna. Gone is a device that is 4-6 inches thick. The transmitter certainly isn’t as thin as my phone, but it is probably only 2-3 times as thick instead of 4-6 times as thick. That’s awfully nice when wearing jeans. The receiver on the dog is also a lot smaller. That’s gotta be nice for the pup too. I sure wouldn’t want to walk around (or run around at the dog park) with a big box under my chin, so I doubt that my dog would want that either. The receiver with this product is way, way smaller than some of the competing products out there.Read more

This training collar set came with 2 collars and 1 remote. With 2 dogs prior to having this system, I had two separate training collars and remotes because I wasn’t sure I would like having to flip a switch to control the two separate dogs on one remote being afraid I would have it set to the wrong dog when I needed it most. With this system I decided to try this method out and really like it. I love that this model now has a lock button because I often have it with me while working in the yard and can now put it in my pocket locked so that a button doesn’t accidently get activated. Both collars need to be paired to the remote but instructions are simple. So far I have only charged these up once but I don’t have them on the dogs all the time but have used them several times for long periods of time and the charge is still good. The remote has good separation of the buttons so that you can use it without really looking at it to know which button you are using. All in all I think it’s a great system and better than my previous model which was also a PATPET. The only think that I think could be improved is the look and feel of the remote. While it works just fine it doesn’t look or feel quite as high quality as the previous remote. Obviously this doesn’t affect the way it works which is why I didn’t reduce a star. I would highly recommend this set.Read more

Finding a training collar for a small dog is difficult … choices are limited and even some marketed to a small dog are very cumbersome and inhibitive. This is the second training collar I have gotten for my 10# Yorkie. and I am very pleased with all the improvements. The receiver unit on the collar is small and compact measuring 2-1/2” wide, 1-1/2# tall, and just 1” thick, excluding contact points. Two lengths of contact points are included, insuring operation for both short and long haired dogs. The metal contact spring sheet (see photo) is attached by the screw-in contact points and gives better protection and distribution of the electronic correction. A soft silicone cover goes over the contact point making it much more comfortable for the dog rather than the bare metal point (see photo). These covers do not affect the deliverance of the electronic correction. The collar itself is sturdy nylon, easily adjustable with a secure and easy to fasten “click and lock” clasp. No clumsy buckle to deal with! My dog is very comfortable wearing it. The on/off switch is located on the back side of the receiver, and a vibration confirms the press of the button has indeed turned it on or off, no guesswork. The transmitter (see photos) is also top notch with many well thought out features, and very compact measuring 4-3/4” tall, 1-1/4” wide, and 1/2” thick. On the side is a sliding on/off or Lock/Unlock switch preventing unintended pressing of a button when in your pocket. Pressing the front top button transmits a beep to the receiving collar. The front middle button causes the collar to vibrate. I find these two buttons (effects are at a fixed level, not adjustable) are the only ones I need to get my dog’s attention and the desired behavior result. Pressing the front bottom button delivers a shock to the receiver … there are 16 levels of electronic stimulation and you can set it for anything from a “tingle” to a “Yelp” by adjusting the button on top., By placing your finger over the prongs and pressing the bottom button you can feel the same amount of stimulation your dog feels as you increase the level. I was impressed the increment levels are small, and I had to go to Level 7 to feel the stimulation at which I thought my dog would respond. This does not need to be reset each time you turn the remote on or off, it remains where you set it and the level is displayed on the remote screen. On the side (opposite the on/off switch side) the transmitter has a sliding switch for 1 or 2 as it can control two receiver collars on two dogs independently. A second collar is included in this product. The LED screen on the transmitter shows battery level of transmitter, status (lock/unlock) of transmitter, which collar is being controlled (1 or 2), and level of electronic correction (1-16). A one year warranty is included, as well as phone number and email address for any needed support or questions. You’re not left “just hanging” with what you purchased. In summary, I’m very pleased with all aspects of this very reasonably priced product and definitely recommend it.Read more

They were great the first week, but then it seems like they just dropped to barely working… both my dogs have learned how to flip them out, no matter what I try… they constantly unsync… and when locked, my 2 year old recently taught us all that hitting whatever button your trying to use, 2x really fast over rides the lock mechanism… and needless to say, I was thankful my dog had flipped the collar or she would have been shocked several times, and for no reason…. Over all, I say just remember why these things are usually so much more money, and your only getting what you pay for here, if that, but nothing more for sure….. 🙁 My biggest dislike overall, is I can’t charge both collars same time…..Read more
